Engine Ready
Marty did you do anything special to clean the engine block faces before you painted it? I'm concerned about poor paint adhesion on mine as the block is very dirty and oily thanks for any reply

Is it that bad? Hard to tell from the picture. Mine had a lot of surface rust under the battery tray but it was all solid.

240z/260z Tail Light Swap?
Sulio I've seen the conversion done the other way ( ie putting 260z lights into a 240z) but that was done to avoid the excessive cost of buying replacement 240z rear lights. Do you have some 240z lights already lined up? Could be an expensive conversion. Hope it helps Andrew

Where can I find these wheels
Isn't that an Ansa muffler? I have one that looks like that that came on my car. Similar ones come up on ebay occasionally. Don't know whether you can still get them from MSA etc. Hope it helps Andrew

Thank god it wasn't my Z!
Mark Glad that everyone is OK. I take it you won't let him drive your 69 car until he is about 40 years old.:classic: My eldest son is at the age where everything he touches he somehow manages to break so I keep him well away from my z.

1971 Hub Caps
Just a note to point out that those dcaps are the genuine early ones, that have a smaller number of hooks round the edge to keep them on. (They are the ones that fall off if you corner too spiritedly:classic: ) I don't know when the later ones (with more hooks) came in exactly. My set of dcaps is 2 early ones and 2 later ones that I paid significantly more than $149 for:cry: )

painted engine bay
It only looks good from 3 feet away. Close up not so good. But most of the problem bits will not be seen once the engine and ancillaries are in.

How much rust is Too Much
Bad news is top of the rear quarter is a swine to repair as I don't believe repair patches are made by anyone. Good news is a lot of z's in scrapyard should have this section intact as it isn't normally a bad rust spot. What happened to your rear bumper!!!. Did you try and give a 30 ton truck a tow start!!!!:classic:

Heater hoses differences RHD vs LHD
240znz You need to look into the servo pushrods length as well. I'm no expert, but the pushrod on my 72 car is much longer than the one on my 1970 car. I'm sure it has been discussed here previously so if you search the site you will find something about servos and pushrod lengths. hope it helps

Heater hoses differences RHD vs LHD
240znz They are the same. Although the heater box is different RHD vs LHD the heater core is the same and the outlets in the bulkhead are in the same place regards Andrew

Glove box replacement?
I have produced some paper templates for the glove box sections which I will send to MikeW on Monday. It is far easier to do this than to try and post the measurements here. He should have them in a week or 10 days. Andrew

Braided cloth radiator hose
I would guess something so hard to replace will only be on the car at shows and stuff, to be replaced with a normal rubber one for 350 days a year.

Pic of my z, other car and house.
Yeah that really is a nice looking z:love:

Braided cloth radiator hose
You only missed by 3 seconds and $3 though. That was the closest bit of outbidding at the auction end I have seen in a while. When it was $34 with 25 seconds to go I almost thought about bidding if it was going to go that cheap!!!!

1970 clutch master cylinder on ebay
Mark As far as I know the earlier 240z's had a clutch master cylinder where the reservoir was at the very front of the cylinder. Later 240z's and possibly 260/280 (I'm not sure about these) had a longer master cylinder and a reservoir further back towards the bulkhead. I have only ever seen one of the genuine early style master cylinders for sale prior to the one I have flagged up, and that was a secondhand one from Bob Zola that went on a buy it now soon after it was listed. This is all the information I have. I'd be glad to hear from anyone who can confirm or correct me. regards Andrew

1970 clutch master cylinder on ebay
For the purists out there, I have just bought one of these off ebay and it is identical to the original clutch MC from my 1970 car (apart from the cap and it isn't made by NABCO) I didn't think you could get these anywhere anymore. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33730&item=2480951061 Andrew

Glove box replacement?
It's from my LHD car. But I think ( without having checked so I could be wrong) that the LHD and RHD ones are the same. I'll dig the glovebox out of my storage in the next day or so and get the measurements. regards Andrew
