Nor Cali Meet
Hello everyone, I know there is a lot of you Z enthusiasts in Northern California and I was thinking that it would be great if many (or a few) of us could try to meet somewhere and talk Z's or take a drive on the coast. I am up for any suggestions on where to meet, or where to take a drive, where would be the optimal place to meet since many of us are scattered around northern cali. I am located in the south bay, Fremont. It would be great if we could have a gathering, even if some people don't bring their Z's because they are working on them. Give it some thought northern cali guys and gals, and post your suggestions. Take care, Ben:classic:

260Z Truth
Hmm, as far as power figures I thought the California export 260z had somwhere around 139bhp and where ever else it was exported, including the rest of the US it had 162bhp. Am I mistaken? When I first got my 260z in 1999 it had webers. Not side drafts, but two with cannon manifolds. I then put round tops on it and it has been great ever since. I really love my 260z, the bumpers are a little bigger than the 240, but they still look good. I have an early model. This is a question that I have been thinking about for a long time. Why does the 260 get such a bad rap?? The 73 240 and the early 260 are very similar, but the 73 240 does not get as bad of a rap. Personally, I would think that the 280 would have worse of a reputation than the 260 because it was heavier and farther away from what the 240z was than the 260, but that is not the case. Why is that? And I am not trying to bag the 280, I like it too. P.S. The webers are for sale, if anyone wants to make an offer or wants a photo I can supply that. Just drop me a pm. Cheers, Ben

Monster Garage
I think that Monster Garage is a great show, but I really love American Chopper. It is like monster garage, but more serious and the bikes that they build are spectacular. However, I watch both shows. Last night Southern chopper was on discovery and I was not impressed. Did anyone see American Hot Rod? I wonder how that show is. Cheers, Ben:classic:

what about the new z's?
Kyteler and others outside the US, Here in the US, 2003 was the first year that we got the sti and evo so they are not as common as they are where you live. -Ben

what about the new z's?
You cannot buy a used testerossa for 22,000USD. Try 50,000USD. The Ferrari that you are think of that you can buy for 22,000USD is a 308. You prolly couldn't buy a nice one at that. Why not buy an STI or an Evo??? IMO those are great new cars that are in category all of their own. Rally inspired, pocket rockets that hold 5 people that will blow the doors off almost anything on the strip or circuit. But then again, if I had to sit and choose exactly one car for 30 large I would have no clue what to buy. There are so many great cars, including the 350z, but I would be scared to buy one because of the buyers remorse I may have for not buying a different car. All in all, I agree that the 350z is not a new 1st gen Z like most everyone responding to this thread, but I do think it is a great car for not a bad price. Yeah the interior is a little shotty, but what cars nowadays have great interiors that are not luxury cars? Not many. However, my mom's VR6 jetta has a beautiful interior and it was 24,000! Okay, I am now off topic. The 350z is a great car, but not a 1st gen Z. IMO. For me, the only sportcar I need is my Z, so I will prolly not buy a 2 seater in the future unless it is another 1st gen Z(fairlady Z:love: ). You guys take care, Ben

Nor cal meet
Hello everyone. I was not sure if I should post this here or in the western USA region, but here it goes. R-Factory GT-R
The great thing about these shows or displays is that there are no ropes or barriers around the cars. Here in the states most of the indoor shows have the cars roped off, making it is hard to take pics and get a good look at things. I am envious. These cars will never see our shores. I hope I am wrong. Take Care, Ben

JGTC R34 Skyline GT-R

71 Safari winner
That sugar scoop is torn to pieces. This car looks battered, but not as battered as the 1973 Safari winner. I think it is great that Nissan left these cars in their present condition. It would be a shame to fix them like new again because this shows how brutal the rallies were and how much these cars went through for victory. Take care, Ben

Enkei Datsun Works wheels
Hmmmm, Enkei works rally wheels. Are they the superlites? I think that is what they are called. 8-spoke and 14 by 7j? I have no clue if they are works rally wheels, but I think I have heard them referred to as being competition wheels of the era. Pics would be nice. Cheers, Ben

what about the new z's?
The 350z??? This is a car that I question wether I like or not. I say I don't like them, but when I see one I oooh and awwwweee. If I stopped comparing it to the early Z's I would like it a lot more. All and all, go fast for cheap, too many plastic bits, but a great car. If it were my choice, I would get the exact one you explained seerex. I sure do like the nismo version though. Take care, Ben:classic:

Bargain for Aussie 260z wheels..
That's interesting because I have never seen those wheels on a US spec Z before. I thought that all of the 280z's came with steel wheels and hubcaps. Interesting find. I could be very wrong about this as I know very little about 280z's, so please do not get offended. Take care, Ben

Opinions Wanted: Iron Cross Style Wheels
I know these aren't iron cross wheels, but what about these? It seems that you could get them for cheap. These would make your car stand out even more. they look good polished too. Anyways, just a thought. -Ben http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2453112670&category=9903

Bargain for Aussie 260z wheels..
Someone maybe able to get a steal for a set of Aussie export 260z wheels. If the price stays this low someone will be getting a great deal even if shipping was a couple hundred dollars in USD. They would not be my choice of wheel, but for anyone interested and don't mind doing a little work to make them pretty again, then this is your chance. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2453112670&category=9903 Good luck, Ben
