Brake Overhaul Question
Hello All, I have decided to upgrade the front brakes in my 11/70 240z. I ordered cross drilled/slotted rotors and the 4 piston caliper kit from MSA and before I install them I have a few questions. With the new calipers will I need to upgrade the brake master cylinder? What about the brake booster? If anyone has any experience with this, I'd greatly appreciate the input! I'm also leaving the stock drums on the rear! Chris

Wheels... Beating A Dead Horse
The closest thing to 0 offset I seem to see is +4... does anyone know if MSA's 15x7 wheels are all zero offset?

Wheels... Beating A Dead Horse
I've been doing research for a few weeks now and asking around and trying to gauge what will fit and not rub. I have an 11/70 240z with the stock rotors, hub and suspension and want to put an 8 spoke wheel such as the Watanabe's, Panasports or Rota RB's on my Z. I have narrowed it down to 15x7 wheels with a 205 size tire (heard that this is what to use for the setup I have. I was hoping for some input on the offset though. Any and all help would be appreciated and if I have my facts wrong at any point, please let me know! Chris

Seat Belts?
Thank you both, I have gone ahead and ordered them! Next stop is some new front brake rotors and (most likely) calipers before I rebuild the carbs over the winter.

Seat Belts?
So here's my dilemma. I have a series one Datsun 240z that was made in 1970. I want to install better seatbelts while keeping the original seats and to the greatest extent possible avoid harnesses. I understand that MSA sells a retractable seat belt but that it requires some modification on an early year car. I'm trying to avoid ruining the Z or taking away from it's classic flare. Does anyone know how much modification must be done to install the MSA set or have any better ideas? Thank you all! Chris

- Brake lights always on?
So I spent almost 6 hours yesterday tracing out wires and following the diagram. I did find the issue with the tail lights though! As it turns out I had a short. After replacing a few bulbs, fixing some wiring issues and such, I'm one step closer to having everything perfect. Now to figure out the dome light and more importantly the wiper motor. The wiper motor is continuous and the switch works (tested with a multimeter) but is not recieving any power. That aside the motor is shot anyway and I will be doing the honda motor upgrade. Hopefully I can get power to it though. I found a color coded wiring diagram and it is VERY helpful.- Brake lights always on?
No, those weren't work either. I'm thinking it might be a loose wire in one of the connections in the steering column? Looking forward to hearing what you have to say on the subject.- Brake lights always on?
Alright so now my issue is this: Brake lights work, hazards work, blinkers work and headlights work BUT at night when I'm driving the tail lights are off. The brake lights work so I'm sure it isn't the bulbs or anything obvious. Any ideas? Checking the wiring diagram as I type this.- Brake lights always on?
Funny thing is, I did this the other day and it was perfect. Then the ebrake cable goes and they're always on. Checked it out and you were right. No issues now! Drove a solid 30 miles with not a single issue. Next project will be putting the new cable in though!- Brake lights always on?
After my ebrake cable broke, I have noticed that my brake lights stay on even when the car is off. I did not have this issue before and am trying to figure out what the issue is. I understand that there is a switch where the hande is, but that doesn't seem to be it. I have a new cable on order and hope that once I install it, this will correct the issue, but I would like to hear if there is anything else that could be causing it.- Finally Joined the Forum
Thank you! I'll look into joining as well.- Broken ignition switch?
So it turns out that I didn't break it... apparently I just turned it in such a way that the bar in the switch (pardon my non technical terms) jammed. I took it apart and fixed it in about an hour which solved that issue! Now I have to figure out why my brake is smoking and smells like burning rubber!- Broken ignition switch?
After a great day driving, I had some smoky brakes so I turned the car off and stupidly turned the wheel over to check out the problem. One thing led to the next and I heard a pop sound in the column and now I can't turn the key or start my car. Not sure exactly what I broke but I'm asking for some help here. It would be greatly appreciated! Chris- Finally Joined the Forum
I've been reading posts here for a long time now. Just picked up my Z and am thrilled with it. It's a '70 Series One. While it needs some work still, I'm very happy to be able to use this site for reference and help along the way. Thanks and I'll see you around the forum! Chris - Brake lights always on?
