wakefield no speed limit day
yeah i hate to think what would have happened at 120 instead of 70. we had 5 z's there including mine and a mixed bag of other cars which made up the numbers. yeah we have them about 3 times a year, im moving to the states for a while in a couple of months so i wont be around for the next one but PM me your email and ill put it on the list. alternativly they'll always be posted on the sydney z car club website.

wakefield no speed limit day
yeah you missed a good day, im waiting on a cd full of pix which ill upload when i get them. no times really, most of had passengers on board and were out for more 'fun' than times. everything was great until i drove home. i changed back to my road tyres i had a mate 'do up' my wheel nuts. the front left wheel came completely off the car at 70kph. my 600 dollar simmons wheel proceeded to rip apart my front guard, bounce, smash the rear guard, run flat out into a parked car and smashed its tail llight and rear guard. It then traveled along the grass, turned right and smashed into my now stationary car door. luckily the wheel nuts all fell off within a few metres of each other. so im left with a smashed front and rear guard, a dented door, "modified" front left suspension and a bill for the other guys car. the rim seems ok. moral of the story: Even if you have schumachers pit crew if its your car, you do the wheel nuts up.

Gas drips out of right side by above tire
ok mine doesnt look like that. notice how the hose loops right up. mine is pulled tighter so the hose basically doesnt go any higher than the filler neck. you should really check this out to see if it does loop up higher as that would definitely help out, im just waaaaay to lazy to do anything about it.

Gas drips out of right side by above tire
yep, happens to mine as well. a right pain in the arse. most noticeable during hard left hand turns with over half a tank. i can actually watch the fuel pouring out onto the ground in my rear vision mirror. On mine its the vent hose just below the filler opening. A trusty bolt wedged into the hose suffices for track days (needs to be vented after every race), Its like this on all Aussie 240's, im pretty sure the aus 260 has the vent tank however.

P-plate restrictions discussed
im not on my P's so it doesnt really concern me but.... The able age to obtain a licence should NOT be raised, how many 17 year olds need their licence for their Jobs? i did, and i would have been pissed if i was an apprentice electician/ plumber etc at 16 an told i would have to wait until my fourth year before i could drive. It would be unacceptable. While a defensive/advanced driver school would be no doubt effective in teaching younger drivers to handle themselves in dangerous situations try convincing your state gov to set up the infrastructure to handle the volumes of new drivers...aint gonna happen. Limiting drivers to low power cars? might help a little...(NSW currently has no restrictions on this)if it can be policed effectivley. (who's to know that innocent little Z is packing a 5.7 litre V8? or that Rx7 has a turbo the size of an aircraft prop underneath??) Curviews? i got into just as much trouble on my P's at 3 in the arvo as i did at 3 in the morning. my one and only prang was in the afternoon while being a dickhead racing a mate ( and i was by myself). Limiting the amount of passengers? i know i tended to "show off" a little more with passengers so thats a consideration, again if t can be effectivly policed. and will it really make a difference? At the end of the day though your not going to stop teenage bravado, they all have that spirit. its just over the last century they now have have access to vehicles that do more damage when they come adrift. If we are going to sanitize life so much as to keep applying harsher and harsher rules/penalties we might as well trade in our Z's for Corolla's now (or better yet start catching the train!) hey im all for cutting the road toll down, who isnt. but if new regs like the above come into effect they will have little impact except to fatten up the state gov's pockets. my 2 cents

wakefield no speed limit day
naaah, itll pretty much be a 100 bucks regardless, the price will go down if we get over 32 cars, 35 is the limit (which we should get pretty easily) where the cost should go down to 80 bucks.....

Tach Adapter or Tach Work
dont know about the ballast resistor, im going through the same thing. got a mate who made up a circuit with a mosfet and a couple of resistors which got it working. only thing is it fried once i put it on the track (constant high RPM). once version 2 is up and running and doesnt fry ill post the diagram. should cost aout 15 bucks in parts from a radio shack.

Dyno results - what do you think?
my 3 litre made 160hp @ wheels with properly tuned su carbs, not bad.... but custom fuel injection saw it jump to 218hp. thats a fair difference on what the SU's could achieve compared to fuel injection - at least on my engine anyway....

Carbs
they are all hitachi carbs, the 240 carbs are SU copies. not sure if the flattop emissions carbs are a copy of SU's or not though, but they are all made by Hitachi.

How long can a rotary last at 9k rpm?
ok then, then a rotory in an s30 isnt as ideal for most purposes compared to alternate engines (eg circuit and drag racing, day to day driving etc) not necessarily the discussed project.

How long can a rotary last at 9k rpm?
the problem isnt front end stability , its the weight balance of the car, a tiny rotory sitting far back in the engine bay of an s30 is alot different to an L sitting in there. adding weight is defeating the purpose becouse by the time you get the balance right you can put a different engine in there (eg RB series) that balances better and reliably puts out more power. its a fun project but by no means ideal
