  1. Yeah the acid bath I know... Are you going to do the welding yourself or ?
  2. What I know is that most cars have them. It's when for some reason the floors end up full of water, you can drain it out by pulling the plugs...
  3. I love their simplicity haha, but the spray pattern is worthless I agree. Personally I don't botter..it's an old car anyhow. But maybe you could do an upgrade to more modern nozzles ?
  4. I found out those '' rare interior caps '' offer where indeed from reddat ! So now I have the same for 25 dollars that's a big difference. Also found out I have a few little " NOS " parts from him coming my way, arriving this week. So let's wait and see...
  5. Sorry didn't take anymore pictures. But awaiting the result...
  6. Yeah I saw that one, looks good. Looks like he changed the 73 emission carbs, but left the emission air filter housing on ( I know from mine that housing does not fit on early carbs ) ? Anyone can explain the front bumper overrider bar ? Mine is on a different height, did they came in different configurations ?
  7. I bought a few things from him, but only small prices. That's insane. I see alot of Ebay sellers who ask insane prices... they must think there are people who will buy. Lately I was looking for the rear interior strut caps ( 2 black ones ), and I found some add on Ebay ( not from reddat ), and he asked something like 120 dollars, after some more searching, I found the same for 25 dollars !
  8. Keep going, your in the hardest part right now, alot of body work to do.. Are you going to get it sandblasted ?

Why use it only for that ? I drive my 240z as much as I can, only not in the winter months, I know it costs money, but what's the point in restoring a classic car, and not driving it ?
  10. There's many 240z's in LA area alone.. but it depends on what you want.. there are ready to go 240's for over 10k.. but also projects for a few k.. Gr Bart
  11. And a BMW Z3 now.. from 1996. It has dutch license plates now.
  12. That's a smart modification ! I like the idea.. I have been wrestling with my carbs also, in the end a rebuilded set from Ztherapy made it running perfect, without fouling the plugs everytime. Have you noticed the main mixture screw raises or lowers the nozzle height to lean or richen the mixture ? It looks your Z is a European one right ? You have the 5 speed manual ?
  13. The vibration is 95% gone now. I also did what you say, it helped, but most seemed vibration from the front suspesion/steering rack etc, worn out parts, which I replaced. I think when a better diff is placed, it's all gone.
  14. Just arrived today, full weather stripping for the car from datsunparts llc So now I have all the things for re-paint. Hopefully somewhere spring.
  15. Looking good after that paint job ! I love how you Americans just DIY paint in the garage
  16. You gotta listen to them and give them some love, it works....it really works ! My Z is also from Iowa but now driving here in Europe. Good luck on your project!
  17. I know many people who also confuse the 280z and the 280zx, or they don't even know the 280zx existed..
  18. applied a coat of rubber sealant, and it's drying, will take a while to dry I guess, the black is allready ok.
  19. ^ I think the whole car was badly sealed back in the day. Seems a common mislooked problem for wet floors is the firewall seal leaking under the cowl. I found this problem to just lately, and I'm currently trying to fix it, see this topic: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/body-paint-s30/48702-cowl-top-inner-rust-repair.html
  20. Yes it's the smug/air pump I removed mine to, I hate eco add ons Nice 240z by the way !
  21. looks stupid, but could be me
  22. Maybe their are still to much early z's intact and to be found so the value will not rise much. I do know that here in The Netherlands and in Europe they are pretty rare and parts are very difficult to find, but because they are not known well like a Porsche or Jaguar E-type, their value is still low..
  23. Hehe, Fred parked it since 1988  I think you mean: " Ik kan niet slapen "
  24. ^ that's a rocket !! This is just the 1.8 4 cylinder, fast enough for my mother By the way I joined a local Japanese classic car club I saw this guy in De Telegraaf newspaper with his Datsun 1200, and found out he lives close by, so why not send him an e-mail to join... Below is the confirmation letter and a membership card.
