I also bought the to intense vinyl covers and would concur with MikeW, in that they are close but not exact. Quality seems good though. I have seen pictures that show that classic datsun motorsports cover are much closer if not indistinguishable from original. There is a similar earlier thread that shows some pictures of the clasic datsun covers. hope it helps Andrew
  3. EricB I agree with your maths I use a formula for mph per 1000 rpm as 60000 ------------------------------- (diff ratio)x(wheel rpms per mile) for a 1:1 top gear ratio so for 0.745 you divide by 0.745 regards Andrew

Thick as pigsh*t Going back a few posts: 'You are so ugly that when you were born the doctor turned you over said 'we have twins' '
  5. Not all Europeans . Some of us are trying very hard to stay out of the nightmare of the EU. The scale of waste, fraud and bureaucracy is at least on par with the US. I applaud your dream Carl. Someone (American) said to me recently that the US was now a one party state, with the presidential election there to give the illusion of choice. Quite well put I think (and I don't think things are any better where I live) Andrew
  6. Good post!!!
  7. Interesting thought!!! I wouldn't call it a mistake, ( more a failure) as he tried to invade the UK and soon realised that he couldn't. (and I am not suggesting that the British forces were so much better than any one else; we had the English Channel between us and continental Europe for a start) Got any numbers to back this up? Sure there were a lot of Polish, Aussie,NZ and other pilots who had escaped to the UK, but I would seriously doubt that they outnumbered the Brits as the Battle of Britain was a very short battle which left very little to time to train pilots let alone getting replacement pilots from abroad. That is however my gut feeling and I am more than happy to be proved wrong by some numbers Yep! Ironic we are talking (amongst other things) about being at war with Japan on a website dedicated to our appreciation of a japanese car. In a perverse kind of way I thank the US for dropping atomic bombs on Japan, as if they hadn't, my father would have died in a POW camp on the Burma Railway. However given the suffering that the atomic bombs caused that is not something I am particularly proud of. Andrew
  8. FOR THE RECORD ONLY (I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE FOLLOWING AND I AM NOT INCITING ANY INDIGNANT RESPONSES) usually any American uttering such a phrase in the UK is met with the equally untrue and inflammatory reply, ‘The US joined the war after the real fighting finished.’ or ‘The US sent men and hardware but left their balls at home’ FWIW Hitler abandoned plans to invade the UK almost 1 year before the US joined the war (after the Battle of Britain in 1940). The above statement might be true in France though ( sorry France!!!!) please take this post with good humour in the way it is intended :) Andrew
  9. I'm with you there Carl, I don't want to butcher my harnes either. IMO LEDS seem a good way to go without cutting the harness (but expensive). To cut down on the cost of LEDs is it possible to prioritise which bulbs should changed first? I would assume the brake and indicator bulbs first as they provide the voltage 'spike' in the system when used which provides the excess heat? or is it the bulbs which run continuously when switched on ( dash and taillights) that cause the damage? Also is it possible to leave say one indicator bulb each side of the car as non LED to avoid having to change the flasher units or put resistor kits across the indicator LED's? Dave, when you converted to LED did you have any problems getting LEDs for the rear lights that fit through the bulb holes in the light housings? Some of the replacement LEDs look too big to fit thanks Andrew

pretty easy to cut some headlight gaskets if you have some thick rubber sheet, and an old gasket for a pattern. Thinking about it you can probably do without a pattern as it is fairly clear what size you need. Chris - I'm not 100% sure but I think you might be able to use front suspension balljoint boots to replace the emergency brake mount in the trans tunnel. FWIW Andrew

    Well done Dave!!!!
  12. Ok I just did a search and I now see that the taillight/parking light fuse is prone to melting the fuse box as well as the headlight fuse.
  13. This is a new one on me. Is the problem with the taillight fuse overheating like the headlight fuse? ie you get a melted fusebox if the wiring or fuse is dodgy? Wattage going through the tailights is very low compared to the headlights? Andrew
  14. Be careful. Isn't there a 'second chance' scam going around at present.

upgrading to IE6 cured it for me. It was the donations banner on mine that was blocking out half the page. In IE6 it is showing OK now. Andrew
  17. 240znz I am as certain as I can be that there is no difference LHD to RHD. My early LHD car also has the slave cylinder on the RH side of the bellhousing ( looking forward), and the master cylinders for my RHD and LHD cars are identical. Quite a bit of choice for master/slave cylinders on ebay too. hope it helps Andrew

Amen to that. My one unbreakable rule with ebay.
  19. Dave A money order is on its way for 2 harnesses as agreed Thanks Andrew

No problem!! If yours are original then I would replace them to avoid damaging any new glass you put in. You can get the inner trims separate from the door panels - rzola does them regularly on ebay. You can get the outers from VB or MSA but they are pretty expensive about $70US each side plus shipping etc Andrew

    Thanks Carl, just got it

Do you mean scratched? This usually happens when the external rubber strip or the inner top strip on the door panel goes hard/worn with age or you have some dirt inbetween the strips and the window. This then scrapes against the glass as it is rolled up and down. Similar thing happens to the windscreen where you can get get the wipers leaving lines on really old windscreens. I have heard of people getting minor scratches out of glass with jewellers rouge, but I would think replacement would probably be your best best if it is that bad. hope it helps cheers Andrew
  23. A steady trickle of ex USA LHD cars in the UK, that are being converted to RHD. LHD battery trays do not fit RHD cars so LHD battery trays are probably being skipped. there's an opportunity for someone there. Andrew

Vicky I was under the impression that Nissan stopped the vintage 240z program due to them losing huge amounts of money on each car, not due to shortage of OEM bits. I'd like to know for sure what the real reason was. Andrew
