I purchased a pressure gauge and after work will be cutting in. I plan on leaving it in engine bay. Is this a bad idea,or ok. What pressure will I b looking for?

I have cut open fuel filter. It is clean.

The car has 50,000 miles. Interior looks brand new. No tears, cracks, or wear of any kind. She has sat up for a long time. However the PO told me all this and that he had done a complete gas line drain and overhaul. And that he had been driving it off and on for about 6 months. And like I said, from Detroit to Atlanta I felt like a 20 year old again. Stopped 3 times for gas. No incidents. Tomorrow I'm going to cut open fuel filter I replaced to look for rust. This past tree weeks is the longest it's sat up since I've had it.but only because of this problem.

Where will I find the fuel pump relay, just to cover bases?

Not sure if this will have any bearing on problem, but I have also replaced the exhaust manifold due to a leak. Along with a 5 speed trans. Problem showed up less than 50 miles after this work. That's when I went for all the other parts I mentioned

It will, but only as long as I'm feathering gas. When I stop, it stops. Thank you for responding.

I'm definitely no mechanic, but I flew to Detroit when I bought car. Drove over 750 miles without a hiccup to Atlanta.Even touched 115 mph a couple of times.could it still be timing? I'm leaning towards fuel pump. Monday I'm going to "cut in" a fuel pressure gauge. It will be permanent . Tomorrow I will be cutting the fuel filter I replaced to look for rust. My z will start and idle, run a few seconds and die. If I punch gas it dies immediately. If I feather gas I can make it scream. To date I have replaced, wires, plugs, cap, and button. AFM, throttle body position switch, fuel filter and battery. Have not yet checked fuel pressure. Please anyone.........
