zx limted slip?
the R200 case out of the R31 is the same, i got mine with no plates ro connect the half shafts to (sorry i cant remeber what they are called:stupid: ) so i had the ones off my old R200 put on by a diff specialist, this could be the only difference. remeber its the R31 skyline GTS the boxy one that came to Aus

Racing Harness (Seatbelts)
i thought that might be the case. see what your engineer says about the legality of them on the street. If you get pulled over by a cop and he wants to be a ba#$%rd he can defect you for not having ADR approved belts. you can get around this by leaving in your original seat belt as well, check out G260's gallery, geoff has this setup though im not sure if there are any pictures of it in there.

zx limted slip?
last time i spoke to him they were about a grand, they go straight in, half shafts and all. they look identical to the non LSD r200's. they come out of R31 skylines GTS's.

CLUNK in rear passenger side
i used to have that clunk on the left back too, only when going over bumps, it was awful. i ended up putting up with it till i put in all new coil overs in, struts, springs, shocks, bushes, brakes, the lot and then it dissapeared. i have no idea what it was, so this is a pretty useless post. :stupid:

240 vs. porsche...
early 928 porshes (4.7) arent as quick as a modded 240, with a quick L28/cam/ported/bored etc, same as non turbo 911's Pre 993 series, in a straight line. remember a 240 with a fast L28 is capable of high 13 second 1/4 mile times with twin SU's. of course who knows what can happen when it comes to the crunch. although i could also be full of crapLOL

Revitalizing a battery...
empty out the battery acid, replace it with distilled water and put it on trickle charge for a couple of days, if they dont come up to a healthy voltage they are shot. my 2 cents though someone else may know better.

OT: What car next??
nathan, ive got a website which has a detailed list with the new rules what you can and cant bring in, ill dig it up and post it. the problem with the new rules is that its now impossible to obtain a import permit to bring in a car for yourself, you have to be a registered car importer, i just tried to bring in a supra a couple of weeks ago, modifications to the cars are ok as long as it can be complied.
-
OT: What car next??
aah i see what you mean, yeah cars over 15 years old are duty free (15% on a car). you also cant privatly import a car anymore until its 15 or over.

OT: What car next??

what performance mods for a n42 L28??
the get compression out of a p90 you need to shave the head at least 80thou i think it results in around 10 to 1 with flatops (if im wrong one of you guys knows the excact figures) i had my P90 ported and polished at the same time as i had it shaved for compression so im not sure of the cost of shaving the head but this would be the only cost in getting the needed compression. i wouldnt say its big bucks to get the performance from a p90, the hardest thing would be to find one (in Aus anyway).

Are 240Z steering wheels actually wood??
collapsable steering columns were made mandatory in Aus in 73 but all zeds had them anyway, wood steering wheels turned into a no no becouse some had a tendancy to splinter in an accident and stab people.

Are 240Z steering wheels actually wood??

su carb oil
ive talked to a few people with 30+ years on these carbs and apparently sewing machine oil is the way to go, its nearly spot on to the original oil. you can get it from petrol stations (or i assume sewing machine shops?:stupid: ) the only probelm i have with the stuff is it seems to dissapear after a while, so i tend to run no oil at all.

Introducing myself and my problems...
you might as well check the floats its easy enough, pull them out and put them in a dish of water, if they fall to the bottom they are buggered. when this happens in the carbies the engine will flood and it will run like crap. its possible this could be the problem, when your driving the revs are up and fuel is being kept at an acceptable level in the float chambers, when the car idles it doesnt uses as much fuel, the float chambers fill up and the carbies flood. just a thought, its worth checking. if they are ok then make sure they are adjusted correctly for the right float hight, sorry i cant remember what the correct float height is.
