  1. which wire is the dash lights?

Okay after cleaning the fuses when I jump the W/R to the red I"ve got good lights, add in the green which was loose and I've also got running lights.With the W/R where it belongs and the red disconnected. I've got good power at the out from switch half of the red wire until I connect it to the other half of the red wire, I have the tester connected to a hole in the casing and the second I hook up the wire it loses power. for now I might wire up a toggle. any clues based on that?
  3. Jumped the W/R to the red and got one headlight dim and the other one barely even lighting. It was reading 14 volts at the W/R.

  5. Took her out for the first real drive since 2000, it was a no brake adventure:eek: but noticed that the choke light blinks with my turn signals, that can't be right. Thanks for the help I'll take a look at that wiring diagram.
  6. So with a good fuse, if I ran power to the large red wire, I would then have my headlights on? And the white/red is the power wire?
  7. Does any anybody have a color coded wiring diagram for the steering column? I've got the car mobile again and would love having headlights.
  8. An clue how much the new lenses will be? I would temporarily loan out my map light in trade for a new dome light lenses. BTW I like the frosty for myself.
  9. How about the dome light lenses? I bet there would be a ton of demand if no one else is making them. I know mine is fubar.
  10. Scrubbing 13 years of unwashed grime as we speak. I've never seen a car this dirty before. I finally got a day nice enough to do it today. Its kinda pink right now, couple gours with the buffer and she'll be red again. I'll post pics when its done tomorrow.
  11. I didn't do anything to the wiring except repair/rewire the fuel sender, and add the starter switch. I'll look at that and see if its easier to read.
  12. So as I posted before I have an early 260z that sat for 12 years. At some point several parts were stolen off of it. At the same time somehow the steering column cover left the steering column and landed in the hatch. Well now it has the following issues. First when you turn the key forward the fuel pump comes on power gos to the coil, but not much else no headlights, no turn signals no brake light. Turn to start and nothing happens, instead figuring it out for now I just ran a button to the starter, now once its running I have brake lights, turn signals, but still no headlights or wipers and only a gas gauge and a speedo. I always have interior lights and choke light. I checked fuses and found one blown but no gain. I found something obviously related as the two wires on top of the headlight/wiper switch are dissconected I found the green/yellow hanging loose one but am not sure where it goes don't what the other color even is supossed to be. I need ti figure out how its supposed to wired. I read up in the fsm but those wiring diagrams lose me fast and it really can't help the other problems. Any clues? I'm suspecting the ignition switch but the turn signals working when running is weird to me. I also wondered if this seatbelt interlock thing could be my problem but I son't even know to find out if I have it. There no buzzers or anything on start up. It has had an amatuer resto in the eighties. Any help would be apreciated.
  13. We were actually just talking about that. It has a dual DGV conversion. I don't think it should seep fuel into the engine like that regardless of whether or not the pump is running, unless I missed something. It has a vent hood from a 280z but the vents are gone, one carb was getting rain and snow for 11 years while it sat outside. It's working but takes forever to warm up and hesitates on throttle and back fires out this carb sometimes. I was thinking of getting a major kit from pierce manifolds for this one, are there any cheaper vendors than them? I think the front one is fine but I think a major kit is in order for the back, what do you guys think?
  14. Or least that's what popped into head as I looked at my gas soaked fender wondering if what just happened hurt anything. Back up a month or so when this crazy relationship started, or even farther back when it truly started. My brother bought this car, its an early 260z, 13 years ago, we enjoyed it for awhile but after the struts went bad he stopped driving it and started considering doing a full tilt build, and installing a SBC. He got distracted by other projects and never did much with this one I was a small child at the time but really loved the car. As I got older I almost ended up with it at 16 but it never went through. Well I now gave become very mechanicaly inclined, and also have a 53 studebaker coupe project in storage. I needed a daily driver and it just so happened that he needed to get rid of the car. So We cracked opem the garage last month and got to reviving. During this time I posted a thread about needing starter help. As mine wasn't functioning properly someone posted a link to the fsm which I used take apart and clean my starter, and have used many times since then(thanks again) I chased a fuel issue for awhile to only conclude What I had done wasn't good enough for what was in the gas tank, which out to be black, fuel pump killing, paint eating, carb pluging, slime from hell. And several massive chunks of rust. I had it done by a radiator shop got it running again this weekend. Then proceeded to leap out the drivers seat and yell (this was midnight), SHE'S ALIVE which really freaked out a guy driving in an HRR(we where on the street). The next day I made the mistake of leaving key forward while helping my bro with his subie, and the back carb filled up the cylinders so full that when I went the turn the starter the motor stopped cold. We pulled the plugs and turned it over so it could lauch a massive amount of gas into my brothers eyes. But after pumping the cylinders empty putting everything back she ran fine. There are few things I need to get figured out yet of course but I figured I would introduce myself here, seems a little more active than Zcar.com. I almost forgot my brother a tually gave me this car for my B-day last month I had planned to buy it from him but he just handed me the keys and happy birthday. I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship. I buy her all these things and give whatever she needs but she just spits fuel in my brother face. But when she's finally happy with me I dance around like a dumb dog:stupid:An abusive relationship maybe but I think the car is just so sexy I don't even care:love:
  15. it was dirty as hell inside, and had some rust but it was pretty easy to do. the car sat for 12 years so it wasn't very nice inside.
  16. Nothing like that feeling when at 2am after disasembling cleaning, and reasembling your starter you wander out to your brothers subaru pop the hood and use his battery to bench test your work, and it actually wings over for once.

    I need my starter to start my car by this weekend. It has other plans though. With vigorous beatings it will start turning the car over. Does anyone know how to open one of these dammed things? I need to at least try and fix this one as I'm not sure when the local flaps will get one in. So anybody got an idea? Are other ones that will work in it's place that the local shops might carry?
