I was just wondering what you guys think of these wheels. They look similar to watanabes. I like them, but I think they might be too bright on my z. I love that they have such a deep lip. What do you guys think about these wheels on a Z? Does anyone have a picture of a Z with them or own a set? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43954&item=2424953864 I want that that Fairlady Z look, but I am thinking about waiting to find a nice set of watanabe's. The other thing that I am thinking about is, would black or gunmetal watanabes look too dark on my car since it is light blue? Take a look at it in my gallery. I would love some feedback thanks. Regards, Ben

I think these mirrors will look cool, but If most of the car is stock then they might look a little out of the ordinary. If you were going to put an airdam and some non-stock wheels, then the mirrors would fit in just fine. I have never seen those mirrors on a Z, but I am sure they would look cool. However, if you want to leave the car stock but don't like the side winkers, then you might look into to getting European turn signals. You can get them clear for the side markers too, and it looks pretty cool yet still stock. Good luck with em. Regards, Ben p.s. If I would do it I would go with the European turn signals, but if I wanted that modern look I would paint the mirrors the body color.

  7. The pics are great. We rarley get to see machines as serious as those in the states. I saw there was a pic of a Subaru. Do you think you could send me some pics of the Sub's if it is not too much trouble. Thanks. My email is v12horse@hotmail.com. Regards, Ben
  8. That is not cool. I don't know why people would stoop to that level and affend others. If they are joking, that is a horible way of showing it. I am glad that on this forum people try to give the most helpful advice, even if it is for an obvious question. Regards, Ben

  13. I saw this thread and didnt think much of it, but when I started reading it I thought it was great. I read every post. Okay, I am 20 years old and I am a third year college student in Stockton, California. My major is biological sciences and my plan is to go to dental school. I have a girlfriend that I have been with for 2 years in October. She was my lab partner. She learned stick shift on my Z. I have a early 74' 260z. It is almost dead stock, except for the 72' su's, the rally clock, the radio(I want to put the old Hitachi in), the bullet racing mirrors, and the mags(I really want Watanabe's, but unless someone wants to trade for my mags, no dice.). My dad bought the car in the midwest and restored(for me). He likes the car, but my stepmom didn't care for it. He knew I needed a car, so I got it. When I get out of school I plan to buy it off him. This is a great forum and it has made me come to like the Z car even more. I am trying to absorb as much information as I can about them. My next car is going to be a Fairlady Z(probably in 10 years. hahaha). Thanks. -Ben

This thread has been of great interest to me. I started reading it earlier today during a study break. While I was studying I was catching myself thinking about the contents of this thread. I then quickly went back to o-chem. I just finished reading everything after many study breaks. Kats, you provided some great information on production dates and some very intriguing facts on the Z car. I am trying expand my knowledge on the Z car, and especially the Japanese versions. Thanks to people like you and Alan, and many others, this is possible. Was the clock that you mentioned that was inspired by Matsuo's watch the "Calender Clock?" If it is the one I am thinking of it is very much like a watch due to the date display that a watch has. This is interesting to me because I bought a calender clock (Rally clock) for my 260z. It is a beautiful piece. Alan, you are not wasting your time by posting pictures or articles on the site about the Japanese versions because many of us are really interested in them, and it is hard to come by information on the Fairlady's. Eventhough I have been inactive on the forum for a few months due to my studies, threads like this keep me coming to this forum. The knowledge that members of this forum have is mindblowing to a Z fan such as I. I hope someday to take all of this information that I am learning about the Z car and use it as some do. I will stop babbling away. Thanks everyone on this thread for great insight. Regards, Ben
  16. Thanks a lot. I was thinking it would be between a 150-300. I guess my best bet would be not to sell locally and not sell the tires with them. Thanks again. -Ben
  17. I am thinking about changing the wheels on my 260z. The ones that are on it now are the original(from the dealership in 74') mags, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a legitamate price I could get for them. Three of the wheels are in great shape, and one has slight curb rash. I would include the tires, which only have est. 10,000 miles on them. The wheels are 14'' and they are polished. I would include the lugs and caps. If you would like to look at the wheels, take a look at my gallery. I am just asking what a fair price would be for them. THEY ARE NOT FOR SALE. Thank you. -Ben
  18. Ardkore, that sounds awesome. My ultimate dream Z would be a Z432R, but when I graduate from college I would like to completely restore my 260. I would paint it the same color(Grand Prix light blue) and put the original wheel trims on it. The only thing that wouldn't be original would be the 72' su's that are on it already. -Ben

I have been looking for the original 4-speed shift knob with the green top for quite some time. If it is good shape I would love to buy it. Pm me with the details. Thank you. -Ben

Fairlady, I have 260 and I would love a set of Watanabe's on it. I really like the watanabe's in black, but I have seen them in silver and it looks pretty good. If you want I could send you the pictures of them that I have. Maybe you could send me a pic of your wheels. Just PM me about it. Take care. -Ben

I was talking with a chap at the MSA show that had a 2 by 2 Fairlady (the picture of it is in my gallery), and he said that a real Nissan made g-nose has a hard rubber bumper with a metal insert to strengthen it. I felt the back of the one on Mr. K's car and he said that one was a real g-nose, and the bumper felt like it was verrrrry hard rubber with a metal insert in it. Is this accurate information? -Ben
  22. I cleaned that area and sure enough the serial number is there. Live and learn I guess. Thanks. -Ben:stupid:
  23. I was just curious to look at the engine serial number on my 260 one day and I looked and saw the place where they were supposed to be, but no number. There is some surface rust on these elevated areas. Were the serial numbers on plates that were placed on the engine or were they engraved into the side of the engine? If it did have the number there and assuming it was the original engine, would they correspond to the car serial number? I do not know what to make of this, when I first looked I was a bit dissapointed that they were not there because now I have no idea whether the engine was from this car or not. Maybe I am not at a total loss. Is there another way to identify the engine? Any help would be most appreciated. Regards, Ben
  24. That is one of my favorite cars. There was only 1500 or so made. The only time that I have ever seen those are at car shows or when I saw a gullwing and a roadster at the Blackhawk museum. When I was at the Monterey historic races there were a few racing 300sl's(not slr's), and standing by them was Jay Leno. FYI. Take care. -Ben

Now the stereo only works when the lights are in the off position. It works fine when they are off, but when the lights are on the face plate on the deck flashes. I have no clue what is going on. It is so odd. -Ben
