So, finally time to make some pic's of something in my cellar.. I think this is a special part to run a 4 barrel carb of american cars on a 240z? can someone tell me what the round thing is?? (Does that fit ON the carb and go's to the airfilter???) It's all new parts and was part of a complete datsun z sale long ago.. Lookes like it will fit directly to the inlet manyfold normally used for the hitachi carb's. A question would be.. where are those 4 big threaded holes in the square block for?

I've seen one on the british television, so there is also one in england that makes them.. It was in one of the (many) restoration programs

That's a good question.. the strange thing is that the lighting bar (with also 2 lamps on USA version) above the licenseplate was also there just no lamps in them! (For as far i can remember.. please tell me if i'm wrong!) I see that the English and Japanese versions also have these "on the bumper" chromed bar. Personally i like them but often these chrome bars are totally rusted away. I got no idea why they differ, i do think that the american (top) lights make the licenseplate better visable in the dark then the orig. Japanese (and euro) lighting. I never bothered to install some euro bumpers on my car (with 2 big holes in them for this special lighting fixture!) Also 3 ! in my collection. ๐ฎ ( I noticed that the top one in this pic is also a extra light one! (makes a lot of difference in weight..) If someone needs a bumper... i got 9 at the moment.. (front 5 and rear 4 incl the side/end parts) and some coat hangers for on them as well haha..

I have searched for the old topic i ones made but can't find it anymore.. So made a new topic and i do have a set of 3 rare (same) parts.. for sale but it aint a cheap.... Here some ultra rare EURO rare licenceplate lighting units... in more or less good condition.. one is without the glass incerts.. sold them many years ago for a few euro.. 1 polished and 2 are in grease.. the polished one is on the rest of the pic's. Those "rings" on the last one is not rust but just a sort of dirt that comes off easely.. ( They , the 2 unpolished ones have a bit of rust on the inside.)

I drove my first Z in 1991 (280zx) and 6 weeks later bought a 240z.. that one was a mess.. so after some time i took it apart and stored all the parts on the attic. I still have some of them. Since the later 90's i'm a visitor of the local marketplace with DATSUN as the search word.. I saw how a 75 euro gearbox went to 1500 euro (incl. warranty.) for a 280zx 5 speed.. in 10 years time or so.. These days i sold some pretty nice new special parts like orig. fender mirrors in the orig.box.. I had a topic made of the special and/or rare parts i and others have.. i could bring it to life again i think..

Dogleg and bulldog nose.. ?? ...Lots of dog parts in these cars !!

On both ends there is a mid-reinforcement, so there is the beam tripple sheet-steel! A good habit would be that buyers always took a look in those beams!! I got a special camera of 4,5 mm (about a 1/6th of an INCH! ๐ ) for this!

'69 through '73 Steering Wheels - Wood, or Plastic?
dutchzcarguy replied to HS30-H's topic in HISTORY
OH.. man... we have a saying here in the netherlands.. go ride a bike! meaning: Go away.. leave me alone.. sort of.. I didn't read all of it (To tired) but the only thing i want to say is: I used some REAL (mahogany) wood for my wheel!! (Look left in the circle!)... and Nissan DID NOT !! the END! Translation.. go ride a bike! = Ga toch fietsen! Ps. i bet if you burn it, you will get some bad black smoke, proving it's wood with a LOT of plastic in it.. -

I could not see any grain in the parts i had i remember vividly.. maybe my wheel didn't have woodparts in it.. i don't know. it looked like hard powder. (Can we stop about this topic? ๐ ) -

dutchzcarguy replied to HS30-H's topic in HISTORY
I regret that i didn't save some of the parts i broke off of my old steeringwheel.. i remember it was very hard and looked like stone powder, but hard as rock.. thought it be a mix of poly and woodpowder then. You had to be careful not to cut yourself on that stuff! -
Huh? Your in a coma? ๐ฎ

Do you recomend these cams (Comp Cam)?
dutchzcarguy replied to julitoMX_1964's topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Lash pads.. okay, but a new set of rocker arms too? Why? (If the new camshaft has about the same Lift and duration) i would check them and give them a good polish.. (and check the contact area).. Oh i noticed something else.. i never looked at those valve timing diagrams very closely.. and.. i discover that there is always a valve open? how can you make compression then? yup.. thought about it and yeah the engine makes 2 complete rounds per cycle! It's because the openings of the valves is drawn on the 360 degrees the crank makes not the cam.. Am i making sense? So from the 720 degrees (on the crank 2 rounds) the intake is 248 degrees open and so is the exhaust. Plenty of degrees to make some compression! ๐ -
Oh wow OEPS, You Are (!) in Germany.. In Nordrhein westfalen oder? I thought somewhere in the states... not seen "germany" I live near the border with germany..(Yes NRW, near the A77 highway..that's on our side.) I'm sure i have those bolts.. even a complete front suspension.. But you should not have a problem finding such bolts here in europe as i already said.. Found some 10.9 bolts bit longer.. but strength is 10,9. don't know the pitch you need... this 7,77 euro bolt is 2,0 (5th article on this site.. Zoeken in Techniekwebshop.nl

I could look in a service manual... ๐ด

Maybe it would help if someone posted a picture with the dimensions? I don't have a clue what a "control arm pivot bolt" is. and where it sits in a front suspension... ๐ Europe has them for sure... i think๐

My feb. 1971 car has 2 keys, one (one bearded) key for ignition and a (2 bearded) key for the doors and hatch. It must be around april that year that there was only one key (a 2 bearded) key. (the ribbed part on a cylinder lock key is called the key's barb (or beard?) My translator is not very clear on this..sorry.. we call it "baard van de sleutel" in dutch.)

For your resto? i would sell some spare parts and buy some new (copy's) of the rear lights. They are a bit lighter i think then the new originals but a very nice solution.. you can always restore the old ones and sell 'm sheap.. (with some polyester.)

If you or someone else needs a electric antenna the orig was a harada and sometimes on ebay. In my 240z i got a ordinary toggle switch in the dash, just above the emergency light switch. (early dash)

Hahaha Yes! the first one! ๐คฃ My underhood light had a faulty bulb.. And as lots of people would do.. i switched it several times not knowing anymore what was on or off! Aparantly by driving the car the broken tungsten wire in the bulb reconnected and the light came on (even brighter)! Now the car stood still for a week or so so it drained the battery completely! Solution.. disconnected it! ๐ And so ends the story about a car that always worked when needed.. only once in over 20 years it stopped due to a problematic " if you have a problem under the hood emergency light.." pfff...
