  1. I'm guessing you want to try to save your paint right? So, If it were me, given the description of the foreign material, my first weapon of choice would be a heat gun to soften the gunk along with a small putty knife do a little digging. I would start on the center piece first. Once that is figured out, then be very gentle with the side pieces. Good Luck!
  2. +1 on the Black. Just a little bit of Red goes a long way visually as well as any chrome(ish) parts against a Green background. And don't forget whatever color your block is going to be. That's where most of the attention is going to be. Just my two cents only, your opinion counts the most since you will be the one showing it.
  3. Check the EFI harness connections at the battery. I recently had a similar problem when I cleaned up my fuel pump. I reconnected the big neg cable and the engine would turn over but the fuel pump would not work. I hadn't noticed that the separate EFI ground had come loose when I pulled the big Neg cable. Hooked it back up, didn't have to get a new fuel pump.
  4. This may not be feasible for you being in Europe, but as an option there are specialty repair places here in the States. I have not used any of them so I can't really vouch for them. Might be a "if all else fails" remedy. http://tristarrradiator.com http://www.bobsspeedometer.com/1/120/services.asp
  5. Vacuum lines are also an important part of the EFI. A big enough vacuum leak can prevent the engine from starting. Once you get the ignition figured out and while you disassemble/clean the Fuel injectors, replacing the old cracked vac lines would be easy to do. The ones in the engine bay are obvious and easily replaced and since there is no current interior, now would be a good opportunity to replace the vac lines to the vacuum selector in the dash.
  6. Welcome to the group! You've received excellent advice so far from some very experienced people. This is a great source for trouble shooting S30 mechanical, electrical as well as history. Rust free puts you well ahead of the pack as far as getting it back on the street. You will be entering the "while I'm here" zone very soon and it will make you realize how everything connects and functions. Be methodical and patient. I found it to be a rewarding feeling when I finally got mine to a drivable condition.
  7. Nice of your neighbor to bring you breakfast........
  8. A little John Fahey to smooth things a little https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=A0LEVjzwmDhaVNEAM2sPxQt.;_ylu=X3oDMTByMjB0aG5zBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzYw--?p=John+Fahey&fr=yhs-pty-pty_weather&hspart=pty&hsimp=yhs-pty_weather#action=view&id=53&vid=080fd2f2eb574ffda5a5a59c912c6709

  10. No list is complete without Big Mama
  11. No doubt, a title is the definitive proof of ownership. But I'm confused how different states apply different laws. For example, Georgia does not require a title on vehicles older than 1985. Bill of sale is good enough. Tennessee requires a title. When I went to title my Z purchased with a BOS, the DMV told me it was not worth the effort and the BOS was ample proof of ownership. When I asked what if I wanted to sell my car to someone in Tennessee? the DMV responded that TN would honor the GA BOS and handed me my License plate.
  12. I think what Cliff was referring to was a little deeper than politics, more of an assault on Southern Heritage and Values. At least that was the feeling I gotten from many folks around me on both sides. Kinda' like when your certified crazy relative gets on TV. You fear everyone will think you are just like them. Hmmmm......Maybe that's why all my kids don't want to be seen with me out in public.
  13. To quote Lou Reed... "Plucked her eyebrows on the wayShaved her legs and then he was a sheShe said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side,Said, hey honey, take a walk on the wild side." I stand by my original statement.
  14. Sunroof, Moonroof, Hole over your head, whatever, is relative to the time of day it's in use. Was not a factory option. However it does look much better than the aftermarket hack jobs that were common in that time period. The Question is, Does it Leak?
  15. Sorry to to be lax on this thread. Typical of slow motion progress this time of year for me. Just got a call from the machine shop and he wound up boring to 20 over so new pistons are required. ITM's from Rock auto are available. Anyone have an opinion on these? I'll have to check the weights of the new set of course and balance as necessary. Looks like my learning curve is going to bend a little more. Also the crank is good and got a polish and I'm looking at bearings. Is there a "better" brand of bearings. I know Clevite are standard but what about the Sealed Power brand?
  16. I agree that taking the door panel off is probably the best way. I did the lock swap because mine were worn. I could lock but not unlock. Now it's the opposite, I just have to hold the handle up when locking. Kind of a pain but it works. My weapon of choice for door panels is this $5 beauty from Autozone. I found the perfect 77' door panel clips on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040CTVAE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These are reusable like the origianals.
  17. This is a wet/heavy snow and the trees suffer the most. The good news is that the ground temp is not at freezing so the roads are still very drivable and the forecast is for some warmer/sunny weather, at least in my part of the South.
  18. Got the same thing here Cliff. Schools closed and idiots out on the road, welcome to the South in Winter.

  20. They are. Because they know they'll need parts and you have to go find them.
  21. Let's not forget the 350Z. You could find one of those in your price range and still be cool, just not as cool as us S30 folks.. I've never driven one but I hear they're nice. As far as a daily goes, mine is a Toyota Highlander. It moves quite well and I dare say could give my tired ole' stock 280 a more than a better run for the money, just not around the corners.
  22. Let's ask Wheee (Mark) on that one................
