I don't think this guy would mind seeing the car has already been modified from original, ie the colour and the rear end. Colour is always a personal preference and to make proper use of mounted flares you do need to do some cutting. This being the reality of it I just could'nt bring myself to chop away at a good 240 as well as the cash you'd have to splash out. Seeing a couple of the threads say this car goes well then half your works already done.

Not a big fan of the colour but bought cheap this car could be fun. I have a new category for cars like this one and this car fits it nicely. Sounds like the sort of car that could be taken to with a grinder without too much love lost. This car would look nice in another colour to start with and seeing it has an L28 and goes ok I would'nt feel so bad about chopping away those guards to add some old school flares and BRE rear spoiler, fill those arches with some serious meat and dump it on it's arse! Now that would be one killer looking Z!

They're clips that sit just behind your feet to hold down your matts are'nt they! ?
  6. Not sure exactly, we still get Patrols in Australia, but from memory the early 80's had L28's, might even be some of the earlier models.
  7. I've seen nissan patrol's with flat tops in em. The earlier models came out with L28's!

MickieB, One of the members here, zr240(Ashley), has got a set of flares and rear BRV spoiler from Japan. At last contact with him he said he was going to be making copies here in Australia. Check out a pic somewhere on the attached page. All info is there as to his contact details. http://www.viczcar.com/Photos/Meetings/Meeting1/index.htm http://www.viczcar.com/index.htm Cheers Sulio

Hey Gee, You might find this site useful. Just copy and paste the Japanese into it and get an instant translation. Close enough to get the gist of whats said anyway! http://www.worldlingo.com/index.html Cheers Sulio!

Hi Andrew, I can get my hands on 240z tail lights from a freind so availabilty is not a problem. I was just concerned about structural issues when it comes to cutting sections of the rear!?!? Sulio

I own a 260z and and the only thing that I don't like on them is the rear lights in comparison to the 240z. I've taken the rear tail lights and panels off on a number of occasions and noticed that there would be some cutting involved to mount the 240 tail lights. Has anybody here attempted this? Dreaded exhaust fumes are one of the worries I have in regards to this conversion. Cheers Sulio!

Thanx guys. I have'nt got any vacuum lines in the engine bay and can't remember any. The parts car I had was sold. The only vacuum lines were the ones on my silly aftermarket cruize control, (which was ripped out as soon as I bought the car). I think I'm gonna run it off a simple on/off switch and use it mainly on freeway drives. I've heard the fan can be replaced by a 88-92 honda civic blower that's almost a perfect bolt on fit. It would be nice to have cold air in the car on those long summer drives and good strong air for dimisting the windscreen in winter. Cheers all!!!

I've installed all a/c parts from a 260 2+2 to a 2 seater some time ago and just left it unconnected till now, (summer). This included condensor, pump, compressor all piping and the part that sits in the dash, (that is like a small radiator). I thought I could just gas it up and connect power to it but have since found out I also need some other circirtry under the dash??? Any advice or pix would be appreciated.
  15. I've gone through a few tips and found that for both looks and fumes a nice size dumper solved my ploblem and I think it looks a lot neater than a long pipe sticking out at the rear. Good luck!
  16. 340mm front 350mm back
  17. I' got King springs in my car that are supposed to be super lows from memory and I generally like the way the car handles and sits although it would have been nice to have the back a little lower. Has anybody else found that with king springs the back tends to sit a touch high. See in pix.

Thanks Nick, I have been talking to freinds since my last post and have come across an L28 with a P90 head and flattops for a reasonable price (long story). From what everybody has said I think this is my best option. However I am still interested in your offer Nick. Could you private message me your mob number if thats not too much trouble, just in case this deal with the L28 turns out to be shonky. Yes Gav seeing Kostas car get up and go is inspirational for me too. After that night of crazy driving my poor old tired L26 said "buddy if you want to keep up with those guys you better upgrade!!!"...hehe... OK so lets set this thing up for Sunday. I'll talk to Kosta tonite. If you want to get together tonight we'll prolly be local having a quiet drink. If your free drop by and bring that book on the L series if you don't mind seeing it sounds like just the sort of thing I need to be getting on to. Cheers fellas!

I'm looking at doing some headwork to my L26 which has an E88 on it at the moment. I'm slowly educating my self on what is involved and how much it would cost. For the moment I am planning to stick with the L26 and my compression is ok so I assume the bottom end will hold out for a couple more years. I've been told that a mild cam, shaved head, bigger valves n springs, new seats, port n polish is what I should do. I still have'nt got any prices but I assume changing bigger valves would start to add up in cost. I read the N42 is a better designed head with bigger stock valves than the E88 and is commonly used on the L28. If this is true I think I would prefer tobuy a new cam for this head and put my efforts into this. Can it just be bolted on to my stock L26 block considering I think it would be a cheaper alternative??????
