1970 240z, it it worth it?
Keep an eye on the overboard Carb Drains if you have the SU carbs. If the things overflow, they might just drip the excess onto the exhaust manafold..... just a thought. I ran into this prob and scared the hell out of me!!

240Z muffler
llylaclama@aol.com I had the same problem in florida. Ended up chosing the ferrari vertical two-up tail pipes and the headers. Worked very well. did not distract from the Z-sound but more of a "purr". Need to watch out for ground clearance though. I will do the same configuration on me next Z car.

Weber Carbs
you would do right to get the '72 SU carbs. They are the original, and perfom great.

71 240 SERIES 1
Get the original SUs ... easieer to tune and easier to find...

muffler!
Try the ferrari over-under with the header .... sounds great without distracting from the stock machine.... but watch the clearance. Probably can order from Momo. Try it.

I want to buy a 240z...what should I look for?
atanaka Sorry not to tell you about the other part of your question: Rust will begin in the lower left side of the glass of the rear hatchback .... universally. It seems that the drain is less than perfect back there. It is really a cancer that needs treatment as soon as you identify it. I live in Florida, and the other rust-points did not come into play except the lower rear hatch. Don't know why, but would like to hear other other ideas.

I want to buy a 240z...what should I look for?
atanaka If you are a true 240Z afficionado, you want to concentrate on the '72 model. 1973 put the first polution control on the car and shot down its performance. 1974 increased the horsepower to compensate, and then came the abomination of the 260z to overcome all of the above plus the A/C and power options. I would suggest the 1971 - 72 models if you can. The side updraft carbs are efficient and somewhat easy to balance. I bought a 73 model and put in a 72 engine and carbs. Much more horsepower.... help me folks, but something like 155 BHP on a stock 6-cylinder engine. Go for the '72 if you can get her.

Help me find my girl
My girl was a 73 240Z ... replaced engine with '72 (block, carbs, etc...for obvious reasons). Interior rebuilt. Absolute stock except for Ferrari vertical stack tailpipes and headers. Worked with a Z specialist in Eustis, Fl. to get her roadworthy. Had to trade her to go to college. Metal-flake Brown on Brown paint (original Lime green oversprayed). She was my baby. Serious case of Z-fever. Would like to get her back home. Limited $$, but willing to negotiate. Have you seen her? If so, I would like to talk. In case she is gone, I am interested in a 72 vehicle that I can treat as my own. Again, I have the fever and was upset that Nissan stopped the rebuy of old 240's and reconditioning for sale. Any other reasonable offers are welcome ... I want to get back into the 240 sports again ... it's been too long.
