Anyone know what this vin # means??
I am not sure what the C denotes either, but the G is what denotes that it is a 2/2. -Ben

Weber 45DCOE-9 refurb.
You did a lot of work here. The carbs look absolutely beautiful. Are you going to put the velocity stacks on them, or are you going to use the air cleaner system on the standard Z432 and GTR? -Ben

#913 On Ebay
I am very curious about this Z432 that you speak of Chris. Is this car in the states? I have heard of one Z432 in the states, possibly in Texas, but from what I have heard it is in the process of a restoration. Is there another? Please tell. I was looking through last month's Nostalgic Hero the other day and noticed a Z432-R selling for 10,000,000 Yen. For how few they made that is cheap compared to a 2.7RS or some of these muscle cars selling at auction these days. I too agree that the Zcar is a bargain no matter what condition. Even if a #1 car sold for 50k, that is a bargain compared to #1 Porsches, Ferrari's, and the list goes on. I cannot believe how much money muscle cars are going for these days. It seems like the whole collector car market is booming because cars are going up in value in almost every sector. It is good for the people who own these cars, and bad for the ones who don't. I wonder if 260z's and 280z's will ever get the respect they deserve. I have seen 260z's in primo shape go for pennies compared to 240's. Even 280z's go for more than 260's. What gives? I guess this is another subject entirely. Here is a funny story. I was going to the lab late at night a few weeks ago and I ran into one of my proffessor's in the parking lot. He knew a little bit about Zcars, and he urged me to never get rid of it and make sure that I take excellent care of it because it is going to be worth a lot of money someday. Don't worry Dr. B. I just thought I would share that. -Ben:)

new wheels
Those wheels look beautiful. They look very similiar to Watanabe GR-8 wheels, but better because they have a beautiful dish to them. Congrats on a beautiful looking car. -Ben

Nice 240Z in VA
Wow, that is a nice find Ed. What a beautiful car. Kats would be thrilled to see another blue/blue Z. I hope it finds a great home. The price is not crazy if it is in as good of shape as the pictures show. -Ben

I'm going to need lots of help
There is a Z specialist in Fremont, Ca, Dando's Automotive, that has done wonders for my 260z. The number to their shop is (510)659-7900. Ask for Benji and tell him what's going on with your car. They are somewhat pricey, but they know what they are doing and if they ever have to replace parts, they always found the correct OEM parts. Take care and good luck with your 280ZX, Ben Yount

Wow, thanks for sharing Eric. The Alpine 110 is one of my fav cars. The Z looked really nice too. Yeah Victor, seeing that Ferrari crash was a sad sight. I think it was a 250TDF.

NostalgicHero Nagoya show & swap meet?
Eric, I have a friend in LA who has a subscription to NH. However, it does not come to his house. He has to go to the Japanese bookstore in that little Japantown mall in I believe Gardena when it comes in. -Ben

Hi everybody
Those look awesome Chris. Are they going to be going on 26th or 27th? The polished lip really makes the wheels pop. -Ben

Hi everybody
Jagnew3, I am running RS-Watanabe wheels like Nate said. They are light, well made, and they have that vintage look to them. They are not that hard to find if you take the time to look for a set. I bought mine off of ebay, but I have seen sets on craiglist too. Also, check the RS-Watanabe website. They have a lot of cool pictures of various cars and Z's with different sizes and offsets. www.rs-watanabe.co.jp Thanks Nate for the compliments. You should find a set for your georgous 240. Gunmetal wheels looks great with orange Z's. -Ben

Hi everybody
Hello and welcome to the club. I live in Stockton, but I don't have an extra engine laying around. Send me a pm sometime and maybe we can talk Z's in person or take a drive. Take care, Ben

A little Eye Candy
That is awesome Ron. Your car is absolutely beautiful! I am glad your car got to be in that magazine. -Ben

What is the most important quality you want in a Z?
I voted for the strictly stock, the way it came from the factory because I really love my Z and I have not changed much as far as originality and I feel that it was darn near perfect from the factory. For now, I want it to be as good as a it came from the factory, then I will make changes if need be. -Ben

Late Euro 240Z indicators?
I am not sure if the indicators that you are referring to on the yellow UK model 240z were standard from the beginning of production, but I do know that they were standard from 1972 and on. However, I am not positive if they were done by the factory or by the importer. I believe that the indicators mounted on the bumper were also mounted on top of the bumper, and not below it as this would defeat their purpose. They were fitted on British cars to meet legal requirements. Thus, I don't think they were offered on any other market. I could be wrong on this, but these are just a few of my findings with looking at pictures in magazines and from the book "Datsun Z, Fairlady to 280Z" written by Brian Long. -Ben

C110 Skyline 4-door model 1/24
The weathered engine looks great. A little bit of black paint and thinner always adds more realism. Are you going to put ignition wires on the engine? Who makes the KPGC110 kit? Fujimi? I have heard that the Tamiya KPGC10 is an excellent kit. Your C110 four door looks great by the way. Ben

C110 Skyline 4-door model 1/24
That looks awesome Lachlan. I love the details in the decals that you have. The paint looks great too. You are too modest. Do you clear coat your cars? How do you like the metal foil? I too have a lot of models that I will someday start-finish. It was a passtime of mine all the way up until I got into college. I do miss doing them. Keep up the good model building. I love these pictures. There is something about toys that is just great. That my friend is not a toy though. Its a replica. Ben

another view
This is a really nice looking car. I love the color and the wheels. Put the worked up L28 into this car.

My Dad's new toy with my Z
Hi Ron, that was a very good deduction that you made. I agree one hundred percent to what you said about why my Dad bought this car. I let him get the Honda because I wasn't about to let him get a Z3 or a Boxter. I think he is really happy that he bought this car. It is just a hoot to drive. The other two cars would have been fun, but in a neutered kind of way in comparison. Victor, he eventually wants to buy a Z for himself for the weekends. The S2k is his daily driver. My Dad thanks you all for the compliments.

My 260z in Emeryville, Ca
I absolutely love them. The wheels just add to the mistique of old school cool. I am a romantic for things old and with the small diameter wheels, tall tires, and close to original gunmetal paint, I imagine my car being owned by an enthusiast during the 1970's. I really don't want to boast about them as I love any old Z as I rarely see them. I just hope that more people get interested in Watanabe wheels because I don't want to be the only one with them. In my opinion, no other aftermarket wheel is tied to the Z more than Watanabe's. I hope that doesn't offend anyone because it is only my opinion. Thanks for the interest Pete.

My Dad's new toy with my Z
My Dad is going through a bit of a midlife chrisis, so he bought a 2002 Honda S2000. It is a very excillerating car to drive. It is Suzuka blue with blue leather and it has the factory decklid spoiler and airdam. I won't be driving it very much. He doesn't drive the Z much though either.

Gas Mileage for '73 240Z
Hmm, I am getting really bad gas mileage. I was wondering if you guys could pin point my problem. engine specs: -no smog equip -oem electronic distributer (10 over and a 36 max. I am not sure what that means) -msd blaster coil. -my mechanic convinced me to use 20w50 oil. I think I am going to change back to 10w 30. -72' SU carbs -oem exhaust manifold - I do have ac, but I hardly use it. The car drives great, but I get 13-18 combined driving and I am getting 10mpg city. I love the car, but I hate to fillup as much as I do. It was not this bad before I had the work done on my car (exhaust manifold, new coil and distributer, oil change, and removal of air tube.) please help. -Ben
