Turn Signal Socket Replacement
Thanks for the replies. I'm going with grannyknot's suggestion for the time being, though it may violate my "no duct tape" rule on this car. And thanks for the offer Steve! That'd be a long trip for just that. I have enjoyed reading your blog . Maybe I'll see you around sometime and take you up on it- I have buds in Atlanta and one of my best friends from school is a lawyer in Cleveland GA, not too far from you. Dave

Turn Signal Socket Replacement
So... this is my first new topic posting, and I'm sure its a dumb one but here goes. It seems my left turn signal/ parking light socket came loose from the assembly and the harness dangled/dragged on the road until it ate away half the socket. I've been searching for just a replacement socket online, but haven't found one that looks like it would fit. I did find a pair of used harnesses on ebay for $65.00, but that seems steep to me. Is it? Does anyone have a suggestion other than just suck it up and write that check?

Fuel Pump Wiring Harness ?s
My '72 came to me with one keyed under the steering column. Of course I didn't have any idea what it was, and discovered its purpose the hard way when I turned it by accident and couldn't get out of the driveway the next day. That was a long frustrating 12 hours (no joke) of trial and error until I finally figured it out.

Well, and the 5-speed.

An Early Z At A Well Known Dealer
It looks very comparable to my recent acquisition, except for the air dam and alloys. At about 4x the price. I hope it sells for that - makes me look like a genius!

Another Z At A Well Known Dealer
Yutaka Katayama signature on the dash! Great looking car, that's a healthy price though. Are those round mirrors right for a '71?

The Way Back Machine- 1972 240z - 113 Froggy Green
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm new(er) here, and this is like reading a great book only to find the last chapter torn out! What was the story on the head bolts? Inquiring minds want to know!

How To Get Out Of Used Car Deal (Suspected Freud)
Do not go through with the deal if you are uncomfortable with the seller. He would have no recourse against you except to keep your deposit as liquidated damages. and truly, he should be okay with that too since it nets him $500 for essentially nothing. If you are OK with that, go find another better Z. Good luck!

I haven't been in a junkyard in a few years! But I keep my eyes open. There aren't too many good ones left around town. If you find something you need in a pull-a-part place and need a hand getting it removed, send me a message and I'll be glad to lend two hands.

1970 240Z For Sale - Stunning Restoration
That website design is straight outta Angelfire circa 1997. But the car looks awesome. A price might be a good thing to put on a sales page, just sayin'.

Hey tdcrenshaw! Sure, we'll have to meet up! Is your Z up and running? Mine's daytime only until I get the headlight situation sorted out, but I've been wearing it out around town this weekend. There'll be plenty of time to work on it after these glorious fall afternoons have turned into Alabama winter rain. How long have you had your '77? It looks a lot like one my friend Janie Plaxco owned and was trying to sell recently.

Birmingham Broker found it for me. I've been looking for a long time for one just like this. It spent its first 40 years or so in Arizona, so very little/manageable rust. It's essentially stock except for a Pioneer stereo (but the I have the original radio) and Weber carbs in place of the SU's. 84k miles when I drove it home. I have to upgrade the headlight harness and (maybe) replace the combo switch, but other than that its been a dream.

Headlight Upgrade Harness's For Sale (again!)
I ordered your headlight upgrade harness from the Z Store two days ago - should be arriving any day! Wish I had ordered it BEFORE the whiff of smoke came out of my steering column signifying something very wrong in the combo switch when I turned on the lights. I'd only had my 240 for a few days - live, (read old forum posts), and learn, I guess. Anyway, it's cool to know who made it, and who to ask if (when) I have questions about installing it. My electrical knowledge is not much more developed than "fire=bad". Thanks (different) Dave
