  1. Well since i have some spare time i decided to take a look at my float levels and after removing the air filter noticed a weird stain on the front carburetor. I stilñ have not opened the chamber. Rear one looks ok with no stain.
  2. I have this spare one which i bought a couple of years ago and i may practice with it. I bought it used from someone who had it serviced but it never worked. So i reinstall the current one in my car. I paid 90usd for it.
  3. I know this thread is old but was wondering if now that we have this long coronavirus outbreak it is time to remove the stock single point distributor of my 240z and clean it throughly. Is it very complicated?
  4. Whats the maintenance procedure? Contact cleaner and cleaning corroded terminals on solenoid and starter?
  5. since we are all stuck with the Coronavirus i have spare time to remove the two bolts and pull out the complete starter and solenoid. Is it safe to pull it from the Hood or should i lift the car with the Jack and remove it from underneath the car? i want to inspect it and clean it throughly. Any recommedations on this?
  6. Nice but i guess a shorter banjo would allow an acrylic tube or sightglass displaying the fuel level properly.
  7. I guess this guy in the video is getting it right: using a 9/16 wooden stick and blowing until the tab starts closing the tip of the needle valve. I guess that once that is set you can move over and use the float synch.
  8. I guess these will work: Are the drain plugs measurement M8 X 1? Fine thread?
  9. You will keep waiting. Bruce Palmer sold me a couple of tubes with fittings a couple of years ago. I would try and see if i can manage with those.
  10. Thats correct. I guess no one is longer interested in building these float syncs.
  11. What else shall i check? The 3 click shows up randomly.
  12. Battery voltage before crack and after crank at idle
  13. 3 click issue showed up again and now when the engine was fully warmed. Solenoid replacement? Any good brand?
  14. Both of the horns, low and high tone, in my 72 240z sound fine but provided the engine is running at idle. If the engine is shut the sound is very thin and barely noticeable. What could be the cause for this? Worn relay?
  15. It still overheats in heavy traffic conditions. I read that this L Series engine with carbs suffer from this and that at idle plugs get sooty. Apparently the only remedy is to install electric pusher fans. But which one would you recommend?
  16. thanks! Just some cleaning with brass brush and battery terminal wire and everything was solved.
  17. I also noticed that the tone of the horn is low when the car engine is shut
  18. Thanks Pat. How can i double check this to be sure its not another part.
  19. I am noticing that everytime i try to crank the engine on my 72 240z when is cold i hear 2 to 3 clicks. I do open the choke to 3/4 but somehow i can still listen to those clicks failing to crank the engine. Battery was bought 6 months ago but i normally crank the car once a week every sunday. Starter may be failing? Once the engine cranks and i shut it when i crank again there is no more clicks as it starts up right away. Where do i check? I didnt had these problem before.
  20. Ill have to remove the wheel again and get under the car to take more pictures. My dad advised me never to get under a car alone. If the car jack and support fails im dead and nobody will be there to help me out.
