  1. THis is the picture. The one in the middle. I think its called as you said Fast Idle Control Device. Please bear in mind this car had never an AC installed on it before. Where can i purchase this part?
  2. Where can i purchase a Throttle opener control valve and servo diaphragm for a 240z? My servo diaphgram is not working and i have been advised it will be need it to have the air conditioner system working properly once installed. Been searching on the internet in several sites but have not found anything yet.
  3. My car has a 3 row racing radiator not the stock radiator as you can see in the picture. Can you make a short list of the additional parts i will need to purchase so i wont have to mess with the FAR 311 race cam? Which electric fan is recomendable and do i need to purchase also a fan shroud? I live in Panama City, Central America and there is a lot of traffic here where the temperature can rise to 34 degrees Celsius.
  4. My 240z has the following upgrades: New Datsun L24 motor with crank and rods from a L26, special oversized 84mm flat top black coated pistons from D.L. Potter Engineering with E88 Head and Far 311 New Race Cam with 2 original SU Hitachi round top carburetors which have been rebuilt. I want to install a GEN II mini evaporator and a Sanden 508 compressor to my car: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/vta-66005-vuz-a/overview/ However, before attempting this i have been advised by a Mechanical engineer who is now overlooking the car i must first swap to a Street cam preferable the original stock cam and components or else i will have overheating problems when i turn on the ac while in traffic or stops situations. I am also not fund of the irregular idle and would like the car to keep 900 to 1000 RPM at idle. We are still looking for the specifications of this FAR 311 Race cam and have not found them. Is it really necessary to change the cam to avoid overheating and stalling problems at idle? Any opinions on this issue.
  5. Where can i get the complete wiper linkage for a 1972 240z? Mine is very rusted and could damage the wiper motor.
  6. My 1972 240z was rebuilt with crank and rods from a L26, special oversized 84mm flat top black coated pistons from D.L. Potter Engineering with E88 Head and Far 311 New Race Cam. It also has the original Hitachi dual carburetors. The carbs have been rebuilt. I am looking for a camshaft and rockers for day to day use and not for performance or drag as the one it actually carries. Can someone point out what parts will i need to replace my cam including the rockers and other components and which of this 2 companies provide better hi quality parts: ISKY Racing Cams - Do It Right. Race with the Legend. Camshafts, Connecting Rods, Valve Springs, Lifters Schneider Racing Cams: Performance Proven Cams & Components.
  7. Been having rough idle issues on traffic jams and stop lights tending to lower my rpm under 800 rpm. My mechanic recommended to swap the Far 311 Race cam which i believe according to Schneider website has the following specs: 311F Datsun L-6 Camshaft I would like to point out also that the engine on the car was rebuilt with crank and rods from a L26, special oversized 84mm flat top black coated pistons from D.L. Potter Engineering with E88 Head and Far 311 New Race Cam. Some users say to stay away from MSA cams. WHat about ISKY cams? I really need a reliable advice so i can order the stock cam and rockers to get rid of the idle issues ASAP.
  8. Looking for the specifications of the FAR 311 RACE CAM? I need everything including the valve lash for intake and exhaust valve lobes, cold as well as all the rest of the specifications to i can tune the car precisely with the original Hitachi HJG-46W dual carburetors. Being searching on the internet and have not found anything about this Brand of camshaft.
  9. I have fixed and tested the clock in my 240z with a 9 volt battery and some alligator clips. Everything Works fine but i am still thinking on sending it to Ron for a quartz movement upgrade. How do i test and verify the ahmeter/ fuel gauge and the Temperature / oil gauge with a 9 volt battery after opening it and cleaning the inside? I just want to be sure before i install them in the car. Anyone???
  10. So if i swap them with leds i wont have a brighter look inside the gauges? can you point exactly which bulbs shall i puchase then? maybe on amazon or another reliable source? please specify model.
  11. I want to swap the original lightbulbs on my 240z with LEDS. Which model will be ideal to obtain the brightest result and definition? I want to keep the original stock look but with more brightness on all the gauges. Will this one work for all the gauges? 1972 Nissan 240z Instrument LED Lights | LED Replacement Bulbs for Cars | 12v | Super Bright LEDs | Super Bright LEDs Later on i would like to accomplish the same with the rest of the car lights.
  12. I have a couple of lights not working in my 1972 240z such as the following: -Right front turn signal light: it does flash and it does not show up on the dashboard when activating the turn signal switch in that direction. the right tail light does work and flashes. -Intermittent light is not working. - All the fuses are okay. -Emergency brake light is not lighting. It used to light a couple of weeks ago. I took the car to an electromechanic and he says he will need to take the dashboard down and take out the turn signal switch to clean it. I just want to be sure this is the problem before accomplishing all of these tasks or being charged for something that was not needed to be done. Please advise.
  13. How do i test the other 2 gauges besides from the mechanical clock of the car: Ampmeter / Fuel gauge and Temperature / oil level gauge? where do i connect the alligator clips? Just want to be sure i am buying stuff that Works on ebay and not being scammed by sellers who misrepresent these used parts.
  14. I recently bought one of those 1970-1973 labeled "JECCO" mechanical clock advertised as working condition from ebay. I tested it with some alligator clips attached to the blue and black terminals of the car´s battery and it did not worked. Due to this, i decided to open it and placed a couple of 3 in one motor oil as the ones used for sewing machines in all the bearings of the clock and when connected to the battery it still did not worked. Are these clocks so hard to get started? How do i test the other 2 gauges of the car: Ampmeter / Fuel gauge and Temperature / oil level gauge? where do i connect the alligator clips? Just want to be sure i am buying stuff that Works on ebay and not being scammed by sellers who misrepresent these parts.
  15. Finally i decided to clip both of the return springs attached between the front carburetor and chassis / rear carburetor and chassis. I believe they were already worn due to their age and use. Now the accelerator is not stuck. Where can i purchase this return springs online? Does Black Dragon carries them?
  16. What model of NGK spark plugs should i use if i haven an PerTronix Ignition Kit with new coil and electric fuel pump installed in my 1972 240z? Should i strive for NGK-R spark plugs?
  17. Mechanic solved the problem and now the car is back in commission even though he left the Choke cable slightly misadjusted as the yellow light is turning on. He said the problem was i was using standard NGK BP6ES spark plugs. My car has a Pertronix PerTronix Ignition Kit with new coil and i should use NGK-R spark plugs and not normal ones. The ones it had were all burned black. Is this correct?
  18. Why did the fuse blew?? Having replaced the fuse the car started once again!
  19. Recently found a reliable mechanic to tune my Hitachi twin SU Carbs. He managed to set the car to 1,100 RPM at idle due to the fact that i have a FAR 311 Race cam and the RPM needle will never keep steady. However after driving the car the following symptoms came out: 1. Car has power but is not running smooth it tends to choke when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear; 2. After 10 minutes of driving the RPM started lowering from 1,100 RPM to 500 RPM tending to stall; 3. Finally when arriving at the shop the electronic fuel pump fuse was blown and there was no fuel present at the fuel filter. 4. Replaced fuse and the car threw a flame from the exhaust when started. Now i am all confused. Is the problem the mechanics here in Panama, the Hitachi su carbs that i ordered from EBAY supposedly remanufactured, the electronic fuel pump or what? I was finally recommended to a mechanic that has a fine shop and has fixed Porsche with 2 carburetors. I will strive for that one even though i have to wait for 2 weeks so he can see my car as his shop is full. Any advice on how to solve these problems provisionally so i can take at least take the car to the other mechanic.
  20. Finally managed to adjust my twin Hitachi HJG 46W. I did the balance with the unisys synchronizer and the ball was in the bottom level in both carbs. If you accelerate the ball rises. So its fine. However after setting the idle speed to 1,000 RPM and driving the car a couple of blocks i noticed that the car mantained the RPM between 1,500 to 2,000 and did not lower to 1,000 on traffic lights or stops. The mechanic says that the problem is the carburetor springs and says i need to cut them. I dont share his opinión. THere must be something wrong in the tune up. Any advice?
  21. While installing a set of Hitachi carburetors on my engine i discovered this part had a small hole and needs attention. What is the part number and where can i order it?
  22. the wiper motor and jets are not working on my 240z. Initially when i purchased my 240z the wipers arms moved slow not fast as the ones in my honda crv. The jets are not spraying wáter. Should i consider replacing the entire motor and wáter pump or could i take this to an electromechanic and have it fixed? I really want a steady and reliable windshield wiper system.
  23. Just received and installed both twin Hitachi HJG46W on my 1972 Datsun 240z. Due to the fact that my car has a FAR 311 Race Cam the mechanic set the idle speed to 1,000 to 1,100 RPM. After installation the car seems to loose power when shifting from 1st to second gear. Do i need to adjust the idle adjust nut in the bottom of both carburetors? how many turns?
  24. What about using 3 in one multipurpose oil? Will it work? I dont seem to find 3 in one motor oil here in Panama. Just this one: 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil | Household Oil | Lubricate Bikes, Guns & More
