What is the correct color for the rear tailight panel
Was wondering what the correct color for the rear tail light panel on a 1970 240? I know that its black but not sure semi-gloss,, glossy, matte finish etc. If anyone has a paint code or formula for the correct shade of gloss I'd appreciate it? Thanks guys!

Another Nice Looking One
If I could find a Z in that good a condition on the East Coast I would snatch it up. Appears to have dual webbers on it and while they have their faults it's certainly better than the dreaded flat top. If the reserve is somewhere around the bid that its at know I dont think you could go wrong(especially if you are close and don't have to pay to ship it. Speaking of flat top SU's has anyone seen the carbs on e-bay that have a starting bid of 499.00. I'll look up the link and post it in a bit. Mighty expensive for a boat anchor!!

'77 Parts Car in VA
I am about an hour away from Charlottesville and would be willing to buy the car and store it at my shop for a while if anyone out there wants it. It's bound to be worth $50 bucks!

hey bambikiller how's the weather in pleasanton?
Hey Carl, I saw that you were from pleasanton and thought I would say hi! My father lived in Livermore till he passed away. I moved out there to take care of him in his last few months and ended up staying there over a year. It's a long story. Anyway I really loved everything about the area (except the high cost of living-housing etc. and really miss the nice weather you get there. Anyway just thought I'd say hi! I'm a new member and have been reading some of the forums and appreciate your sense of humor.

I hope you can find a Z closer to home. I'm sure that in a state the size of Texas there have to be a few good ones left. I'll keep my eyes open here on the east coast for you. (although that's no better and than finding one on the west coast with the exception that you'll get a whole lot more rust here. Don't give up your car is out there somewhere just waiting for you to find it.

It's a nice looking car but did you see the damage on the front? Also I wonder what his reserve is as he has "buy it now" at $3000. I dont think I'd be willing to give much more than $1500 for it.

just wanted to say thanks
No this was a local car in my area (Lynchburg Va.). It wasn't advertised it was just one I had known about for a long time. I finally went and talked to the owner on Sunday, lokked at the car and made him an offer. He said it made a difference that it was going to somebody who appreciated Z's. Plus when I saw that it had the 2 outlet monza muffler just like my 260 from years ago I really had to have it. I guess it goes to show that if you see a z somewhere don't be afraid to ask if its for sale. P.S. does anybody know where I can still get one of those 2 outlet monza mufflers today? They really do sound sweet!

just wanted to say thanks
Hi everyone! I just wanted to say thanks to mike for the help he gave me while I had trouble logging in. I'm a new member and when I signed up I did'nt follow the insructions and disabled the cookies so everytime I tried to log on the system did'nt recognize me. Well after e-mailing mike 3 times we figured out what I did wrong and now no problems. I'm alot better with cars than computers! Also thanks to everyone who gave their opinion on my post: whether or not to restore or modify my 70 240. I think I going to go back as original as possible (wallet willing) but not obsess about every little detail to make it concours correct. Also just bought a 1971 240 from the second owner all original, solid pans, rails, even battery tray, but some rot on the rockers and quarters. Thats about as good as it gets here in Va. I feel like I did really well on the price too; $750 bucks! I plan on getting a digital camera soon so I'll post pics of both cars in their present state.

Need opinions on whether to restore resto/modify my 70 240
Hey everyone! I'm a new user so please be gentle. I've got a question that I need some opinions on. I definitely want everyones feedback. I have a 70 240 HLS30 01233 that I am debating on whether to restore to OEM or to do a resto/modified type thing. Several things complicate doing a full boat original resto. First the body plate in the engine compartment is no longer there(thanks to me many years ago painting the engine compartment and not putting it back. What can I say, I was a dumb teenager. Secondly and this has baffled me from the day I bought the car the build plate on the door jamb has had the production date scratched out. It looks like someone took a knife and started whittling away on it. I can just barely make out the build date as 2/70. These are pretty much Irreplaceable items right? If so would it be worth doing a Nos restoration on this car? My other thought was to just restore to the way that I like it(stroked L24, webers, nasty cam, and original exterior maybe smooth some things off). What do you guys think?
