    Hope you're hanging tight!
  2. Ditto on Chickenmans' recommendation. Better safe than sorry when it comes to head bolts. The good news is that you probably won't snap any when removing them. Stock head bolts are not re-useable. ARP bolts are, but they are more expensive.
  3. I would say that most of us here can relate to, or have personally experienced, what you beautifully wrote.
  4. The actual color you are looking for is Ginger. You are going to have to look at samples from different vendors to even come close. That being said, I found these on Ebay. Looks close but they call it Burnt Orange. A lot depends on how accurate the color is on the photo and your monitor. Good Luck! http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-1978-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Genuine-Leather-Seat-Covers-Burnt-Orange/162590797379?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41375%26meid%3D48dfabd5396f4bd1ab31cdf6fc6ffac1%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D162561505753&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  5. Hmmm, After eating a bunch of Oreo's it would be the human version of a 3D printer. The possibilities are endless, or until you run out of Oreos........
  6. I've got a few hornet stories. I definitely have a opinion of them....... Good luck with the eradication.
  7. Here it is, Read what Carl Beck says.
  8. You'd be better off finding a complete engine... There is a thread on here called awakening the beast, or something like that, It's all about reviving an engine that has been idle for a very long time. Do a search.
  9. But on my map it's only a couple of inches away...........
  10. There are a few Canadians here on the forum like @wheee!. They might be able to point to some Z clubs in your part of the continent. Also might know where parts/engines are. I'm sure they will chime in at some point.
  11. Glad that's working for you. Like Patcon said, let it dry as long as possible. I say this because I remember you mentioning about coating the tank and then putting it to use after 2 1/2 - 3 days. That was premature according to the directions of Red Kote. While it is off, take a peek inside just to make sure everything has adhered. Take a pic with the cell phone if you can. I used a handheld LED light in one opening with a phone cam peeking in the other. I'm curious.
  12. +1 on the solvent down the tube. And when you blow air down the tube be sure to keep your face away from it and wear eye protection!
  13. You want robot women? It also parallels hard to find Datsun parts.
  14. +1 on Dad's advice. This Kim guy is trying to take advantage of you for sure. And for future reference, POR 15, and probably Red Kote too, are removable with POR 15 Solvent and other paint removers. I know the current fuel problem is frustrating but it's entirely fixable. We've all been there and I'm not going to muddy the waters with more advice. Go slow and be methodical.
  15. Welcome Mike! Looks like a pretty solid 280. Are you going to keep it a race car or make it streetable also? There are a more than a few racers here on the forum and I'm sure they will chime in pretty soon. Good Luck!
  16. Soaking in Penetrating oil, CLR, or Vinegar will all loosen the rust. It does require some force to pivot though. You could put one end in a vise and wiggle it to help it along.
  17. Beautiful drive day for the Z today So I went here https://chattanooga.craigslist.org/pts/d/datsun/6201087458.html I've been itching to see everything and looking for a few stray parts. His name is Roger and seems like a really nice/honest guy with too many cars. 28 according to him, 240's, 260's,280's, 280zx's,300's, Plus LOTS of engines, carbs, wheels and stuff already pulled. He wants/needs to sell them by Sept.. He won't ship and I can understand why. It really is overwhelming. Consider it a Pick and Pull Bonanza. Going to make a list and go back
  18. Double check your firing order since there was confusion in the beginning. TPS is not supposed to move like that, http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/tps/index.html Use a timing light. Check your PCV valve and hose.
  19. I think there is a whole car in there somewhere.
  20. You've gone to a whole new level, Mark. Looks fantastic!
  21. The old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it " comes to mind. You've mentioned money and tools being in short supply right now. Your current project project is going to set you back 6-800 bucks in parts and service. Engine builds cost. Tools cost. Time costs. Judging by the location where you pulled the head and given the lack of garage/storage space, I don't know how you will get the block out now that you've pulled the head . I would offer that you finish what you started with the head and when it is successful, then look at picking up a used L28, put it on a stand and rebuild at your leisure while you drive your Z. Just my opinion.
  22. Just saw this on Ebay. It's a 72 Japan car but maybe a starting reference point as to value? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Datsun-Z-Series-240z-/222597966228?hash=item33d3df6994%3Ag%3Aa1YAAOSwqYdZe-yM&vxp=mtr
