Do I really need to remove the turn signal switch to determine why does the right turn signal light activates when stepping on the brake pedal even though it is working properly on the rear lights and the front left turn signal light? I am scared it can break apart easily and the springs all fall down into pieces.

This is my Project car! a 1972 240z! I have noticed that the car seems to low on the rear suspensión and always bangs on Street bumps! Do I need to replace the whole shock absorber? or just the springs. If it were the springs which Brand is recommended? Is there a set that comes with shock absorbers that come with springs? 1970 1978 Datsun 240Z 260z 280z Springs | eBay

As per my previous post, last week i removed the following muffler which has 2" inlet and 2"outlet from my car due to its size and fitment besides the gas tank: Anyway, i swap this muffler for a smaller 14" long muffler with 1 3/4 inlet and outlet 1 3/4: When driving the car home i noticed the car had lost power and you could hear explosions under the car. I decided to park the car for a couple of days until i could take it to another shop where i found a Dynomax Super Turbo 2" inlet and 2" Outlet muffler. The car now gain strenght but according to my mechainic was running in 3 cylinders only with random explosion noise after shifting to 2nd gear. My question is Could driving the car in these conditions have damaged something in the engine, require new tuning of the carbs and new timing adjustment?

HAHAHA, I fixed it. It was the flasher. Due to the age it was worn. I bought a small universal one as the one shown here: Datsun 240Z 260z 280z 280ZX 1970 83 Emergency Flasher Light Switch New | eBay The only problem i noticed is that it gets hot very quickly when the switch is activated. Is this normal??

My right front turn signal light was not working a couple of weeks ago, whenever you move the turn signal switch to the right only the rear right turn signal lamp flashed. I decided to take the car to a shop where they fixed it and now it does flashes. However, yesterday when i parked the car in front of an establishment i noticed that stepping on the brake also activated the right front turn signal light. Is this normal?? I think only the rear lights should actÃvate whenever you step the brake pedal. How do i fix this problem?

Stock muffler for 240z with a Far 311 Race Cam
Johnny wick replied to Johnny wick's topic in Exhaust
Zed, Just took the pictures of the muffler the guys in the shop installed yesterday which measures 14 inches long and two inches in and out. Im really dissapointed at the fact that once having installed this shorter muffler my car has lost power and is not speeding properly, its holding up (choking) and producing some cracking noise as i try to speed up: Please look at the pictures carefully and advise if there is no posible way of fixing this issue unless i swap this muffler. By Reading the numbers labeled on the side of the muffler 17909, it seems this is what they sold me: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/wlk-17909/overview/ -

Will this Brand and Muffler be the solution? http://www.andysautosport.com/products/borla__400024.html or shall i settle for the following Dynomax 17733 model? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dynomax-Super-Turbo-Muffler-17733-Offset-2-5-IN-Center-2-5-Out-/351009474955?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51b9cb898b&vxp=mtr I really prefer a cylinder type muffler. -
Just came back from an exhaust shop here in Panama, Central America where you cannot get any parts for classic Zs. Due to the lack of mufflers for this type of race cars they had installed the following muffler which did work well on my 1972 240z that was modified with a Far 311 Race cam: The car was running okay but due to the size of this muffler the shop had to force it in the small available space besides the gas tank and everytime i passed through a Speed bump it got smacked. In view of this issue, i returned to the shop after months and they decided to install a muffler used on Toyota yaris, and other small sedans. It looked better as shown here: BIG MISTAKE, now i barely managed to get home as the car seems liked choked holding the speed and losing force. I have already spent US$340 with these "experierenced" shops down here and have lost money and time without getting the right solution. WHat i want is to get a muffler that will keep the car noise down so i can listen to my radio and at the same time does fit perfectly as the one it came with in 1972. THe former owner had a twice pipe installed and i had this system removed due to the huge noise it produced. WHat should i strive for? Magnaflow, Dynamax or Flowmaster? I will need the precise model and Brand.

I believe the housing is made of plastic, correct me if i am wrong! Should i just wash it and spray a can of matte or semi gloss black spray paint? Any advice? THey are functional. I just want to make sure they look pristine.

My Intermittent Hazard lights are not working properly. They do light up on the panel but flash very low on the front turn signals lights and tail lights. I have attached a picture of the flasher relay that came in my car and does not seem to be the original one. Maybe some can chime in with the solution. Please be advised all the rest of the lights are working in the panel and the rest of the car. This is the only problem and i want to fix it. When i actÃvate the hazard switch you can hear the flash sound but you cannot see them flash with the same intensity as they should.

Last night while attempting to remove the Water Temperature Sender from the Thermostat Housing on my 240z, i over tightened the sensor and broke the thread where it slides in. I believe this part can be replaced and i decided to purchase it at MotorSport Auto. Motorsport! Thermostat Housing, 70-72 240Z - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts Is this part of high quality and will last me or should i also purchase this one as NOS to guarantee an extended duration as this one? The temperature in my 240z is not Reading correct and i was thinking now that the car has 2 days of not been cranked to remove the temperature sending unit on my car, clean it with a brush and contact cleaner and reinstall it back again. Is there anything i should be aware? i.e. using a dialectric grease or pipe tape? any precautions i should take when removing and installing it back? I bought a new one on ebay and the mechanic says it does not fit. I thought these temp sending units were standard for 1970-1983 Zs? Please advise.

The surface of the fuel, oil pressure and clock gauges in my 240z have some scratch and i have decided to paint them before installing them on my car. Has anyone done this before? I believe the faces of these gauges are made of plastic. What will be the restoration procedure? Should i use sanding paper first and then use a can of flat black spray? What about the interior of the gauge will it help if i paint it in White color so when i install the leds it lights up much better?
