  1. I really want to move forward with the solution to this issue before i send the car to the paint shop and buy some konig rewind wheels.
  2. I just noticed 3 and 4 and the car was left running with the Hood open in straight sunlight for only 10 to 15 mins. We already replaced cap and rotor, check cylinder compression. What else now?
  3. Mark, I already did the cylinder compression test and as shown the results were fine. The distributor is set to 14 degrees btdc. What else should i check. Maybe the black fouling on spark plug 4 and 4 is attributable to the camshaft as its not the stock camshaft but a Schneider 274f. Where else shall i check?
  4. Ill try that but these cables are not that old. I thought this misfire problem was over. Maybe with the schneider 274f cam the car idle speed will need to be set at 1200 rpm
  5. Today's update: Drove my car on light sunday traffic. Parked and let the engine run at idle for 10 mins with the hood opened. Step on the car and started accelerating. Car misfired a couple of times so when i got home i pulled plugs 3 and 4 and found them black. Is this normal? This is what happens when the car is sitting on traffic at idle.
  6. Thanks to all you guys i made my task possible. I removed the old gasket, cleaned the surface with a knife and wd40 and sanded the surfaces with sand paper. After all this was done i installed the new gasket and reinstall the distributor.
  7. Do you think its worth following all the steps he did in the video such as cleaning and polishing the base with a dremmel?
  8. Im gonna take the risk and pull that distributor out just to verify the state of the gasket seals and o ring. I hope the car engine cranks when i insert it back.
  9. I found this video on YouTube but it refers to removing a distributor on a 280z. I guess it should be the same procedure. Now i will need to buy a rubber hammer and some high temperature silicone so the gasket binds perfectly to the metal.
  10. This means the distributor can be pulled out just by removing the 8mm bolt you have circled and the engine will only crank if i install the distributor i the exact position as it is marked?
  11. Thanks Patcon. These are the seals i want to replace. What would be your approach?
  12. I dont know what you are talking about regarding the bolts that fasten the distributor. Already found the gaskets. Pleasr advice which bolts shall i remove to inspect the distributor and in which position shall it be installed so the car engine cranks again.
  13. Thanks. By the way my distributor is locked down in two points and does not move.
  14. Can you point out which screw must i remove only on order to avoid screwing up the timing and as consequence able to crank the engine once installed.
  15. Just took some pics of the original hitachi single point distributor before i attempt any removal, inspection of gasket and reinstallation. Dont notice any oil leaks but would like to be sure it has the o ring and base gasket in place. Please guide me on the removal and reinstallation process. Last time i did this the engine did not start.
  16. There is a guy on youtube that has a video on installing a reconditioned distributor on a 280z. However, he says that the distributor can only be installed in one way. I want to replace the o ring and the base gasket and wouldnt like to hassle with a wrong installation again.
  17. How do i assure it is in the exact time before cracking the engine? Last time i removed it i couldnt crank the engine but after several attempts i could only hear an explosion so i had to call the mechanic.
  18. The other day i found some spare gaskets and ring that are supposed to be installed before the distributor is inserted in the key shaft. However, i remember that last time i did that i had to call a mechanic because when i installed the distributor back the engine did not crank. https://zcardepot.com/distributor-installation-kit-gasket-hardware-240z-260z-280z.html Is this so complicated? I thought it was a simple plug and play procedure?
  19. Okay i guess i will need to the following seals before i take the car again to the paint shop for fixing some details on previous paint shop: Datsun 240Z - Door Seal LH Drivers (Fits on body) P/N LH 76801-E4100 $57.95 Rear hatch hinge seal P/N 90410-E4101 Fender to body inner rubber seal LH AND RH set and clips Inner Hatch Weather Strip Anyways i will take some pictures of the damaged weatherstrip due to sloppy installation after painting the car.
  20. Well ill just purchase the diff mount and the backup reverse light switch.
