My Datsun 240Z
I got the rebuild ztherapy carbs from Chris ( Grannyknot ) today, and mounted them this evening. ( pics to follow tomorrow ). But she doesn't want to start, if I use starterfluid into the air filter there's a reaction from the engine. So I believe it's not getting enough fuel. I did crank for quite a while with the choke on, but only little reaction from the engine. Any advice ? I'll look tomorrow again.

old cars that small or new cars that big ?
interesting point about the doors, I do know door height also changed over time here. I do know people where alot smaller in the 17th and 18th century.

old cars that small or new cars that big ?
OK compared to American cars yes, but they didn't have them here in Europe much.

How have you fixed twisted off rusty bolts?
Yes, heating up the old and using some wd40 or penetrating oil will most likely get it out. Forget cold. That's what I usually do to. But I would never use a helicoil. For my work I regularly need to drill out broken of 8.8 strenght bolts into cylinders all the time. What I do is grind it down to the surface, then use a pointer with hammer to center, then use a HSS drill, start small and go to the right size, then use a tap to make new thread.

old cars that small or new cars that big ?
I notice when driving in the Z that all the modern cars are much bigger and taller... I was thinking what this has got to do with ? Did the people grow larger and the cars grow with them, or they just made cars smaller back then? I mean when I stand next to a modern small car, it looks big from the seat of my Z..

Z35 the new 240?
New Nissan Z Car, Code-Named Z35, in Pipeline - Motor Trend It's a nice car, but they just don't make em like they used to anymore. It will weigh around 1300 kg, that's 300 more the the 240Z. And they are going 4 cylinder turbo I don't like today's styling features either, are the designers on drugs ? Those big wheels also look ridiculous. For me personally the old cars have a certain feel and emotion to them.. it's all metal and mechanical, while the new stuff is alot of plastics, computers and much easier to drive hence all the modern stuff, also more silent on the inside.

Z cars in Japan commanding big bucks
I have to agree with you on that. Interesting to see prices in Japan and EU are much higher than in the US. Maybe because they are more rare, of has to do with economic prices?
- What makes a Z a Z? What modifacations go too far to be called a Z?

Yup, they are practically new, he had them on for a few hundred miles, let's hope the problem is solved with it... then we also know the answer to the problem.

mechanical throttle linkage, what's the problem ?
Let's wait and see, I do agree with Kenobi, he has a point there. I bought the ztherapy rebuilded carbs from Grannyknot, and will put them on when they arrive, and see what happens...

mechanical throttle linkage, what's the problem ?
I asked a professional carb rebuilding company from Belgium ( not so many around here ), and he says he doesn't understand why the gas pedal operates smooth when engine is off ( only on the pedal, because direct @ carbs you can feel the tensions of the springs ), but heavy when engine is running.

240Z in newspaper last saturday
Cool. I like how they name the 240Z now in the segment of classic cars, because it's not such a known car here...

mechanical throttle linkage, what's the problem ?
That's really to low imo , I've set it just under 1000 rpm, like most cars do here. But I tried with the linkage unhooked, and feel how the butterfly valves operate on a running engine when turned by hand, and they still operate heavy, so.. problems with worn shafts then ? I can't seem to think of anything else at the moment. There's no play in the linkage. Could a to heavy damper oil, or a shortage of incoming air cause this to ? Altough I can't see a direct connection
