  1. I realize that the vin # is extremely low, and I know that is the reason why Carl Beck was implying not to do any modifications. However, the modifications that 26th has described are very traditional, and besides the wheels, the parts are Nissan S30 parts. I don't want to speak for 26th and his Z, but I get what you were trying to say Carl, and I agree with Carl Beck and 26th I guess. I am only assuming, but it seems that 26th is making it how he wants, but being able to have it modded or oem stock when ever he chooses because the parts are all bolt on. Correct me if I am wrong 26th because it is not my place to speak for you.
  2. I think you should make it the way you want. I am planning to do a few mods to my car, but almost completely stock everywhere else. Someday I would like to have a set of wats and set of the steelies. You are going to have an awesome car. By the way, what is the steering wheel you are planning to get? Compe ? I would like to mod my car exactly as you are doing and don't listen to Carl. There is nothing wrong with making the car your own, after all it is your car and you are keeping it pretty much stock? IMO I would opt not to lower it. I think Z's with wats look great with some 70-75 sidewalls and no lowering. It gives it a much more period look. The stance of Guus's rally Z is my opinion the optimal stance. Take care, Ben:classic:
  3. You got some watanabe's 26th? Those are going to look splendid on your car. Congradulations. I too would love a set of those Kobe Sieko wheels. The ones in picture looked in pretty bad shape from the auction if they are the ones I was thinking of. -Ben

Hello Craig, I am seriously thinking about going, and I would love to caravan. I am not for certain that I am going, but I don't know if I would go on Friday. Do you have reservations yet? If we did go on Friday what would be the agenda for Friday night/ Saturday? Anyways, there should definately be a classicZcar club meet up. It would be neat if all of the czc members parked next to each other. Take care, Ben

I sent the editor of Sport Z Magazine a pm so we will see what they say. I will keep you guys posted. Ben
  13. hehehhe, you want a set of dual webers. jk, I have no clue what I am going to do with them. They are very large paperwieghts. Have a great time Carl.
  14. I would love to go to that meet and see all you guys and the Z's, but I will be with my girlfriend in SF seeing 'Mama Mia', which I am really excited about. Take a lot pictures and post them up. If any of you see a Fairlady Z please take as many pictures as possible of it(them) as Fairlady Zcars are my thing(your too? all z(s30)cars are my thing). You guys have a blast and drive safely. Carl, I don't want to hear about any dead dear on the wayROFL. Take care, Ben
  15. That is not at all a bad thing. Thanks for the clarification Alan. My view for Watanabe's does not change. Ben
  16. That Kobe Seiko wheel in that sports catalog sure looks like a Watanabe. Darn, so Watanabe's were more like a dealer option similiar to the mags that are on many Z's(mine included)?
  17. I couldn't say it any better Alfa. Hehehe, I have seen that picture. Those are on Yahoo japan. Ben
  18. Pansports are very different looking than Watanabe's. The nicest Panasport's are the 14 by 7J with the zero offset as you have Marc, but Pans and Wats are not from the same pea pod. I am not trying to bad mouth pans here because they are great wheels, I just prefer the look of the Watanabe's and I am a little bit of a purest because the watanabe's were on the Nissan sports option list and I will only put parts on my car that were offered by the factory.
  19. I hear ya on the whole drift craze thing with the 86's. I think it is all because of Initial D. I loved that anime. It is because of boys like me that they have that reputation. Everytime I see one I think, 86 panda. hahahaha. They are great for autoX I hear. My wheels are 14 by 5.5j. On the 75' 280 the steel wheels became 5.5j wide opposed to the earlier 5j so they could use the 195 tires safely. The watanabe site says that 7j with a +3 is optimal, but I have seen 7.5j under the wheel well of a z. It all depends on the tire width and offset of the wheel. 7j with a -9mm offset wrapped in 195s would be the lowest offset and the widest wheel I would go with just to be on the safe side. Does anyone know the exact numbers of how wide and what offset is the maximum to keep the tyres under with out flaring? Ben

  21. They are very nice, and the 7j ones are the exact offset I would want if I were to buy a set. I think they would look good on my car too, but I am holding off on wheels at least till the end of the summer. 26th, those wheels look good too. Were those on ebay not too long ago? I like that style, but I too prefer the spokes inside the rim. This style in this auction were offered on the Datsun competition parts list. However, I am not sure what sizes were offfered or what year Nissan starting offering Watanabe's on their sports parts list. I do know that the only diameter size for the Watanabe's on the list were available in 14". Anyways, it looks like these wheels will be going on a AE86. Those are quite neat cars too. I like the 4age powered ones with wats. Very nice. Are you into 86's Alfa? Regards, Ben
  22. Here you guys go. If I could get these I would have a really hard time passing them up. Here is a nice set of watanabe's that will fit a Z very well. I want to see one of you guys buy them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2470659981

What is the emblem in the middle of the wheel? Is it of checkered flags? These are the only wheels I can think of that look remotely like revolutions.

I don't know a whole lot about Samurai Z's, but they made many Z's(not sure of the exact number). They were for the UK Z like what Scarab was for the US Z back in the 70's. They would take a normal Z and soup it up with performance parts according to the customers specifications. They are not saying that they found Big Sam. Big Sam is found and doing well. Big Sam happens to be a very successful circuit racer in the UK that is a Super Samurai Z. The picture of the restored engine bay is of the Big Sam car. I hope this helps. Ben

Hmmm, are they 4 spoke wheels like the Revolution's?
