    ok this is my first car and i dont know alot about all the names of parts etc....... but ill give it a go..... i have the twin SU roundtops in an E88 head (stock) that goes into the genie extractors....then to a 2 1/2 inch pipe for about 1-2 feet then into a hotdog and out in a 2inch pipe then at the rear end of the line it goes into a flare back upto 2 1/2 then into my dump pipe (turbo type muffler big chrome one ) i dont consider this an ideal setup but its still pretty loud :classic: i would like to one day change it to 2 1/2 all the way through for a bit more of a rumble, but what it has no seems to be doing ok, every time i drive down a street people look up and yell at me to bag it up (heh heh gotta love that) take care yall, mellow

    yes from what i have heard you can put the same size engine or smaller in without all the trouble with compliance but if you put a bigger engine in i think you have to get your complience redone & your braking system upgraded, thats just form what i have heard tho not experience...... ps, can someone please tell me which carbys to use as i want to put them on soon.     Hey agian... @ Gav... yes both engines are L26's..... @sammy..... a L28ET wouldnt be bad.... dont you need to upgrade brakes & get your car complienced to put a bigger engine in it???     Cheers for the replys Gav & sammy. @ Gav - the engines i currently have are....both are #P30's which would make them L26 engines?!?! Im reading the links you posted up now, thanks alot for that! @ sammy, your from Adelaide, well im not in desperate need of parts now.... but once i have this new engine in my car i will be rebuilding the old one... or atleast attempting, i have a rolling shell (rusty bucket, ) that i can have the engine in while im doing it up but i will be needing a new water pump and radiator.... the radiator doenst need to be really good but it just needs to work so i can muck around with the engine.... i also need other bits which are uncommon, like a turbo kit, ram pods or high air flow pipes a nitrous kit wouldnt be bad either... i understand how uncommon these things are just thought it may be worth a go..... i also have pics of both sets of my carbys they are pending im not sure how long that takes but ill post them up when there done... thanks, mellow

    hey sammy, cheers for the reply... i actually found where i should have posted my carby question, sorry everyone i just saw the engine board & assumed i should post in here.... sorry again. are those the dome top carbs in that pic there??? one sets like that and the other set well is huge & chunky looking. so your saying the smaller round tops are better, i hope so there not so ugly, . as for the engine mods for extra horse, i already have a set of genie extractors for it.... what sort of head work are you talking about, i was thinking of getting a head boared out, since i have 2 spare anyways... also i have a question on the water cooled manifolds... when i got both my engines the water cooling was disconnected, any ideas why this is??? thanks again, mellow:classic:

    mate.... im not experienced much atall but this is a prob i had, your idiling at around 2000 rpm, and it backfires.... if it backfires when you turn idle down or when you gun it taking off id be checking your compression.... i blew my 5th cylender and that was making the back carb backfire and leaving black residue inside the air filter... Not saying this is the prob you have but just an idea..... mellow

    Hey all Z-lovers! i have a '76 260z 2+2, ive been doing it up a bit.... (my first car) I just bought another spare car for parts also, im going to change the motors, question is i have a set of flat top SU carbys (huge things) and a set of round tops. Which set is better & why, what are the better charicteristics of both sorts??? Also what pretty simple cheap things can i do to boost a few horses? Any ideas what a turbo kit would be worth.     wow thanks everyone for the replys!!!! well to do with all this carby talk, i have SU carbs. i have started to do up the body a fair bit taken out most of the rust. And aslo the parts im looking at are a LSD diff, a few badges, one of those struts and a few interior bits & peices. i think thats it...... if you have any questions or anything either post them here or email me at mellowoutandplaysomehackey@hotmail or at yahoo. thanks, mellow

    Hey all im a young bloke (16) and just got myself a 76 260Z 2+2 that me and my old man are doing up togethor (we both love the 240's + 260's) mainly i want to ask if anyone has the statastics on this car eg horsepower, top speeds its auto though i was lokking for a manual but ill get over it and also would like to know where all of you other 260z fans are from im in south australia and would like to know if any other SA fellas could tell me where to get parts or any 260 clubs i could join??? thanks all, mellow p.s. im trying to attach a pic but im not sure if it will work for this is my first time using this site.
