  1. Makes sense since it was forged with composites. Like you said the centerline could be from the mold. ( 2 pieces) . The steel base is layed into the mold before compressed together. How that exactly goes..i can't tell. I have a friend who works in the plastic industry. I have seen a lot of injection molding machines. But I don't think it goes exactly like that with wood fibres
  2. Interesting discussion , I can understand why most people call it plastic, or " wood simulated steering wheel ". It looks like it's a form of pressed wood fibre, A new technology in the time, compared to traditional wood steering wheels. Maybe mis- understood all the time... Like wiki says: Composites[edit] Wood fibres can be combined with thermoplastics to create strong, waterproof products for outdoor use, such as deck boards or outdoor furniture.[6] What is Wood Composite? I wonder where all the european lhd 240zs ended up. Most must have been rotted away or crushed
  4. Looks fine Kats! Not bad. 😉
  5. I have a big doubt with newer injection cars beeing " cleaner ". All that emission crap, have you seen the clogged up cylinderheads, and when they get older ( also the diesels ) tend to smoke a lot. My work van has a DPF filter, when that thing starts regenerating the smoke and smell is worse than an old tractor !
  6. That's why a lot of older guys here, who lived through the 70/80s in their 20/30's confuse the 280ZX with the 280Z 😅
  7. Exactly.. the further in the past you get, you get less hp but more cubic inches 😀 These days a 1.0 turbo does the same as the L24
  8. Its better like this, the front could be acceptable ,but the further you go under the floorboard, weaker it gets. Some wood under it would be MUCH better. The floors are a weak point sadly so many people put a jack under there in the early days pushing the floors in.
  9. Exactly.... Seems a lot of guys want to jump in the Z hype $$$$ quick refurb and ask big bucks. Some sucker is going to fall for it though...🤣
  10. The markers they used in the factory ( if they did ) prob was crayon or something, that dissolved not paint. For a restoration I dont need it personally, its not like you are doing assembly line stuff anymore
  11. 1972 Datsun Z-Series 240Z | eBay Wow what happend here ? 🙄
  12. 1970 Datsun 240Z | eBay Where to not lift a z 😑
  13. Yeah I know what it is, I just think it's a bit overkill
  14. The valve cover should be "cast aluminium look " instead of polished...
  15. All those yellow dots remind me of a shop here called " Stipt Polish Point " 😹. Looks cool but a bit over done imo. Can't you just torque everything down without those markings lol
  16. Most of these cars will be ending up just sitting collecting dust sadly
  17. I"m curious how it drives if I would have the chance. Ive seen a lot of " quickly cosmetic refurbished "classics for $$$, but when you drive them you get that feel not everything was done correctly, imo no real car mechanic worked on it, but some backyard hobbyist.
  18. Looks good, love the " Vredestein " tyres.. Dutch brand The choke knob is not the correct one, Dash looks re-sprayed or something, middle console to, and door panels are not original to, partly refurbished. But it is done nicely. For the rest.. really nicely done early 240Z
  19. I called the shop today, he will try to have a look on the other 5 speed coming weeks. Im not in a hurry, he is alone and has lots to do.. So when that is finished I have everthing complete to swap the drivetrain to the euro spec.. I will see when could take a few years, have plenty of things to do now, currently restoring 2 classic mopeds from here ( kreidler and zundapp ).. and also this winter have to finish welding work on the 67 chevelle.
  20. Its done nicely, although I see some points . Front bumper could have been lined up better with the buckets. Shiney underside is nice, but don't drive that in colder states, rust within a year assured
  21. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z-236/ It seems many people back in the day thought the frame rails was a good jacking point....🤭
