  1. Ok but we need to get to the root of the problem. Its cheaper opening the block and verifying instead of spending 3k in a new rebuilt engine plus shipping to Panama.
  2. Thanks. In such a case if it does not foul the plug we could assume something is bad inside that cylinder? We know its not the seals as they were already replaced.
  3. Site and Mark, I set both jets at 3.25 turns clockwise and as a result only cyl 4 came out black and sooty after driving the car and temporary idling on red lights. Should i consider uaing a non fouler on cyl 4?
  4. Test drive around the corner cylinder 6 5 and 4, 3.25 turns clockwise in each carb. No traffic jam test yet and without the air filter on.
  5. Should i test the car again and then use the color tune to fine tune the fuel jets?
  6. For the sake of order. I closed the jets and dialed them back to 3 turns clockwise each looking from above meaning the jet goes down. I have taken pics the fuel jet closed and opened to 3 turns each. Carbs balanced and rpm at 900. Should i go for a spin just as it is or should i put the air filter on?
  7. What about using it with the current resistor and 1.5 coil?
  8. Mine has a white plastic fan and shroud. Fan clutch was replaced in 2015. I only use this car on sundays for close drives.

  10. Lets see if i can explain this better. Step by step: 1. Crank the engine with the choke pulled. 2. Let the choke on for 1 to 2 mins. 3. Drive for 20 mins 4. Suddenly get trapped in traffic jam and temperature needle raises to 3/4 5. Rpm needle starts to go up and down between 900 to 1000 rpm 6. Once traffic is clearing i accelerate and engine starts misfiring with hesitation simulating coughing. This is the best written explanation i can give.
  11. If a new single point distributor will solve this fouling will this one fit and work with my 1972 240z manual transmission?
  12. Ive already changed the distributor cap and rotor several times. May i should test the car now that i have released the tightness on the upper screws of both choke cables and report.
  13. Recommend me a good coil, a good distributor, etc. Ill have to save for such investment. We are chasing this problem in circles.
  14. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000N2ZFU0/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A2L97JA8DAGJXC&psc=1 Would you recommend buying a new 1.5 coil and another module? Price have gone high nowadays. I really dont want to buy unnecesary parts. My problem is mainly fouling at idle.
  15. What would be your approach? Whats wrong with 1761 pertronix module and 1.5 coil? .
  16. When the car is idling during traffic jam the rpm needle starts to move a little bit up and down until you accelerate and get out of traffic. Im using ngk bpes5 plugs.
  17. Thanks. Lets wait for other members opinion before i reinstall the air filter and new spark plugs. My problem arises only when car is at idle during traffic. Anyway i have no problem on carrying the test again. Maybe a bigger spark during idle can avoid the plugs from fouling.
  18. The thing here is that i have checked both fuel nozzles and with the choke lever closed both nozzles are shut. If i start moving the lever back the fuel nozzles begin lowering when it reaches 3/4 of the lever and fully open reaches 1400 rpm. Why should i start messing with the cable?
  19. Ok. thanks! Ill follow your advice. Ill get this sorted with a partner. She will pull the choke and i will place my hands in both fuel nozzles.
  20. I guess i will need to recap this thread where i might have the solution! 1400 rpms with choke lever fully pulled.
  21. The thing here is that you have to pull the choke lever to 3/4 from starting position for the fuel nozzles to begin lowering. When choke lever is maxed it reaches to 1300 rpm. There must be a way of setting this easier.
