  1. I hope those are originals, but watch out.. in or around 2000 there where an awful lot of those fore sale.. and these days they can make them fake-old.. Now guys, stop/don't start a long conversation about the authenticity, because we'll never know for sure. (Maybe someone had or found a stash.) BTW, have you heard, today this? On german radio i heard that there was someone that sold fake oldtimers just by making a copy and sell all over the world making 100's of millions !!! WOW !!! (I saw also a YT video about a fake mercedes 300sl one white and one red with same chassisnumbers!) If you have a piece of bulkhead with the chassisnumber you CAN make the car legal for as far i know..
  2. Ah yes.. the red car on the big white page in middle and upper half of this picture.. i recognize it.. it's the Dutch folder.. It's (i BET) in new condition.. as it is a new made copy! I've seen those overhere everywhere for sale.. someone ordered 1000 copy's and wend selling them for originals.. but still a nice thing to have but not from the 70's..
  3. I think Bart hasn't read it all, he thinks it's the one and same car! 😀
  4. Hahaha, I totally fell for it.. Hahaha, good one.. How long before The other one is ready? Work on it on a regular day or evening and you get there!
  5. WOW!! From "some assembly required" to a complete Car IN LESS THAN HALF A YEAR !! 👍 Was this your first resto? It looks very good and the orange is one of my favorite colors! What's next i would almost ask.. GOOD JOB !!
  6. Put a pic of the part you need.. saves postage as it is lighter 🙂 just a thought..
  7. That's a good one.. Obviously there is something very wrong with that engine and i think it needs to come completely apart to find it.. maybe a crack in the cylinderwalls or so i don't know, all i know that jalex needs a good technician who is familiar with the L24..

Hé Matthew, thanks! I got a reserve block L24 and this one says 21 of may 1973! I didn't know that there was a number on the block that indicated the day of build! THANKS! again. one learns everyday! (I Knew it was a 1973 engineblock as it had flat tops on it..)
  9. AH !!! NOW i know why you'r struggling! 🙂 As Patcon said.. look at the valves (Remove cover!) and .. as i would do put a screwdriver or something long and thin like a stick in the Cyl. 1 sparkplug hole. (Take a look in your servicemanual.. NEVER work on a car without a SERVICEMANUAL!! (Do you still have no servicemanual for your car after 8 years of struggle? wow! )
  10. 1:3,7 means that the in going axle (On a differential) turns 3,7 times to turn the outgoing axle only ONES !!! OR AM I GOING CRAZY ????? 🙃
  11. As you guys say: WTF.. is 3:70 ? You surely mean 1 on 3,7 or 1:3,7 ratio ???? Could be me as i slept about 10 hours.... this month!! so.. i'm sorry but wtf..
  12. It's ( a ratio ) on automatics 1 : 3,54 on the 5 speed manual it's best 1 : 3,9 for the ratio of the diff. (I don;t get the numbers up here but i never heard of them 3:90 ???? that's the same as 1:30 ?? must be wrong..)
  13. I'm almost sure you won't find the one your looking for as those of the 280zx are smaller.. and they are used to screw screws into.. The chrome of the rear side windows are done with tose little plastic things but again a lot smaller.. about 9mm.. not 12-13 mm....
  14. My 240z smoked a bit and my garage had the tip to put some (about 150mL) ATF in the oil and... after about 200km there was much less smoke! He remembered this from the old days where he always did this when old mercedes 6 cyl. cars did this and he always did this standard to old mercedesses! It works! I think the pistonrings get stuck and the ATF frees them up! Use ATF from the auto transmissions.
  15. Maybe someone can make them in a 3d machine? Put a picture in this topic? Maybe you could make one out of a piece of plastic? I got no idea how it looks like.. I don;t have one as the 280z was never on the market in europe..

That would be very special.. i think you mean E31. (as they had standard E31 and E88 heads.) An E30 head sits normally on a 2 liter engine out of, for example a Laurel. (A E30 would also make much to high compression on these E30 blocks.. no do not ask how i know! 🙂 ) The more parts you sell separate the more you will earn. An engine without the external parts AND NO CLUE about the internals go for 500 euro and a good compression one for 1500? A excellent new restored one with warranty might go for 4-5000 euro.. It might be a smart thing to do some compression testing as you could earn over a grand? That's over here in Europe. We often also buy a second engine for reserve.. I Know that Bart .. and me too.. have a spare. If i where you i would dissasemble it and only sell the lower part and keep all the spare parts on a attic or so. You can always use them to swap with someone elses parts.
  17. You mean... the new Hitachi nozzles.. 😉

My Datsun was Datsun 1979 black metallic.. i know it had gold in it, you could i see when the car stood in the sun, very special color! very fine, little gold spicles, millions in a square inch.

I had my datsun sunny coupe in the early '80's resprayed in black metallic and my friend the painter then already used " anti steenslag" which is the dutch word for anti chipping, so it was already on the market then.. you put it under the main color paint. It loks like very corse sanding paper. He did some on the lower edge of the car and behind the wheels.
  20. After i posted this, it's on the homepage the number one topic Zed! (I don't know if it was in the top12 as i went to notifications first and posted the above answer Oh.. btw almost all my service manuals are in english.. i got only one about the injection system from a 280zx in Dutch!
  21. Zed Head.. I just loaded my pics yesterday to my computer that where on my phone and i didn't make a pic of it so it's not on my pc or phone.. If you really really want a picture. you send me a pm with your mobile phonenumber i send you a whatsapp with as much pics you like of the service manual! ( It's a pic of the rear axle with everyhing on it and in the right lower corner it says near a little pic of the euro back cover: "european only"

Years ago i had some brakefluid on my hood! As it was looked after and had a good layer of wax.. id didn't ruin it at all!! So a good wax is enough? It must have bin a few days on there. but it didn't ruin the paint! (It was DOT4 brakefluid!) Overhere we put a thin layer of stonechip, a sort of rubbery stuff under the colorpaint and clearlaquer. AS i'm looking for a 370z.. i seen one which was changed in color by a wrap.. What is your opinion (everybody who reads this) about wrapping a car? Does it Chip? I don't think so.. SO.. Maybe paint the whole car and wrap the front against stonechipping? Good idea???
  23. I was curious and took a look in my 280zx service manual.. and YES! The R200 has a special European rear cover! It's has the ribs for extra AUTOBAHN cooling! 🙂
  24. Then i have some news for you (guys..) My 280zx is a original The Netherlands delivered (EURO) Car.. and it has a original to it R200 with cooling fins on the back! I'm not sure about my other 2 280zx's i had but they had the same 200's under them as far i know.. (I could look at old pic's but i'm not bothered..)
  25. ?? I see the difference bij looking at the rearside.. (Very easy to see by looking under the car from behind!) When you see cooling ribs it is a R200 the one without is a R180. (Please correct me if i'm wrong..)
