Spotted this one on I-85 near spaghetti junction (285) in Atlanta. Gave him the thumbs up from my S4.

I saw these two outside of my Z mechanic's shop (John Williams) northeast of Atlanta. A white prestine - almost Concours - 1970 240z and another one set to race.

Subscribed to this thread as mine is shot and looking to buy a 73 heater core.

Aside from all these outstanding garages and cool cars, I'm more impressed with this ongoing thread. Over 4 years and regular posts. So here's mine. Just added the garage to the existing house last year. Inside fits the new (to me) '73 Z, '12 Audi S4, 2008 MDX and a '85 Toyota pickup. Oh and a free tax credit neighborhood electric vehicle (golf cart w seat-belts and signals)
  5. I found a broken cheapo gold watch and holes in the passenger side due to a leaking heater core.
  6. Follow up now that the Z has been on a lift, it's got a full 280z swap of motor and transmission and not an original 5 speed. Guess I should have been able to spot the engine - such a rookie. Anyway, now I know! Thanks all.
  7. Thanks all. Great group here full of knowledge.
  8. Here's the full page from the Haynes manual that started my concerns. Trying to figure out the rotate image process....
  9. So if the Haynes manual is correct, what is the difference between an HLS30U and an HLS301 ( or an HS30U )? Here's the VIN badge from my Z. So, is it an original 5sp based on this and the Haynes manual?
  10. Naw, I'm dealing with a guy in the Sugar Hill area off Peachtree Industrial who restores only old Z's. I just got it a couple weeks ago and trying to get on his schedule for a full once-over. He's got an awesome set of tools... Haha
  11. Just down the road from you in Buford!
  12. I suspected this. Gotta get it on the lift, pics to follow.
  13. So maybe my Z came via Canada? Or overseas?
  14. The 1973 240z that I've recently purchased is a 5mt. I assumed that it had some work done on it to convert it to a 5mt with a newer transmission, maybe from a 280z. However with some research and a Hayens manual, it seems that I have an original 5 speed based on my VIN and this page below. I'm wondering about how to verify that it is truly an original 5mt and if this is a big deal or not. Thanks! HLS30167378 is my VIN

So dealers installed slotted mags and Z center caps? Or are these aftermarket? ...and I'm thinking about plastidipping mine.
  16. Thanks for the tips guys. I'm considering plastidipping the silver wheels instead of shining them up now. Gotta love options....
  17. Great point! Those were the lugs on the old set of Fondmetal wheels. Anyone see value in these? I can't stand 'em. Seem rare. Italian made and up for sale.
  18. Thanks! It's obvious I have a lot to learn here. I thought these were stock wheels and center caps that came on the 240z. Are they all aftermarket parts?
  19. I just bought my 240z a couple of weeks ago and was surprised to find this set of OEM steelies for sale nearby. What's the best method to clean these up to looking "like new?"
