Nissan aftermarket rims?
Help.... I bought some aftermarket rims for my 1971 240Z... They had "rally tires" on them which are extremely hard sidewalls. I took them to my favorite mechanic and he would have nothing to do with removing these and recommended a truck/farm tire store who did the job.. Now I have the rims and will strip them down and repaint them. We did try one on the car and they look great (but shabby). Now, for the problem... These will require half inch shank lug nuts but I am concerned that the ones I have are too narrow. I suspect I will need to order lug nuts, hopefully, from Nissan but first I have to identify the rims. I did the google search thing and came up empty...or at least nothing jumps out as to what they are... here is what I know from what is embossed on the rims... They clearly have the word NISSAN embossed in them... then are 15 inch rims; 7 inches wide and a gold snowflake pattern... also embossed in the rims are these codes.... 40300......6 JJ x 1510.......P9000...and finally FZ4.... Any suggestions as to lug nuts or what these rims are? I don't want to order Gorilla lug nuts 12mm 1.25 with a half inch shank if they are NOT thick enough.... and yes, I have contacted Nissan via email this weekend too... but I suspect someone will know on this forum... thanks!

tail light lens help
Ahhhh just one more post on this.... Arne.... the plate on the car said it was manufactured in August of '71 which makes it a "series 2" I believe..... if I did the research right... When I order parts, I order for a 1970.... if I order for a 1971 there are a few clearing houses that understand the break in the model year beginning on September 1, 1971 and many parts were changed at that time.... This has been a problem twice now, so I just order for a 1970... and it is right all the time... I am going to put the two brake lights on the two top sockets, the back up light in the obvious white lens socket, and the other bulb in the lower socket, number three on your picture.... Thanks again...Dennis

Arne... thought you might like to look at the final coat of paint on the car, which is the sixth and final coat of single stage enamel... It has been sanded down twice after the second and fourth coats to eliminate the orange peel... wish I could get farther away to take a better picture, but our part of the state got 12 inches of heavy wet snow yesterday so the doors have to stay shut to the shop.... Have a good one...

tail light lens help
Arne! Thanks!!! I couldn't ask for more... and pictures to boot!!! I have a few friends here in Minnesota that would laugh at me and tell me that I do better with pictures rather than words..... This is the third problem I have run into, since I did not take the car apart... but got a big box of parts with it... I realized after a week of inventorying the parts, that the rear bumper was not there... probably just as well because someone had painted the front one green....Everything else is coming together on the car... I might need to ask about the front wiring but now the back wiring makes sense... and the wiring harness up front looks kind of intuitive too.... PS.. When I went to You Tube videos to try to figure out the lights, there was one that had the same lens, but the bottom lights were amber and white.... white obviously the backup, so the other one on the bottom, amber, was obviously the turn signal... but, since all three of mine were red I simply didn't know... Thanks again.... and have a good one....

tail light lens help
It's such a simple question... but when I bought my car, a 1971 240Z, the previous owner had already started taking it apart including the rear tail lights and lens structures.... The car is painted and I am now putting it back together. Today I cleaned up all the bulbs and checked the sockets. I know which two bulbs are the brake lights... I know which bulb is the backup light.... but I don't know where to place three of them into the lens structure... Are the brake lights the top two sockets? Is the turn signal on the bottom? I would have a clue if one of the lenses was "amber" but all three are red like the picture... Can someone with a 1971 240 Z tell me what part is supposed to light with brakes? running lights? and turn signals so I can put this together tomorrow? Thanks....PS... One of the bulbs was "amber" on one side, and on the other side there was not an "amber" bulb.... Are the turn signal bulbs supposed to be amber when the lenses are red? or did someone use the wrong one? Thanks again....

Side Decal
Hi Bryan... Quick question though.... it looks like the exact same decal as the one I have rolled up sitting in front of me.... how was it applied? There are two methods depending the type of decal, which I found through my research.... or was it professionally done at a body shop? Method one: soapy water on area, apply decal.... position decal, squeezee and let dry.... or Method two: set decal in place with the backing intact... tape in place after positioning and happy, and then split the decal in two with the decal having an adhesive backing... squeezee out any imperfections/bubbles.... Thanks...

Side Decal
Hi... paint process is almost done, and need to ask a couple questions about the decal pictured in the attachment. How long should I wait to apply it (paint cure; single stage enamel).... and.... Has anybody applied this one? On research, there are two kinds of decals... one you apply with a water/soap and move it in place kind, and the second is tape in place and use the two step peel off.... If you have done this decal, can you tell me which it is and give me a few hints? I have watched a couple of You Tube videos but need to know what type this is... any/all help appreciated... thanks...

Ignition Switch
Bought a 1971 240Z manufactured in August.... starting was difficult and to make a long story short, the switch does not make contact when the key is turned to "start" meaning no power to the coil.... I need a new switch. Looked at all of them from several suppliers and they are ALL wrong. So I pulled the switch to see if I could find the correct parts number on it.. no such luck (did find an HO 60) but??? I did order a switch for a 1970 240Z and took a photo of it next to my bad switch... both are five terminal... the one on the right is larger (the new one) and mine is a smaller diameter with only one connecting screw... The entire key assembly is a Kanto Seiki KV-3..... I only need the five position switch.... All ideas appreciated... I would love to contact Kanto Seiki but Japanese is not my strong suit... I did contact Nissan, and tried to chat with their online parts... they asked me for the parts number I needed and that is when I knew there was not going to be any help there.... I am VERY close to getting a momentary switch at Radio Shack and wiring it directly from the battery to the coil and using it at the same time as I turn the key to start to send the pure 12 volt juice to the ignition system... I did that to hotwire the car to prove the start terminal on the switch was bad.... otherwise, the switch is fine... BUT I would rather find the correct switch... hate cobbled stuff.... PS... the third attachment is of two key positions.. on my KV-3 mine is the five position on the right.... Any help is appreciated.... and thanks! Dennis
