Well, I have my fingers crossed that this motor lasts... The rear diff is nasty looking. I am going to degrease it and see whats going on there.

not trying to brag, but I an very lucky to find such a great Z! Ordered a set of heater hoses since the braided ones are leaking. Also, th ebrake pedal went straight to the floor. So I got a few more things to do before she hits the road. If any local guys want to come out and tinker let me know.

Well, I had a lovely Saturday with this old gal... I replaced the battery, drained the old gas, filled her up with new gas, and got the stuck drum off. With a little bit of starter fluid and a few turns of the key she started up...then got on fire! Luckily I was prepared and had an extinguisher on hand. No harm was down. The vent tube on the front carb is pissing out fuel when she turns over. The float is either stuck or leaking. Hope to find out soon...she sounded sooooo good. I have no idea what cam is installed but I liked how it sounded. A few problem I noticed is the horn sticks and there is an after market horn installed in under the hood. The OEM radio does not turn on, probally becasue the PO had an aftermarket stereo system and there are wires everywhere.

I like the 15s look because the spokes have a slight curve to them

Lookin good! I plan going with the rewinds too, but choosing the right tire size is tough. Right now my Z has 205/60/14(f) and225/55/14® from the previous owner. I want to run the new BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 but they only come in 195/55/15, 205/50ZR16, 205/55ZR16, 215/55ZR16, 225/50ZR16. My Z is lowered with Eibachs springs.
  10. It was awesome! I was looking to get either an old 911/912 or a 240z...well the 240z found me first.

Maybe I should ask you guys what I should do before I turn that start switch... I had the previous owner hand turn the motor and it was free. So I know at least it is not frozen or worse. I am tempted to just pump the old fuel out of the tank, add a gallon, and see if she turns over. I am also worried about the condition of the motor...the previous owner said it ran great prior to parking it. He said he sat it because he was going to do a Chevy small block swap. So he could be telling the truth or there may be something wrong...who knows. I may just drop the motor/trans and have the sent off to be refreshed. From what I read the l28 w/cams and SU carbs is a nice setup. I am looking to use this as a fun, maybe daily driven in the summer car. I don't need huge power either. I can't wait to see what comes of this car!

Hello, my name is Goob (my birth name Jeremy) and I snagged this from the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA yesterday. 1972 Datsun 240Z L28 motor with moderate cam, Eibach springs Boge shock Front and rear sway bars 6-1 headers 4 speed trans Air dam Electronic ignition. It has been sitting for 3 years so I have some work to do. This is my first restoration/project car so I hope to learn alot and get this Z back on the road. There are a bunch unkowns with this car: Milage on the motor What cams How the electronic ignition was done Will she start/run but this is what makes it fun...right?
