hey all, im looking to make some strut braces for my 82 280ZX, it would be a great help if sumone knows the measurements or has plans on them..... i am looking for plans/measurements for both the front & rear strut braces, and help atall would be muchly appreciated thanks again, mellow :pirate:

Hey Ladies & Gentlemen, i have yet another problem with the 280, the battery seems to keep going flat, sometimes this happens when im driving & i just loose all power and the needles on the speedo & taco just drop, the car still has enough power to play the sterio & the lights & all still work but it does not have enough power to turn over the engine..... also when i drive it most of the dash lights come on & stay on untilll i turn the car off again.... from memory its, CHG, Fuel, Brakes & Doors the logical guess would be the alternator but would this cause all these lights to come on???? this is my every day driver & i have had no problems whatso ever like this one..... thanks, Mellow:dead:

Hey Lads, well i was only going to put bigger injectors in if it was going to give a litte more power.... im not looking for big power as in a turbo or anything (possibly a supercharger when im rich) but a little more poke is all im after... so really i was just curious weather it would give the engine more grunt and weather i would have to modify the ECU.... but thanks fellas you answered my questions.... mellow:dead:

hey all, after much consideration ive decided to wreck & see one of my old rusty 260z's first bit to go is the carbys.... they arre round tops (Brittish SU company 3 screw) i have no real idea on condition of these carbys & at a rough guess would say they will have to be rebuilt, they are on the N36 manifolds (or if wanted carbs can be sold seperately) i have no idea what these are worth but im willing to take offers, i can post within australia (wouldnt be cheap at a rough guess though) i also have many other 260z 2+2 parts to get rid of...... if yourt interested post up here or send us an email to... mellowoutandplaysomehackey@hotamil.com but plese put 'datsun carbys' in the subject box as so i wont mistake it for spam & delete it, thanks... also a few pics of the carbs in my gallery mellow:dead:

Hey all, i am looking for interior parts to suit a 82' 280ZX, the interior is red..... i need: a crashpad with no cracks a driver side seatbelt surround (behind head) little plastic pannel above the ashtray a coin holder (is that what goes there?, below the auto shifter) plese let me know if you have these bits or if you have a 280 in wrecking with a red interior.... thanks, mellow:dead:

if you need an anchor for your boat, id go with the flat tops, but for your Z the round tops are definately the way to go about it.... I triedboth on my 260z and the round tops gave a hell of a lot more in performance veiws.... mellow:dead:

Hey 280ZX fever, well the block is an F54, the head is an N42 and it has the BOSCH multi point injection...... as for the pistons, im not actually sure, i will try to find out asap though.... This motor is in good condition as i have just fully rebuit it, that is why id rather work this engine than buying a turbo one.... It has the standard 3 speed auto and it still has the standard diff..... thanks once again, cris:dead:

Hey ZmeFly, well that all sounds goo apart from i just spent 2 large rebuiling this engine & now im having troubles finding anything fun to do with it.... is it worth while modifying this engine to take a turbo, or pretty much not worth the bother?!?! Zeiss150, cheers for the info on the cam, ive been looking into cams alot lately so it helps to know what is a decent grind... & as ive already stated i have just rebuilt this engine (about 1500km ago now) and i was thinking of doing the bore next.... as for the new ignition system, what do i look for? any brands in particular you can reccomend? the headers i agree with they are a definate!!! i am trying to pick up a new set now, i want to run 6-2-1's into 2 1/2 piping with a decent hotdog type muffler and a nice big stainless steel dump pipe (already have) my whole car has been a pretty slow process so far & i really want to get some mod's happening soon...... what amount of horsepower gain would i be ablet o get by putting bigger injectors in it???? mabie i will have to stick with the turbo & a 150 hp shot of nitrous... thanks once again, cris:dead:

Hey Matt, thanks heaps for the reply mate, much appreciated..... yes we do have wrecking yards here in oz, but i already have the N42 head on it.... so next mabie i should be thinking a cam & a bore job? after putting in a new cam, will i have to get a new chip or anything for the ECU? i think our headers cost a little more over here but are still pretty readily avalibe...... thanks alot, mellow:dead:

billramsey, hahaha i wish i had the money to do that mate.... 1975yellowBSPZ, yes a turbo engine would be probobly the simplest & probobly one of the cheaper options too but as i am still on my P plates i cannot register a turbo under my own name... plus turbos are getting more comoon these days, i would like to have something a little different..... thanks for the input tho, i do appreciate it.... mellow :dead:

Hey Z heads, im thinking about changing my 3 speed auto trans in my 82' 280ZX to a 4 speed auto, is this simple to do? what thans am i best of getting & around how much will it cost? any modifications that will have to be made, or any other info would help greatly...... also will my genie 6-2-1 headers off my 260z 2+2 fit my 280ZX (L28 E, N42 head)? thanks a load, mellow:dead:

Hey hey, hls30.com - i have not yet got any creaks or rattles in the interior, but i am still having my few little problems with the sound system, soon i will have it perfected :classic: I would like to get a strut brace one day but the only ones ive seen are $135 and i have other prioritys to get done first, as im only 17 and have to drive 90km a day for my job there is not much money left over, but it is all hapening slowly.... aRCH-Z - well its certainly a different look you have going there.... the old Z's sound nice with the bass in the back tho hey :cheeky: quite a smooth looking setup there..... cheers fellas, have a good one Mellow :dead:

Hey all, well this is not what id call a custom interior, but its a start.... i have put a speaker wall up inbetween the shocker covers in the back of the coupe, then i made up another cover for the top.... inbetween the shocker covers we have 2x 6x9's and a 8" subwoofer in the middle and in the top i have put a 12" subwoofer (soon to be replaced by a 15", that is when i have some spare cash, ) this design works well for sound quality but is not the best as it is not fully air tight at the moment, but that is all to be fixed soon also..... not much but its a start..... mellow:dead:

also, the cheaper the horse power the better..... id like to keep it under $4000 for now..... so if you know any approximate prices please inclue them, thanks again zedheads, mellow:dead:

Hey Z heads, well im after a few extra horse power under the hood of my 280ZX, its an L28 E running totally standard at the moment.... i was thinking possibly a multi throttle body or possibly a supercharger, any thoughts or ideas, please post them up..... also i plan to put a cam in it & bore it, any thoughts, comments??? cheers once again, mellow:dead:
