Yes, that's why people can add information here, so I can change things. But I want to keep it in the 1st post, or else it will be a mess.

Datsun ( Nissan ) Z and ZX types of transmissions and differentials
Yes.. that's what I want to prevent with the " confusion " part.. many Z's have been modded, and then the reactions are confusing because they think that R200 came stock on a 260z...

Datsun ( Nissan ) Z and ZX types of transmissions and differentials
Okay so the 280z also came with the R200. And maybe the R200 allready started with the 260z but we are not sure about that yet? @Zed Head i don't want to go by year etc this will make it to complicated. But only by z model and what can be found on them as a general guideline.

Datsun ( Nissan ) Z and ZX types of transmissions and differentials
Since there is still a lot of stuff about these not known exactly and many confusing topics, thousand of pages and myths, I will try here to make it easier. If anyone has additional information or something is not right, please post, then I will modify the 1 post. This is for stock factory transmissions only, NOT competition ones. There are A, B and C types transmissions ( C was never used in Z cars so I will not add these here ) Update 9/7-21 : Also the 4.11 ratio R180 was not used on Z cars ( correct me if I am wrong ) Also not sure if 3.90 was used in the USA on the 260/280Z and ZX So far I have: Nissan S30 Fairlady Z Japan till 1978: F4W71A manual F4W71B manual FS5C71A manual FS5C71B manual 3 speed automatic 3N71A 3 speed automatic 3N71B R180 Differential, possible gear ratios available: 3.36 / 3.54 / 3.90 240Z: Datsun 240Z USA and Canada F4W71A manual F4W71B manual 3 speed automatic 3N71A 3 speed automatic 3N71B R180 Differential, possible gear ratios available: 3.36 / 3.54 Datsun 240Z Europe, UK, rest of the world FS5C71A manual FS5C71B manual 3 speed automatic 3N71A 3 speed automatic 3N71B R180 Differential, possible gear ratios available: 3.54 / 3.90 260Z: Datsun 260Z USA and Canada F4W71B manual FS5W71B manual 3 speed automatic 3N71B R180 Differential, possible gear ratios available: 3.36 / 3.54 / 3.90 Datsun 260Z Europe, UK, rest of the world FS5C71B manual 3 speed automatic 3N71B R180/R200 Differential, possible gear ratios available: 3.54 / 3.90 280Z: Datsun 280Z USA and Canada F4W71B manual FS5W71B manual 3 speed automatic 3N71B R180/R200 Differential, possible gear ratios available: 3.36 / 3.54 / 3.70 / 3.90 ----- ------ ----- ------ ----- ----- 280ZX: Datsun 280ZX USA and Canada F4W71B manual FS5W71B manual 5 speed Borg Warner T5 3 speed automatic Jatco 3N71B R180/R200 Differential, possible gear ratios available: 3.36 / 3.54 / 3.90 Datsun 280ZX Europe,UK, rest of the world FS5W71B manual 5 speed Borg Warner T5 3 speed automatic Jatco 3N71B R180/R200 Differential, possible gear ratios available: 3.54 / 3.70 / 3.90 Nissan S130 Fairlady Z Japan: FS5W71B manual 5 speed Borg Warner T5 3 speed automatic Jatco 3N71B R180/R200 Differential, possible gear ratios available: 3.54 / 3.70 / 3.90

differential insulator early one
Okay guys. Im bumping this up. Another Datsun mystery to solve. I picked up a euro/jdm spec 3.90 r180 ( together with the rare a type 5 speed )and the insulator was on it to. It's in good shape rubber is not cracked. It looks like the later type but there is a slight difference in the looks. ( See picture page 1 from the later mount ). The numbers might say it's a later type but it's not the same as the US version? Euro type mount?

Picked it up today including the 3.90 r180 ( counted it and it's around 4-1 so it's either a 4.11 or 3.90 ? Hè Will search for the driveshaft couldnt find it so quickly.

Help find long lost 240z
if your uncle sold it, your best bet is the name of the person or any info to who he sold out, and go from there. After all these years, he might have forgotten it offcourse

Help find long lost 240z
Yep, and they have mostly gone digital. I tried to rack my dads 240Z to, he didn't kept any information either just some pictures. I only could find it was road tested after damage restoration last in 77 on historical license plate information

Need help 5 speed identification
If i can find the 3.90 r180 and driveshaft i might use it myself.. can the kmh Speedo work on a mph dash? If i change the drive gear? The 280zx 5 speed requires trans tunnel modification for the shifter right? How about the euro A type? Since it had the same monkey style shifter like my A type us spec 4 speed... With the straight shifter Would if fit without modification?
-
Need help 5 speed identification
Very cool, I will go pick it up, it's the A type for sure, very rare.. how often do you find these?! It's usually the B... These used the 3.90 R180 correct ?

-
Need help 5 speed identification
Yes 2 ears. Could be 280 OR 280zx? The 240Z US 4 speed driveshaft yoke should slide right in if im correct?

Need help 5 speed identification

Z's on BAT and other places collection
I see alot of " modernizing " on classic cars ( and shows ) in Murica, sometimes only the shell is left original, the rest is all updated. That's basicall a modern car with a classic shell. Not my kind of thing. A classic should remain a classic imo. You are going to drive a car from 1965 but want modern handling ? Makes no sense. But hey.. everybody to their own offcourse, if that's what they want that's fine..
