Ok another silly question. (too much time on my hands. I'm sure I'm spending more time at work on this site than actually working. Zed mania!!!). When I put the foot down hard in my 260 I can occasionally smell some fumes coming into the car. I think I have tracked the source down and it will be sorted soon. I have noticed that on the early z hatches there are two vents, so the question is that if the aerodynamics of the early zeds are that fumes are "sucked" towards the car, how would this affect those vented holes and where do they breath to or are they just cosmetic? And whilst we are on the topic of vents; what are the side pillar vents for appart from the fact that they look pretty cool?
  6. Cool-will be good to get a few of us together. Good opportunity to take some pix. You mentioned you know of a few fellas that will drop by. Sounds good. I expect there will be at least four guys with early zeds coming and perhaps a couple of newer models. The more the merrier!!!
  7. Well I've been hoping to get something organized for a Sunday afternoon at the Elwood beach car park, with a few beers and a barby. It has been hard to get a date that is mutually free for all. Lets set a date-How would next Sat or Sun arvo be for you! I can set it for either and we'll then send out the word!?!?
  8. Had the same problem about two months ago. The plugs were only 2 weeks old so I did'nt think it would be a plug and surely enough after ripping half my hair out it was a fowled plug. Sorry dude, just read your post now.

Cool, and what would the capacity be? Does 75W-90 Synthetic sound like an ok viscosity? I've read there is an O ring sitting in the speedo cable hole. When I bought the car it was missing the speedo cable. Could there have been a leak via this unplugged hole if the O ring had fallen out???

I think I have bad synchro's on 2nd and 3rd, as listed recently by another member. I have adjusted my clutch pedal and changed the slave cylinder to a new one. Problem got a little better but still get a grind on quicker changes. Might be a silly question but I have to ask; how do I check oil in the box? how do I top it up if that is an option? This is my last resort seeing I have the option to buy another 5 speed box for AUS$150.

I remember Zpeed had a vented bonnett on his last car and he was'nt happy with rust starting to build up on the section that water would drip through the vents.

Sounds like an old kill switch that worked via a key lock. It was probably installed by the previous owner and disconnected since. It just would have killed the ignition to stop thieves.

hey gav, I heard once you polish up the rocker cover or even the carb "bottles" you can keep em shiny by applying a coat of clear on them. This is supposed to work for any of the alloy parts.
  15. Thanx guys-It seems to be that changing the hotdog is the way to go seeing the rear muffler actually is like a straight through but offset type. Maybe I'm just getting too picky because I don't want to lose that tough idle either. Hey Zpeed, your not online as often as before??? Hows the car hunting going? I was told you might have a BRE style rear spoiler sitting at home?
  16. The problem is annoying resonance from 2000 to 2500 revs. I have an l26 with headers, 2.25 pipe, hotdog with turboflow muffler. It's been trial and error starting with replacing the hotdog with a smaller one. This helped but it was still a little loud. I then replaced the big ricer chrome "straight through" rear resonator with a turboflow muffler. Much better. Still sounds great at idle. I expected my torque range to drop a little but I was pleasantly surprised by how much more pick up i got from 2000 rpm to 4000rpm. Now the only problem is the resonance I am getting at the 2000-2500 range. Is there a way of getting rid of the droning without further changing my exhaust? Can headers also cause any noticable resonance because i've seen them wrapped on some cars? Might sound silly but if the piping up forward was futher braced by rubber "links" would it reduce it or is the issue more the frequency of the sound inside the pipe?

yer the drilling part is something to be considered. I like the idea of the one peice spoiler. I think a black one on my red car would look sweet. Is there a place that stocks them in Victoria. It would be nice to see one before buying one. Perhaps there is a way to modify it so it can be glued on.

Occasionally I come across a pic of one of the old school rear fin spoilers. I think they have a real cool 70's look to them. Were they made by datsun? What do you guys think of this style of spoiler?

    thats a killer video he's made!!!that black 240z
  22. Yes I am eager to see what effect the new bushes and steering coupler will have. But as for the question on the 2+2 rear bar, it was concerning the diameter between the rear of a 2 seater and 2+2 bar. Is it the same bar. From what I read 1" 1/8 front and 7/8 rear is a good combo. My body roll is not all that bad but the new set up would be the finishing touch to a set up that I am generally happy with.
  23. Guys I think this site is just starting out. I have no problems accessing from work on cable, quick enough. Keep up the good work over in WA guys! Always good to see another Z site come to be here in Australia!
  24. Cool thanx guys. I also have a 260 2+2 that I have used for parts. Is the rear bar on the 2+2 thicker and would it fit my 2 seater?
  25. I am going to be replaceing some of the bushes and this would be a good time to replace the sway bar(s). Any ideas on what the stock 260 (74) front bar would be? If i go to an overly thick bar would this adversly affect the handling if the car is too rigid in cornering? If I replace the front sway bar do I need to match a thicker rear bar to it??
