I have purchased the following parts in Summit racing and would like to know what parts of the heater control panel will be compatible with them: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/vta-49110-shq/overview/ http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/vta-11458-vus/overview/ I will be really pleased if you can guide me step by step on the adaptation to the panel. I would not like to damaged the plastic panel of the car.

Any opinions on what body parts will be required to restore this 1972 240z: http://www.insightautomotive.com/web/used/Datsun-240Z-1972-Longmont-Colorado/9233322/ Of what i can see i think it needs a complete floor pan and rail kit. Anything else? WHere can i purchase these metal parts?

My datsun 1972 240z did not brought the Tail light Panels that go under the tail lights. I already got the center panel and will purchase the left and right soon, however in order to install them i need to fasten them with some plastic rivets. I read that the parts number are the following: RIVET-PLASTIC 79909-E4100 2 questions: -Where can i purchase these plastic rivets? -How many will i need?

Trying to score or purchase one left and one right exterior tail light trim panels as the ones showed below: Datsun 240Z Tail light panel - Manitoba Auto Body Parts For Sale - Kijiji Manitoba Canada. Ive seen some on ebay that do not have the chrome trim around the hole. Is this how they should be? Will I also need to purchase some rivets to install them? If so which part number is this?

Do you know which part is the rotary fan switch?? i believe the 4 lever control panel is the following: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/vta-49110-shq/overview/ Please indicate clearly. I guess you are getting my picture clear. -
Julio, Thanks for all your great help and guidance on setting up the AC Conditioner on my 1972 Datsun 240z. Please be advised that based to the fact that i can get a Sander 508 rotary compressor at US$120 and some other parts in Panama, Central America which is where i will have the car in a couple of weeks, i have limited my purchase to the following parts: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/vta-66005-vuz-a/overview/ http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/vta-49110-shq/overview/ Do you really think it is necessary to purchase a Condenser and Drier selled by this company as part of the Vintage Air Gen II mini kit? Or i can use universal parts that i can get here in Panama to really cool the 240z?

I just contacted Dreamers Rods & Pickups N.W. - The Source for Chevy and Ford Restoration and Performance Parts. which is a company that carries this evaporator and they have asked me the following questions: What finish compressor would i like? V-belt or serpentine? Billet aluminium control or just an ABS plastic pod? Rubber A7C lines or stainless braided and plastic vents or billet? WHy all these questions? Isnt there a company that sells a straight forward kit? So much hassle to purchase this kit online?

Okay, i´m about to make the decision on purchasing the Vintage Air Gen II Mini or the Compac kit for my 1972 Datsun 240z. The weather down here is 31 degrees Celsius with 62% of humidity. The kit i choose must bring a powerfull compressor, low noise and cool the cabin sufficiently. Beside of the above it must fit the dash with minor modifications and its controls can be modify to be used with the original Heater Panel Control indash. catalog Index - www.vintageair.com Any opinions?
-
Thanks for your great advice and support. There are 3 different models: Vintage Air Gen II Super, Mini and Compac. WHich of these 3 models should i purchase: http://www.vintageair.com/flipbook/ For your ready reference you may find them in page 45 and 46 of the catalogue. My car is a 1972 240z, manual 5 speed transmission, 2.4 L just as yours. I have seen other kits in the internet but just want to be sure i choose the correct model that i can adapt to the heater control panel just as you did. It is important that the ac kit really cools the vehicle, does not take much horsepower away from the engine and its components do not fall down the passengers glove box. Awaiting for your reply. The temperature in Panama is 31 degrees Celsius with 62 per cent of humidity. Greetings, Jorge

Just Perfect. The same thing i want to do. Which kit did you bought? Does it really cool the car and does not leave any component hanging under the glove box? Temperature is really an issue so i need something that also blows really cold. Also please send me a list of the parts i will need to purchase to complete this task mantaining the stock look of the panel as close as possible.

Which of the Air Conditioning Kits and indash controls will fit and cool the best for this car? They offer the GEN II MINI and some other models. I would not like to see anything hanging down the passenger´s floor. Such as the following kit advertised on EBAY: Datsun 240Z 260z 280z Complete AC System | eBay I trust on your advice and await for your response before ordering the kit.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I was really considering on using the stock controls that came in the heater panel of the car. But due to your advise i will have to settle with the following options to choose from and rely and your final advice on the most efficient kit for this car: Motorsport! Complete A/C Kit, 70-73 240Z R-134A - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts 1970-1973 240Z A/C (R134 freon) :: Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com Vintage Air - Inventors of Performance Air Conditioning - www.vintageair.com (http://www.vintageair.com/flipbook/) I want a powerfull full cooling unit and slide controls i can adapt indash. I dont want to use underdash controls. Awaiting for your response.

Wires Behind Heater Center Control Panel? 1972 240z
Johnny wick replied to moritz55's topic in Help Me !!
Can you use the controls in the heater panel to opérate an air conditioning kit? I just a bought a 1972 Datsun 240z that has no air conditioner and want to confirm if i purchase a kit i will be able to use the heater control instead of the control the aftermarket kit brings. I am considering this kit but they have informed me that the kit only Works with their control: Datsun 240Z 260z 280z Complete AC System | eBay -
Controls for "factory" air conditioning on my '72 Z.
Johnny wick replied to Coastalman's topic in Heat & AC
I own a 1972 Datsun 240z that has never had an AC system installed. i really need to know where to buy a kit that will fit perfectly in my 1972 Datsun 240Z with no components hanging down underneath the passengers glove box? Will i be able to opérate it using the original indash ac control knobs actually present in the car? Does this kit include all the parts i need such as the lines, the control unit, the harness, the compressor aluminium bracket, the drain hose, the low pressure switch, expansion valve, vacuum tank and vacuum hoses, etc... The main purpose is to be able to use the indash controls as per your case. -
Recently bought a 1972 Datsun 240z that has never had an AC system installed. i really need to know if the there is any kit that will fit perfectly in this car with no components hanging down underneath the passengers glove box? Will i be able to opérate it using the original indash ac control knobs actually present in the car? The kit i want should be controlled by the original indash panel controls and not by an additional set of controls as i dont want to modify anything in the car. Any good advice?
