Is this Z an indicator that the market is on an up cycle
Wasn't there always a certain kind of people willing to pay more for modded classic cars ? I for sure wouldn't.

Chinese Junk rant
And here's the problem, business owners have been seeking for cheaper manufacturing because of rising labour costs, production costs, building costs, more rules etc over time, and the most logical reason is to go to low labor cost countries, also because they don't want to loose profits.

Chinese Junk rant
I saw a documentary on Chinese mass produced junk destroying the quality market in Europe few days ago. It's true, but what you gonna do about it ? I think nothing personally. I work with Chinese scooters to for my work, but I have to repair them, it's part of my income. They are not that bad, but offcourse things fail quicker, like chrome and buttons and sometimes even structural failures. The engines are pretty good if serviced regulary.

Anyone can help me on NOS bumper guard rubber strips ?
My bumpers are away for re-chroming. I found the longer front and rear rubber strips ( 4 pieces ), but not the 4 ones ( 2 front and 2 rear ) for the bumper guards.. If anyone has them and willing to sell + ship, let me know. Gr Bart

Ferrari 250 replica based on a 260Z wants $ 100,000
Yeah I also was expecting at least a V12 engine from another brand with ITB's.. I remember on HybridZ forums there was a member who also did a replica, but that one seemed better in the details than this one, and it had the V12 BMW engine in it. I googled some and I believe it was this one Ferrari 250 GTO Replica: Based On A Nissan 280Z With A BMW V12!

SU's suddenly running rich
The whole float setting thing is a myth. You either have the proper factory level or it's off, meaning it's worn ( or blocked with gunk ) and it overflows. These carbs where not build to have an electrical fuel pump feed them. ( like captain obvious says above here ) If you need to open the throttle to get it started, and the worse mpg means only 1 thing: it's getting to much fuel.

New SU Carbs on Ebay
What's wrong with Ztherapy restored carbs then ? 99% of the people will not see the difference, they use genuine parts for the rebuild. I feel 1600 is really to much, but somebody might bite..

My Datsun 240Z
The 240Z is heading to the painter tomorrow. I removed the bumpers and the headliner ( for sunroof removal ). The painter will remove all the windows/lights etc and replace all the rubber seals. ( all the seals are in the carton box in the rear of the 240z ) I also managed to buy an original 1971 owners manual from Ebay. The owner said the following: Nissan Motor Corp. reprinted these in 1997 for the Nissan Z-Store- to put in the glove box of the Restored 1970-72 240Z's. I was part of that program restoring Z's. I got these direct from Nissan Motor Corp. So these are NOS of Nissan's reprint.

Z car for daily driver?
My reaction was based on his first post. Driving a classic car isn't something for him, unless he buys a restored one or he is prepared and skilled enough to do all the work himself.

Z car for daily driver?
Don't use it for a daily driver, unless it's a completely restored one. But most people won't use that as a " daily driver ".

Hello from the Bay Area!
Hi Courtney, Welcome to the club and the Datsun virus Cool story on your blog ! My advice ( if you like originality ) would be to get everything back to stock ( su carbs ( better fuel mileage ) and oem mechanical fan ), also tune up and replace as much wear items as possible. Been there done that.... I thought my car was good, until I changed for almost 10 grand on parts to get it reliable ! Like Robert says you'll learn along the way.. Gr Bart
