  1. I've worked on a very rotten 73 before the car was 3/4 gone, everything can be done with motivation ! Look: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/your-zcar-stories/29248-240z-long-way-new-again-3.html I didn't finish it, because I made a few mistakes on the floor part. But what's important is you need to know how to weld, if not things will be dangerous ! This rust now is also dangerous, a car with rust like that wouldn't be allowed on the road here. If you get a few sheets of 1 mm sheet metal, you can cut out all the pieces you need and weld it in, you will need to do one part first, and then move to another part. But get all the old tar of first.
  2. Reading this topic again, I still thinks it's carbs flooding the engine. When you have the Hitachi carbs back from Ztherapy, use the stock mechanical fuel pump !

@ Carl and Eurodat: the problem is solved with new lug nuts and washers, but don't know how to explain in English. Update: The exhaust is on, also the new kyb schoks! Still waiting for the seats, wanted to drive this weekend, but will be next week. Tomorrow the seats are done.
  7. Hello Chris, how's going so far ?
  8. Nice work Did you soak the carbs in something or what?

  10. No cars, only my Z and my brothers Caprice with a 305 engine. But I do have a 125cc water cooled go kart that I made myself using a 100cc air cooled basis. Top speed is 115 km/h ( automatic ).

I hope so Chas.. Today I managed to finish the front.. the old shocks where " dead "... Lot of work, also because I had to clean everything up, it was all sticky with grease and dirt. And sprayed it black with some paint. Somebody damaged the left front fender..as you can see in picture, it's not much, but (#@$ ! I will get it fixed. I hope to do the back tomorrow. Exhaust shop called that he exhaust is ready wednesday. And the seats also hopefully this week. I saw a compelete set of urethane bushing on ebay, anybody experience with this? Or are they to stiff, and will make my ride a hell ?

Thanks Robert. I know what you mean...I also work on the Z when I have some time between work or after work. I have taken the old exhaust from under the car, including the downpipe, and will bring it to a shop that will make a stock replica. The seats had new covers, but the foam underneath is mostly all gone, this week, I will bring the seats away, to be refurbed with new foam. And also waiting for my KYB schoks that are underway from the states, and will arrive this week.
  16. Thanks for the info Carl.
  17. I also saw a white one in the a-team tv series, I believe the episode trouble on wheels, halfway the episode.
  18. Green paint looks really good on them, especially with that brown interior, nice z !
  19. Datsun 240z Exhaust Down Pipe ? Also found a company here, that can make a reproduction from my old one, should I do that? They ask 185 euro for the replica downpipe..
  20. does anybody know where to get a stock exhaust header ( downpipe ) ? Or an immitation once that's the same as orginal. I don't want the spaghetti alternatives.. If somebody has the measurements of the stock downpipe that would also be good. edit: sorry mods this needed to be in the exhaust section!

  22. Exactly. -> Timing seems okay, and he has a spark -> Compression seems okay fuel issue left... ( he's reporting wet spark plugs and fuel dripping out of carbs )
  23. It's not an american car, weighing 2 tons and a crush zone of a tank, the 240 is a tin can ! But it's all what you want, look on hybridz.. anythings possible if you don't like stock, and you need deep pockets...very deep pockets.
  24. Yeah, sounds like the bowls are not filled quick enough.
