Couldn't find any pictures of the event, but found a local newspaper article about it this week.
  3. E-tek, Do you have a sandblaster cabin ? If not i'd recommend getting one.. it saves ALOT of time on all the small parts... Gr Bart
  4. Also looks likes there's a nut missing on the left strut mounting in the engine bay ?
  5. I do now I am missing the rubber strip in the engine bay where the hood closes on... ( getting that this week I hope ) could it be that carburetor/engine fumes are leaking past that, and going into my cabin when I open the windows when driving ? ( the natural flow pushing the gasses in ? ) I am thinking that because there's also alot of air from both the fan and the wind is pushing into the engine bay when driving...
  6. I used the search but couldn't find a real answer to it. When I drive with the windows closed there's no fuel smell in the interior, but when I drive with the windows down there's a smell of fuel... I have to say it is less now with the new rebuild carburetors, but I can still smell it. Does it come from the engine bay ?
  7. Robert, You'r right, didn't even notice it at first ! I need to learn to look more carefully. I'm currently also in the process of repairing the cracks, but so far didn't found a company willing to take the challenge. Gr Bart.

  9. Does it really matter on a car of that age ?
  10. Woman and talking logic ? Now wait a minute... That car should be restored my opinion, date stamp is 11/69 not much left of 1969..

A v8 doesn't belong in a z car in my opinion.. different power delivery than a straight 6

Think your right in that, he's better of on HybridZ, this is more for classic z cars.

boost it, or go for another inline 6 like the RB series ? I wouldn't drop a V8 in there... Or a stock m3 engine from the bmw e36, that's about 300 hp

Thanks everyone ! Well yesterday was fun, the weather was pretty nice and sunny I don't know where to find pictures of the event yet, but I guess they will show up later this week. Although this was the first time they held this event, it went pretty good. A lot of people where looking at the car, don't see an old Z that often here ! I made a picture of the car this morning as it sits
  15. Wow... just found this by chance. And they are naming the Datsun 240Z on their website to '' Among the sports and GT cars, Mercedes coupés and cabriolets must again rank among the favourites; but a Porsche or a Datsun 240Z could do well, and a well prepared Austin Healey or MGB may surprise them ''. 16. Problem is GONE. To confirm: it was in the carburetor butterfly axles ( to much drag/wear ). Pedal feels so smooth now, it's even to sensitive !
  17. Got it fixed.. it was the breaker points that wore in to fast, because of missing lube on the cam...

Finally got it running right... I had to turn the carburetor mixture screws richer, because it wouldn't idle properly, I wouldn't have thought, because Chris had them on a 2.8 engine ! Timing is also correct, and it idles fine now. I have to admit, the gas pedal problem is GONE ! It's so much smoother now Feels like driving a new car.. maybe it's a bit to over sensitive and I have to get used to it now. Anyhow it's ready for tomorrow's classic car rally

Okay so finally we managed to get the engine running again yesterday around 24.00. It was an ignition problem again, partly coil hooked up wrong, and timing. Also placed a few new gaskets, and found a spacer that's on top of the valve, in the oil pan.. that was missing from the beginning when I got it. More to follow on this, we have to get it running for the sunday event. Anybody can confirm the distributor vacuum advance hose is in the right place ?
  20. Hey Chris, I got your SU's on, but now I have the same problem , won't even start, we are working on it. Think it's ignition problem like you had. Can't be the carbs. I noticed the front pulley with the ignition mark the key was missing.. ( see my thread ). Changed the condensator earlier and it fired up, but next day won't start again and condensator seems fried ? What fries condensators?
  21. I have a temporary Dutch version, which has holes in the middle for license plate lights. I'm looking for a smooth US version for my 71. Anybody has one for sale where the chrome is still ok on it ? And willing to ship to the Netherlands ? Thanks, Bart.
  22. Looks pretty good actually..

Yep ! My brother and I are going to take of the timing cover today, we just want to be sure !

okay, itˊs not the fuel delivery, the carbs are great by the way thanks chris! Ignition problems again . My brother is helping, wˊll continue tomorrow. We managed to get it running, but something is very wrong with the ignition timing, also the crankshaft pulley key was missing ! ( so the timing marks on the pulley are wrong ) Updates to follow. I want to have it ready for next week, because of the classic car rally on sunday.
