  1. Thanks! Im not a huge fan of the HID projector housings. They seem like they just dont fit the car. These are brighter than stock but I would like to do the harness upgrade eventually. Hows your car coming along?
  2. Yeah I did notice a couple of them rubbed a little bit after I added a larger diameter washer. I'll remove those. I may try and find some with a lower profile. Thanks for the heads up!
  3. Update! Got the car back from the body shop with the hood and fenders installed. Started on getting the rest of the front end put on. Access panels, headlight buckets, headlights, etc. New hardware for the headlight assemblies from Autozone. Freshly zinc plated buckets New adjustment screw clips Assembling buckets All put together with headlights installed Installed on car Also got my Ramair foam filters from across the pond. They fit great. It will be interesting to see the difference with them on and off at the dyno. I decided to use some new yellow zinc bolts for my inner fenders instead of the painted bolts because I hate when the paint chips off when you tighten them and I think it looks cool. Also dry fitted my front air dam to see how it looked. Its got the typical waves in it and fits like arse so it will take some work but its starting to look like a Z again! I also combined my 280 grill and 240 grill to make it bolt up. Also a work in progress.

  5. Hi guys, i'm considering getting a set of the BC coilovers. They require you to cut off your strut housing leaving a 2" nub. The new assembly slides over the 2" nub and then you weld the new assembly to the base. Sounds easy enough, right? My question is this.... is it necessary to remove the wheel bearings to do so? Maybe im being lazy but it would be soooo much easier to just unbolt the assembly from the car, weld them on, then reinstall. Other than having to remove the brand new bearings I just put in, probably have to buy new bearings, reinstall and repack with grease. Will the welder heat up the carrier so much that it could warp the bearings? Just wanted your thoughts.   8. That seems way overpriced. Thats a good price for an early 240Z in that condition. The aftermarket sunroof would be a deal breaker for me personally. You can find good 280's around for 5-7k.

  10. Thanks man, luckily i've had a little experience from working at an upholstery shop when I was a teenager. So that helped. Haha, well I can't do motor work or body work/paint. What impresses me is seeing the guys on here that can rip apart a motor and rebuild it. Now that takes skill. Live long and prosper

  12. I worked on my seats while the Z is at the body shop. I purchased the new covers from MSA. My foam was still in relatively good shape so I decided to just steam clean them and keep it. I followed this thread http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/44331-diy-how-to-recover-your-z-seats-lots-of-pictures/ I cant stress enough how important it is to make sure to use lots of heat when installing the covers, it makes all the difference. I used a steamer and also let the covers sit out in the sun for 15 to 20 minutes. Heres what I started with. Here are the new covers Side by side pics of the old and new covers First I removed the old covers and cleaned up the frames and gave them a fresh coat of paint. Added some high density foam to replace the nasty horse hair. Cushion installed Than the backs, these were a little more tricky. Cut the new holes Cleaned up all the hardware and reinstalled Final product. Overall I think they turned out pretty good. Not perfect concourse quality but I am happy with them.
  13. I believe i got the rear dog leg pieces from Black Dragon. I bought some 18 gauge and 20 gauge sheet metal pieces from Home Depot for the rest.

  19. Awesome! I was seriously considering purchasing this car but couldnt pull the trigger just by seeing the pictures. It looks fantastic! Glad to see it go to someone on this forum.
  20. Well, since there was no seats in the car he didnt want to put it on the dyno. So he timed it and synced the carbs as close as he could. It sounds a whole lot better. Its at the body shop now getting the fenders and hood installed. In the mean time I ordered my seat covers from MSA and will be working on those while the car is gone.
