  3. Not to thread hijack, but @grannyknot do you have pictures of your setup? I was working on it last night, I just wanted to see how the bars form around the strut brace. What’s the diameter of the tube used? I think I made the brace a bit wide at the firewall compared to the TEP mount.
  4. There is supposed to be a lot of improvements in flex reduction, you just have to get one that triangulates to the firewall as well.
  5. maybe its just me and i dont see it; the mirrors on s30's mount to the metal on the door. That mirror you posted looks like its mounting to near the window frame. If you're able to do this it might look good, but it seems a little out of place.
  6. It’s would probably be best at this point for you to search the forum for some float adjustment threads (there are a lot) there’s ton of good information in them.
  7. Could be some sort of blockage in the carb, did you ensure fuel is getting out of the rail? Can do so by disconnecting the hoses and placing 2 cups at the end. next step after you verify that would be that the float filters are clean, they are within the barn connector and the float lid, after that would be verification that the needle itself is clean, which you can remove and clean.
  8. unfortunately those tend to be higher priced items.
  9. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=power+brake+san+jose&ia=web ^^ these guys can rebuild the booster for you, I'd call them up and see if they are open. I used a beck n arnley MC from rockauto.com, might be worth inspecting the calipers to ensure the seals are working as expected, i had to rebuild mine. Hawk makes some nice pads, but there are plenty of people that like other brands due to them "eating" the rotor, I'm on my first pair still, very happy with the braking performance.
  10. grab a copy of this https://www.ebay.com/itm/How-To-Modify-Your-Nissan-Datsun-OHC-Engine-Book-ISBN-0895863537/143572353532?hash=item216d9441fc:g:H3kAAOSwdIVeZXSZ that ebay listing for the book is pretty cheap... If you are new around motors, check out some of the 10X videos from Whats the status of the motor? do you have it in a stand? Is it cleaned up? did you do a compression test // leakdown test on it? I grabbed a concrete mixing tub a couple years ago when i was building my motor, and just lets the droppings / liquids fall into the tub. Helps when you want to clean your trans, or diff too. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Plasgad-Black-Large-Concrete-Mixing-Tub-887102C/205451585 And a big bag of coffee filters (fiber free, easier to see the dirt, and cheap) and start cleaning, keep cleaning as you go. you probably want a turbo, i want a turbo.
  11. i dont recall my 240sx looking factory on my 240/260z..... if factory is what you are going for https://www.bre2.net/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=B&Product_Code=020A04&Category_Code=bre_datsun_accessories might work, i think s2000s had a similar mirror style.
  12. Im working on making my car more comfortable, i cleaned around the hatch of the car, added some sound-deadening inside the empty spare wheel well. Got the arm rest installed on the drivers door.... My buddy gave me some moving blankets, i just realized i could cut one up and have it go under the rear carpet for some additional dampening. ooof. gotta install the headliner back in the car, maybe this weekend....
  13. @roblaw i pulled out my 74' heater, let me know if you need panels or parts, if i recall correctly they should be the same.
  14. +1 on the gear reduction starter, i bought one by accident, but it seems to start up easier.
  15. https://imgur.com/a/30pg5AO let’s see if imgur works.... @siteunseen I’ll do some more testing and come back, in a “remote” meeting at the moment ha.
  16. I don’t have a video of my driving it because it’s kinda dangerous to get a video without a passenger. IMG_2170.MOV
  17. Ill try to get a video of what I'm talking about after work today. I noticed that there are a lot of vibrations in the car, it was after i got into my buddies 92 e34 m5 last night, very smooth and stable ride.. Crap now i gotta show my messy car
  18. I’ve replaced the bushing in the shifter with a brass bushing to get rid of slop, I noticed that if I’m in high RPM, 4-5k in 3rd, there’s quite a lot of vibration coming from the shifter itself, could this be due to the brass bushing? Or should I be inspecting the mount for play? im trying to reduce the vibrations coming from the car, perhaps my engine mounts should be inspected as well. I switched over to an RT diff mount and it made quite a lot of difference in the rear end.

  20. in the SF Bay Area our stay at home has been extended till May 3, for the most part i do exactly that, i stay at home, i DO go out to work on my car, and go to the local donut shop ?. When I do go around out into public spaces I wear a surgical mask (non-N95) and wash my hands / clean surfaces I've touched. Both my parents work in "essential" industry healthcare/shipping, so they have way more interface with people, but are also taking care when going out into public. @Zed Head IIRC they dont want people in large groups hanging around (like people going on hikes in groups, or picnics in the parks). Ive noticed that road noise has increased in the last week and half, before that when all this first started it was very very quite in the day time.
  21. i ended up using my fingers, it was not too bad, but one of the nuts got my hands all cut up.... i tightened them till the flange started spinning due to the torque from the wrench, i did not see a spec in the 260z FSM....so 1million ft/lbs it was. Rubber on the door lobe also dried, passenger door seems to need a little more adjustment. Thanks for the help @Zed Head @siteunseen
  22. @siteunseen @Zed Head any locktite on the engine side? Was thinking maybe blue, but it might be a pain if it needs to come off....
  23. Howdy, I decided to remove the sick electrical fans and shroud I made after having the temperature crawl up when I was tracking my car. I think the temperature probe is not opening at the advertised 190*c..... I saved the studs for the fan, but I can’t recall the orientation; does the longer threaded section go into the water pump/pully? Or does the shallow end ? there is a picture in the ebay link below. https://www.ebay.com/i/323788088672?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=323788088672&targetid=884451011963&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=200807&poi=&campaignid=9250237630&mkgroupid=91978482457&rlsatarget=pla-884451011963&abcId=1145977&merchantid=101705618&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2tXjtonG6AIVBMRkCh3SxQhIEAQYASABEgJgcPD_BwE im waiting for the glue to dry on the door lobe , someone answer quick! ?

  25. @siteunseen @Mark Maras @zKars thanks for the input! Honestly i think its the second time i've lost the clip, i'll check out my local parts store if they have something like that. I was also looking for the phillips/hex m6x25 bolts that are used for the 260z/280z arm rests, mine are warn out. I think MSA sells them for $1 per bolt. Its the the phillips head that is difficult to find.... Anyone have a lead on these?
