Maybe y'all touched his heart seeing 3 Z's together. It would have gotten my attention for sure. At any rate, today would be a good day for you to buy a lottery ticket also.

I'll slip this one in the pile….
  3. Put my 77' in it's first car show today. Got a lot of love from a lot of folks!
  4. I'm sure that in Canada as in the United States, where you wear your beaver is a personal choice. If you need duct tape also, well……….
  5. Edit: And I apologize for the hijack. P.S. - Pants are optional.
  6. Pants? Who's wearing pants?
  7. Instructions are on the can.

WowZa! That is a clean lookin' 70'. Welcome aboard Sailor.
  10. General rule of thumb, If there is a hole where it used to be solid, it's probably a good thing to repair it. So the next rust hole you come across, either patch it or replace it. That is about as specific as I am willing to offer.
  11. Floor Pans, yes, Rockers, probably, and you never really showed the Dog Legs. Wouldn't be unusual to replace them also. Can't see the extent of the Rocker rot, I say go big and do it all. Patch the front wheel wells and check your frame rails. Call it a normal day in Z land.

    Schwing!
  14. Nope, I rarely refer to my Z as "Her". Depending whether I'm driving or bent over doing something like tool man is doing, I sometimes use other colorful descriptive language though. Plus, when I said girl, I should have mentioned she was about 275lbs. I'm no lightweight, but I think she could have owned me .
  15. A lot of us have been through ,or are going through, this. All I can say is that you are "bonding" with your Z right now. Your bragging rights list is growing. I once went to the parts store to get something and mentioned that there wasn't a nook, cranny or nether region that I hadn't touched on my car. Maybe it was the way I said it, but the girl behind the counter sure looked at me funny…….. Also, be sure to plug those FI holes before you drop something down there. I'm sure you're not looking for a reason to pull the head.

Ah, that bittersweet moment when you discover that it was something you did/didn't do and NOT something new. I just experienced it yesterday afternoon when mine shut down out of nowhere when I had to be somewhere. Turned out to be a loose connector to the AFM which I had replaced last week.

Have you taken the lock out? Pics? Sometimes just removing and cleaning will help. These old locks just wear out sometimes. You can source replacement locks from ebay, but I've never used them and cannot attest to their quality. A quick fix, if you needed to drive daily, would be to swap locks with your passenger door. Sorry, doesn't solve you problem though.

Again, welcome. and for future reference, Unlike FB, this group has a search function at the top right side of the page. You will find a lot of subjects already have answers there. I would also highly recommend you download the FSM for you car here http://www.classiczcars.com/files/category/4-manuals/. PS: We love pictures to help solve issues or to show off a little!

Nice work! Question: Is the bedliner paint somewhat flexible and will it fill in small cracks? I refinished mine last year with the Great Stuff and SEM bumper repair material. I also used SEM's Trim Black for the final stage. Since then it has developed small cracks (not wide ones) where repairs were done and I'm looking for something to conceal those.

I don't have any problem with scratches or scuffs, but I don't really haul anything other than some plastic bags on occasion. I had the same questions when I started the process and all I can tell you is that the paint is bonded well with the panels and the texture is still there. It's not going to flake off as far as I can tell. Here is one of my finished quarter panels. The second pic is a little blurry but you can see the texture is intact.

My interior is the Ginger color. I opted to paint with the SEM products. Even custom color matched the original color at the Automotive Paint Store. SEM has a prep spray called 38363 Sand Free that works well with the panels. The trick was to apply paint when the Sand Free was still wet. Everything matches and looks like new. It just seem easier to me as you still have to clean everything and prep it. Then just spray. Had it all done in a 1/2 day.
  24. What they said, save it if you can. You can find one for a 77' but it will cost you dearly! http://www.zcarsource.com/gas-tank-sending-unit-280z-77-78-rebuilt-de_8_55266_52788.html

Back to Wheee!'s topic. I Don't know what price you got your tank for but I found this on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-12-74-7-76-280z-Coupe-EFI-Fuel-Tank-BOILED-OUT-COATED-/141894648036?hash=item21099480e4:g:CcMAAOSwX~dWsj2n&vxp=mtr
