  1. - yeah - I was thinking that too. Getting my money’s worth out of it!
  2. Ohhh yeah - I’ve had a few days that started like that too ?
  3. Thanks Namerow! Good idea - my “notes” are all over the place but I will measure it up and post the dimensions when the car goes on the rotisserie.
  4. So I figured I would tackle the rest of the bad bodywork on the passenger front end..... Started by making a copy of the undamaged drivers side ... So far, so good .... Then got the laser out to check the alignment ... ... and things started heading south ?.... d I knew the previous work was bad but wholly crap - it’s out by more than an inch ! Looks like time for Plan B .... ] The backer plate is bent and rusty too . Will have to deal with that tomorrow. All in all it seems like it will work out though ....
  5. So the front rails are basically done. The jig is working really well. I can’t over-emphasize the benefits of having the car plumb, level and locked when it needs major surgery. Aligning the new rails was pretty straight-forward once they were fabbed up. Details here. ... Managed to true up the floors slighty as well. Now just need to do the battery patch, firewall repairs, rad support and (redo) the inner rockers and she will be ready to go on the rotisserie ???. Please stay tuned ....
  6. Wrapping up the passenger side patch .... g e
  7. So I got the inner wing stripped and ready to weld in the passenger rail .... The battery area is bad, but not as bad as I initially thought.... This braised in patch has to go .... = Started forming a patch ....
  8. PS. Comparison to stock ... and, of course, MORE LASERS! ?
  9. Hey guys! So I didn’t feel like welding today so I started bending a new lower rad support... I started by forming the upper section from 18 Ga on the brake and by hand with the shrinker / stretcher ... ‘ Next I cut and formed the lower section to match. More bending, more shrinker/stretcher .... More Clecos ... i
  10. ??☺️☺️? Busted! So the current restomod project is really “basic training” for the big one ....
  11. He helped me by taking that Roadster off the market. I have been trying to not buy it for two months .... so Thank You @wheee!?
  12. Very good point actually. Hadn’t really thought about it like that ....
  13. Possibly! They seem pretty stout. Depends on the final engine configuration so I trimmed the rails to keep the option open.
  14. Stock rad clears the trimmed up rails nicely. Aside: the stock rads sure are beefy. Were they meant to serve as a structural brace?
  15. Now you guys are just showing off ...??
  16. So getting back to frame rails ... Without any c25 for the weekend, I was forced to play “Game of Clecos” .... Fitting this rail was much easier than the first one. The jig really makes it simple to get everything in the proper alignment.... h
  17. Same. V-band turbo inlet anyone .... e
  18. Yes that is true for aluminum, absolutely. (But not much Al in a Datsun frame rail ??)
  19. Agreed 100 percent. MIG + 100% Argon = no beuno
  20. South Bend - very nice! You aren’t playing around! I will take you up on your Q and A offer if needed. Thanks very much.
  21. I thought I saw some custom mill work on your mini brake. Is that a Smithy lathe in the background? Your brake is a great tool for making all the small brackets. Thanks for sharing - I wasn’t joking about copying it ?
