  1. Yes i know but if i go too rich i would then have a problem when the car is as idle as the plugs start the foul getting sooty black which causes the car to hesitate under traffic situations with a tendency to stall. I am using a cheap automatic transmission fluid for my su carbs. My problem is always at idle.
  2. With the new airtex 8012s pump the psi raised to 4psi and nl overflow. Response got better but at 2.70 turns clockwise at the fuel mixture knobs of both su roundtop carbs. I even took a picture of the plugs for your opinion. Am i still too lean?
  3. New pump and fuel hoses with clamps. Ill test the car today
  4. Well i am replacing mine with another airtex 8012s electric pump, as the actual one i just supplying 2.9 psi and my car is starving at idle. Whenever i go up a hill i need to open the choke. The pump was accidentally painted black when the car was restored last year. I am also considering to replace both 5/16 in and out of pump rubber hoses and clamps with new ones. Anyway, is it really recommendable to add and additional fram g3 fuel filter isnt the metal one that comes with the pump enough? I already have dorman glass fuel filter at the engine bay.
  5. My actual airtex 8012s electric fuel pump is barely 3 psi at the carbs. I found a stock spare one on my garage and would like to swap as i believe the metal filter could be clogged inside. During the process i would also like to replace the fuel lines that go in and out of the pump with new rubber hoses. I believe these lines are 5/16". Am i correct?
  6. Well this is the airtex 8012s electric fuel pump installed in my 72 240z next to the gas tank. Could the metal filter be clogged ans thus avoiding free flow to the carbs? The problem is clearly at idle. The guys at the paint shop accidentally painted the pump black while throwing paint to the suspension parts.
  7. I was recommended Castrol ATF oil. I also have 3 in 1 motor oil sre 20 engineered for 1/4 hp motors or larger. Which would you recommend? As i said my problem is at idle when launching from 1st gear. It needs quicker response.
  8. Picture of my plugs at 2.65 turns clockwise on both idle mixture knobs
  9. Okay speed up nice but at idle the rpm tend to fall from 1100 to 500. If i go up a hill from 1st gear position i need to pull the choke so the rpm does not fall. Could there be some clog in the line?
  10. I read that you need a mimimun of 3.4 psi. I have both of my su carbs set at 2.65 turns clockwise and the car is starving at idle. Did a test with a gauge near the cam and it did not reach to 3psi. Could my pump be defective? I have bought 3 of these lousy electric pumps and always finish ditching them for the same cause.
  11. I removed this inline intake manifold and place some brass nuts at the ends of bothe carbs. Does this have any effect on then performance of the car once started? I live on a tropical weather country were no heater is needed.
  12. im starting at 2.5 turns again with Brand new ngk bp6es plugs.
  13. How many horses have i gained with this MSA PREMIUM EXHAUST FOR STOCK MANIFOLD?
  14. i reached under the carbs. I have them dialed at 2.5 turns and will start making 1/8 increments but avoiding to reach to 3 turns clockwise. How many minutes should i leave the choke open once i crank the car?
  15. Yesterday i cranked my 240z and drove with the choke pulled for 5 minutes until i reached to normal temperature as otherwise the car misfires and stumbles. Once on the speedway i pushed the choke lever off and when accelerating the car started to pop or backfire at the intake. In order to avoid this i had to add some choke so i could reach back home. Is this a symptom proving that the Airtex 8012s electric fuel pump is failing? I had this problem 2 years ago, replaced the pump and never had this again. What is the mínimum PSI that i need in order to avoid this problem? Both of my carbs are set to 2.65 turns clockwise and have been balanced. https://www.amazon.com/Airtex-E8012S-Universal-Electric-Fuel/dp/B000DT7Y7A
  16. it only backfires on the exhaust when releasing the gas pedal on 1st and 2nd gear. If this exhaust is providing me 6hp more comparing with the stock exhaust, i think i can live with the popping on deceleration.
  17. Where are these wheels made? They look nice but i really prefer 15 x7. Streets in Panama are full of holes and cracks. I am looking for plug in type wheel that i dont require any mods to the stock brakes or drums.
  18. I just ordered this one! Just need to figure out how to wire it to the AC Compressor and make the holding bracket.
  19. My 1972 240z has the original stock disc brakes up front and drum in the rear. I went for a ride the other day and decided to brake and even though it did brake, the stop was not as firm as my Honda CRV 2012. Should i consider installing disc brakes at the rear also to get a precise and instant stop? If so which Brand and type? or to achieve this i will need to replace the 2 stock original disc brakes and calipers with a new set of brake pads and calipers for the 4 wheels? Which Brand and type? I am not going for a race but safety is a great concern for me!
  20. I aint got this problem anymore. Yellow light stays off when the lever is in!
  21. Veey nice wheels. My actual tires are 185 R14. Which wheels and tire size will have no impact on the speedometer reading and at the same time fit without rubbing?
  22. Well i thought there could be some opinión now that i have provided this last fact to the case in hand. Why didnt i had deceleration backfire when i reléased the gas pedal in 2nd and 3rd gear when the car had the MSA twice pipe system installed by PO: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic19i/15-6031 Now that i took it all away and installed the MSA PREMIUM EXHAUST kit for Stock manifold, i do experience backfire on deleceration: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic19j/15-6302 Is it due to: 1. The type of material of the pipes of the MSA Premium exhaust is aluminum. Twice pipe is Steel. 2. MSA Premium is 2.5 inches diameter all the way. Twice pipes features a 2 1/2" inlet that splits into twin pipes measuring a little under 1 3/4" (from the head pipe back) that terminate with two glass-pack mufflers and a pair of 2 1/2" diameter chrome tips. I don´t think that my Schneider 274F camshaft is the reason as PO had a Far 311 Race cam installed and it never popped under deceleration at any gear.
