Going Coilovers
Good point, The main thing that bothers me is how worn and tired the springs are. They're very soft being 45 years old and I think that what I liked most was how firm the others were. That said, I have done some research on the ground control ones as well as AZC ones but am thinking that in the end after having to pay for labor it shouldn't be that big of a gap from the T3. I'm not looking to lower the ride height any but the option would be nice to have as well. Both practically and aesthetically I would like to install fender flares to allow for the watanabes I have on there right now so my thought was to take care of the suspension before making any cuts.

The official "Post pictures of your wheels" thread
Still a work in progress... Got some chrome bumpers on there from fiberfab and I still need to get some fender flares, air dam and fender mirrors on there as well but it's coming along. Next big project is going to be suspension, upgrading the brakes to 4 piston calibers with some drilled and slotted rotors and then mikuni carbs eventually. Have the pieces but need to find the time! (picture shows it sitting a bit high right after I got the watanabe's on there.... there's rubbing in the back so fender flares it is!!! )

Going Coilovers
Alright so I've decided after taking someone elses Z for a spin this past weekend (and being thrilled with the ride quality) that I want to go coilovers. The kicker here is that I do not have the know-how or ability to section the struts or weld so I'm looking for something that I can bolt in directly if possible. The only place that I have found so far that does this is Techno Toy Tuning however (and please correct me if I'm wrong) I feel that $1950 for coilovers all around seems like a bit much even with included springs. Is there any other available bolt in ready product on the market that someone can suggest, or can someone let me know if spending the money here is worth it? I'm not looking at cutting into the car for camber plates or anything of the sort although I may be going with fender flares in the near future which is another reason why this must come first. Thanks for the help and I appreciate all responses you might have for me! -Chris

Brake Proportioning Valve
My 240z has hard brake lines connected to the stock brake proportioning valve below the master cylinder. There is fluid seeping from around these hard lines even though the nuts on the proportioning valve are cranked down tight. I'm going to be upgrading my master cylinder to install 4 piston calipers which I've had on hand for a while and can not seem to find somewhere to purchase a new proportioning valve (which I believe is the issue). Thank you for your help and any comments or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Lowering Springs Vs. Original Springs Height
THIS looks like it would do the job and fairly inexpensively as well! I'm going to do some reading on the topic and see what I need. Thank you! I didn't even know these were out there!

I'm going to shoot you a message.

Lowering Springs Vs. Original Springs Height
Any advice on rear wheel rub? Mine are rubbing when I accelerate, hit bumps, etc... I'm not sure if coilovers can solve this or what but I'd really like to NOT cut the fenders and keep the wheels on. I'm stumped!

Anyone Have A Parking/ Ebrake Connecting Rod?
Looking for a bit of an odd item. It's the connecting rod that joins the parking brake handle and the cable as depicted by number two in the diagram. If anyone has a spare or can build one I would really appreciate it!

Wheels... Beating A Dead Horse
I think I may have found what I want but I'm miserable with offsets. Does anyone know if an 11/70 240z with stock suspension can fit 14x6 wheels with a +20 offset and 185/60R14 tires? I know that the tire size is ok although a tad small but I was hoping for some opinions on whether they're too narrow or the offset won't allow them to work. I'm dying for a set of RS Watanabe's...

Mallory Distributors
You all have some very good points on why I should avoid the mallory kit. I'm starting to think that I should just pick up a pertronix kit and extra set of points and call it a day for now! My current goal is to make my Z more reliable and I thought that the mallory dizzy would not only do this but be an upgrade at the same time. I do like having backups though which is why I originally wanted the other mallory (which had points and I could use pertronix in). Considering that I most likely won't be able to drop pertronix or points in the unilite if it fails, I'll probably just stick with the stock one and go with pertronix.

I might bite the bullet on the replacement part issue but I am wondering if I could still just carry around a set of points to drop in there just in case something does happen. Guys have been doing that with stock dizzys with pertronix forever and in a pinch, it makes life a lot less stressful being able to carry them around in the glovebox. In the long run I'm thinking that if something happens to the module, I should be able to drop in a pertronix kit though.

Thank you for the response! I have read that the modules can be very fragile and delicate and that they are susceptible to damage even during installation or can blow out if a surge of power goes to the distributor. Tell me if I'm wrong here, but I think that the pertronix parts have been proven to a greater extent and would be more durable and reliable. Another question that comes to mind is the 'power filters' for the mallory distributor. Would a pertronix kit require this as well?

Mallory Distributors
Alright guys so I was planning on using a Mallory MAL 2363901 distributor and pertronix in my 11/70 240z but I just got an email back saying that they're discontinued and sold out. Every other place I've tried online seems to be sold out as well. I'm thinking of going with the Mallory unilite with mechanical advance (no vacuum advance) coupled with pertronix and was hoping someone else here might have had success with it and can give me some info. I'm going to be installing triple mikuni carbs shortly and plan on keeping the ballast resistor and using a 1.5ohm coil as well. If someone has done this before and could share what model they are using it would be greatly appreciated! As a side note, I have looked into other options such as late model distributors and have decided that I want to go with a Mallory one and spend a little bit more. Thank you. Chris

240Z Horn Wiring
Here's a weird one for you guys.... so the previous owner had the horn wired to a push button on the dash... obviously I want to use the horn pad. The horn is aftermarket and wired seperately from how the original would have been but here's the thing... I have two wires in the cabin. If I touch them together the horn beeps. The first wire I connected to the base of the horn where the original red and black striped wire was. Now the second wire is where I'm lost.... If I touch it to the metal part of the horn it sounds but connecting it this way doesn't allow for me to use the horn pad (or turn the wheel...). I was really hoping someone could help me figure this one out! Thanks! Chris

Brake Overhaul Question
I've been on forums like that before. I never could understand it... Why should people make the same mistakes time and time again when just asking a simple question can clear so much up? I'll keep that in mind though and probably just ask questions here as necessary. Everyone has been more than helpful so far, and there is a wealth of knowledge here.
