Advice on Recent 1978 280Z Purchase
I'd keep it as original as possible with one exception. Well, maybe two. I'd swap the automatic for a five speed but bag and tag every part that's removed in the swap. I'd also put SUs on it but that's just my love of trouble free carbs and all things mechanical.

Did he or did he not know what this looks like?
Interesting. Yesterday it was announced by ABC news that the Oregon and Washington supply of the Pfizer vaccine was to be cut by 40%, for now. In the same breath they added that Pfizer has millions of doses in storage waiting for shipping instructions. Anyone care to speculate why the left coast is getting less than was promised?

COVID-19
Good news today. Kathy's Covid-19 test came back negative. We're both going to stay home for a few days to see if we remain asymptomatic.

COVID-19
Well, CRAP. Our daughter and her boyfriend have just tested positive for Covid-19. Neither one has severe symptoms, so far. Kathy had the most recent contact with her. Kathy got tested this morning but no results back yet. I sure hope we've dodged this bullet. There's still the possibility that Kathy and I had it last April and hopefully have enough antibodies left to fight it off, if we have been exposed to it. We were never tested for it back then.

Weird Residue Inside coolant Passages
It's predominantly rust. I saw a lot of that when I worked for a ship repair company. I'd hot tank it but I'd probably put a few of drops of muriatic acid on it first, just for fun.

Ruined Wheel Hub?
The extra $17.00 that O'Reilly charges probably goes towards all that advertising that we wish would go away.Timken bearings have always been my first choice.

240 series 1 su bowls
I agree. The bowls should be the same with the confession that I've never had a reason or felt the urge to remove the float bowls from the carb bodies.

Electric fuel pumps
I own a 1st gen. RX7. The elec. pump in it is virtually silent. Many z owners over the years have reported using the 1st gen. RX7 pumps (not sure about later gens) with satisfactory results.

Citric acid and rust
I use Ospho which uses phosphoric acid as the active ingredient. It removes rust quite well and leaves a film of iron phosphate. When I'm ready to paint I wipe the area down with a little baking soda, and water on a sponge. Then a water rinse and a wipe down with lacquer thinner.

COVID-19
Well, There's good news and bad news. The good news, Kathy was exposed to Covid-19 by another volunteer last week. She was tested yesterday and received the negative results back today. She'll be quarantining one more week. The bad news, There must be some kind of memory scrubber in the infrared thermometers the stores are using to check customers temperatures. I went to the store yesterday to pick up milk, and bread. I came home with beer, donuts.

He can't control Covid 19, nor can he throw it under a bus. The only other option in his playbook is ignore it and hope It will go away like a miracle.

Sociopathic Narcissism fits too.

Future of driving a "classic" car
Instilling fear of "something" and instilling the belief that "someone (egotistical, charismatic leader) and an egotistical group (pick one) has the ONLY answer is the basis of mind control to gain and retain power. "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

@jalexquijano Are you going to replace the seal or have it done by someone else?

Don't buy this from Z Car Depot
Excellent. The hoses they sell are amazingly limber. I doubt their lines could or would ever cause a nozzle to bind.

Don't buy this from Z Car Depot
@SteveJI've only purchased them with the rebuild kits in the past. However, item ZT20, fuel line, $8.00 ea., must be the bowl to nozzle line. I can't think of any other fuel line on an SU. I'm sure it's possible to mold a hose to the right shape. The question in my mind is, will the nozzle bind when the shape of the bend changes during the operation of the choke?

Don't buy this from Z Car Depot
I wonder what Courtesy Nissan is asking for them. If it's considerably less, I'd take Courtesy's quote to the manager of that local dealership and tell them you'd rather support local businesses but their pricing policy makes that impossible.

Cars Wanted: Wanted: '76 280Z in 305 blue over black int
@MartinoThere's a 75 280Z on Bring a Trailer that looks close to what you're looking for. If you can live with a 75 and a sun roof.

Silicone was my guess. That's what they feel and look like. I'm confident that ZTherapy's hoses are compatible with today's gasoline.
-
Don't buy this from Z Car Depot
I've used the ZTherapy hoses. They're super floppy silicone (I think). They don't kink or bind up the nozzles during the choke operation.

They can sit in front of their Vanity mirror and ask "Who's the fairest of them all"? It's a wonder they never thought of driving a Furrari.

Trump and political comments, opinions, supported by fact or not
I'm a bit disappointed Biden didn't thank Trump for his part in the record voter turnout. He shouldn't have taken all the credit.

Just used one of those HF blasters with walnut shells to decarbonize the intake valves and ports on our son's VW turbo. It worked great.
