My Datsun 240Z
While waiting for the tires, started refurbing the turbo wheels today. I am sandblasting them, and giving them the silver finish ( no gloss ), motip wheelspray. I think it looks great..standard look, makes the wheel stand out more, then when it's polished, and I hate polishing by the way

worn out camshaft ? it's coming from the engine I think, not the carbs.

My Datsun 240Z
Hi Doug, If I can't get them here, I will order them in the USA for sure.. It seems many brands make this kind of wheel, but the original ones seem to be the " wolfrace " brand ? I'm not sure. It's a pain anyhow to find classic car aluminium wheels in 14 inch here.. Gr Bart

My Datsun 240Z
I'm thinking what to do, like said above it's some immitation brand, and one wheels has a different ET.. if the wheel goes on the balancer machine they use the center hole, but if the mounting is somewhere out, the rim could balance fine but it doesn't center on the axle..

My Datsun 240Z
Thanks for the info/help guys. I couldn't find any 14 inch wheels for now...damn hard to find here. Today I was able to pick up 15 inch 280zx turbo wheels with the original nuts with them ( just have to put new tires on them, these have a flat spot from sitting over 10 years and are old). So this should fix my vibration problem. I will keep looking out for 14 inch wheels. The problem with my current wheels is that 1 wheel has a different ET, the wheel is not the same as the others and it's some immitation brand, I'm not sure if it's worth fixing these, or just looking for a genuine wolfrace 14 inch set ? At least I have these 15 inch wheels for now, they don't look bad I picked them up fearly cheap, the guy was quitting his Datsun hobby. He had a solid euro 280zx turbo for sale !

Faulty Air temperature sensor
There's a guy in Groningen who has 280Z parts. Look under " Datsun 280Z " in Markplaats, he's called Peter I believe. I like your creativity here

Euro 240Z pics and info.
Well I found out the Scimitar '' GTE '' has the same PCD that matches the 240z's. Also late 60's , 6 cylinder mustangs have the same PCD.

Euro 240Z pics and info.
Just found out the guy never had those wheels under his scimitar gte he said today, he measured the pcd on his car today and it was indeed the same as 240z PCD of 114.3. The wheels he sold where a smaller PCD, but he advertised them as GTE wheels..

Talking about Scimitar GTE.. yesterday I went looking for 14 inch mag wheels, and one guy near Amsterdam had them advertised as 114.3 PCD. Same as 240z right ? I took one of my wheels with me, but upon measuring his PCD seemed smaller like 108 , anyhow it was not the same ? Are there different PCD sizes for the GTE ? ? Steering wheel vibration/wobbling problem still not found
Oh yeah it did ! I almost went mental on this issue.. But now the next step.. finding classic 14 inch wheels for it. It seems in the USA plenty.. but here ?
-
My Datsun 240Z
Yup. I have been looking for classic 14 inch wheels, but it's going to be hard here.. I've called a dozen shops allready, but none seem to have.

Steering wheel vibration/wobbling problem still not found
Problem found... chas's wheels solved the problem, it was not even aligned yet, but a steady ride finally.. now I know where to look, possibly other new rims and bolts..

My Datsun 240Z
I allready tested yesterday with the new rebuild steering rack, slight difference but not much. I also read their site, and thought that could be it, that's why I let a shop rebuild the steering rack..it had to be done anyhow. @ rcb280z: allready tried that to, in our out of gear no difference !

My Datsun 240Z
I bet it's the wheels/rims to ! I'm going to try yours.. It looks like radial runout tire or rim
-
Steering wheel vibration/wobbling problem still not found
Although the new rebuild steering rack feels more solid, shimmy is less, but still there..yup I'm going to try chas wheels next step..

Steering wheel vibration/wobbling problem still not found
Does your steering wheel also shimmy ?
-
Steering wheel vibration/wobbling problem still not found
I'm going to try chas' wheels when I have my steering rack back and the problem is not solved It could be radial runout maybe.. The FSM also point towards that direction: Shimmying: this is abnormal vibration of the front suspension group and the entire steering linkage, and occours when a specific speed is attained. Possible causes: Difference in height of left and right tire treads. Corrective action: replace tires That would suck because I just bought for about 400 euro on Dunlop tires last year and they barely made km's..
