  1. Just received my POR 15 floor and pan restoration kit. Paint shop is finally stripping all the floors and removing the ugly jute material under the carpet. Has anyone experience with this product? What are the steps to get the most out of it?
  2. I would really prefer a pump to can push steady 4 psi instead of adding a fuel pressure regulator to the engine bay. Does the Mallory 4070LP reaches 4 psi?
  3. Really nice! I guess this must be better than the stock Jute Material that came in the car originally. Does it also absorbe moisture as the Jute?
  4. George, Thanks. Just got a reply from your autorim and they have advised to purchase their Thermozite Heat Shield Carpet Padding!! maybe 5 to 6 yards for the full car.
  5. Thanks George. These sites are excellent. How many yards for the whole car? How many pieces?
  6. im looking for something that can Works absorbing moisture and as sound deadener: Im not paying US$400 for this set: http://www.zeddsaver.com/products/datsun-240z-interior-insulation-jute-kit Please can someone give me another option?
  7. is this called JUTE? Zeddsaver sells the complete kit for Us$400. Any other option than Dynamat?
  8. is this what goes on top of the Dynamat as sound barrier? What is the purpose of this carpet know as JUTE??
  9. Just went to the shop where my 1972 240z is being painted and found that beneath the carpet and over the floor pans there is some type of rotten carpet. Can anyone identify this type of carpet and if it consists of a road sound deadener? Isnt there a more modern approach of any other material to replace them after the floors are primed, protected with POR 15 and painted?
  10. Thanks for your Kind advice! What about the OEM paint color for the gas tank? WIll primer and semigloss black paint spray work or should i brush it with POR15?
  11. I am in the middle of my fuel tank restoration process and have several queries: 1. Which is the exact or most precise color to primer and paint the full tank? Just plain semi gloss black in spray or should i brush it with POR-15? 2. Do i really need to replace all the gas tank hoses? Having difficulty on getting all of them. Have sent e-mails to MSA but they only have one available. I also send an e -mail to my dear friend Mike at Banzaiworks, who has really helped me a lot sourcing parts but he has none of those hoses. Anyone?
  12. Not hijacking anything! Just trying to get a solution to the vapor lock issue at idle!!
  13. Take a look at this video and give me your thoughts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6wGuYBiRLw Car is right now at the paintshop! Already bought a Holley 1 to 4 psi regulator which i shall have installed once the car is painted. Is it still necessary to purchase the gas tank braided hoses?? Mine are the original once and look worn!
  14. I have an Airtex 8012S electric fuel pump rated 5 to 9 psi and still have vapor lock issues. Whenever my car sits on traffic for long time plugs get black and rear carb gets really hot. My father who is an industrial engineer and has quite some knowledge on mechanical engineering concurs with the opinión that its fuel percolation. Too much heat from the manifold to the float bowls. The stock heat shield on the 240z must be modified. Maybe using stainless Steel. Just too much heat in Panama: 33 degrees Celsius + Engine heat. Imagine???
  15. this is magic!! THis is exactly what my car has!! The same Vapor lock problem!! Where do i get a copy ot this manual? Does it still applies to a 1972 240z?
  16. Airtex 8012S measuring 5 psi at the rear carb! I moved the idle timing from 12 to 15BTDC. Do you think this can affect or damage the engine in someway? Trying to advance a Little bit to see if i get rid of the slight hesitation below 2000 RPMS.
  17. Why dont you take a look at this restoration where it is all KILIMANJARO WHITE 904, no black anywhere around: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwZ4hiyz2vg Do you really need to remove the whole engine and wiring to accomplish this? Just removing the engine is a lot of work!
  18. Is this exactly how it came from Factory, why most owners just paint it the same color as the car? In this sense, will a pint of PPG glossy black work? Do you have more pictures of your car? I would like to know exactly where should i use POR 15 and where not? In example the floors and trunk, etc?
  19. Im planning on painting my car 904 White. Should the engine bay be painted using glossy black as shown in your picture in those áreas or should it all be the same color of the car? I just want to be sure it came that way from the Factory. In which áreas should i use POR-15? the trunk and the floors only?
  20. Just looking for recommendations before delivering the car and taking the engine down!
  21. Okay! Just purchased all the materials and will be receiving a POR-15 floor pan and kit tomorrow as i got a contact who got it for me overseas: http://www.por15.com/FLOOR-PAN-TRUNK-KIT_p_61.html The car will be painted with PPG 904 Grand Prix White paint as it was originally done in January 1972. I have posted the following pics of the car in order to get some opinions on how should the paint job be carried out. Will the car need to be sanded fully down to bare metal with sand paper, paint remover and brush? When, where and how is the POR-15 applied? Furthermore, do you think it is necessary to also purchase some new door striker plates and bolts, rear hatch door stoppers, driver and passenger door latch alignment dovetails? Anyway of painting the engine bay without putting the engine down?
  22. Two questions: 1. WHere exactly is the best place to measure the fuel pressure at the car? On the fuel line that goes to the rear carb or between the fuel filter before the gas gets through the fuel rail? 2. Which of this two pumps can dial approximately between 3.5 to 4 psi and less noisy: Airtex 8012S http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/atx-e8012s/overview/ or Mallory 4070LP http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/maa-4070lp/overview/ For the airtex 8012s, i guess i will need a fuel pressure regulator. Not sure yet! Please let me know!! Dont like adding more stuff to the engine bay ie a Holley fuel pressure regulator. I think this is not needed.

  24. Thanks Stanley. How loud is the Mallory 4070LP?? Can it be set to 4 psi and hence no need of regulator?
