  1. You have a very special 240z.. A ECU ??? please go to "home" and then to +create (right top..) and create your own topic about your problems! Your car must be modified then.. a 240z has no ECU...
  2. Could be with a faulty starter, you used a original or a (one on the many bad) copy('s)? Yep and on both starters.. and... a picture tells us a thausand things more than words haha... (I never heard of this problem but i thought a weak spring in your starter/startrelay is the culprit.. they can have that problem both..)
  3. I think thats not the oil that hangs on the carbs.. it's just greasy stuff.. dried up fuel that hangs on the carbs. Your oillevel is max at the line.. your good if it's just under that line.. as long as your piston in the carb gets to the top fluently.. (push the piston up on the filter side) If it halfway starts to go much easyer it's wrong, it should go with some resistance/drag all to the top. I think the oil does not need to be all the way to the line.. line is a max indicating thing. If your carbs are losing the oil.. yeah then you need to remanufacter/revise them..
  4. Last week i filled them up because one carb was low. that was the first time since 2007! I could feel when pushing the big pot inside up that the rear carb had a low oil level.. the next half of the way up it went very fast and after i filled the oil up it was a slow upgoing pot so good again now.. (pff bad english hey..🙊)
  5. I renewed things in 2007 and have the same.. bottom of the carbs get a bit wet.. i guess it comes from that extremely good ( sarcasm !!!! ) fuel we get these days.. (at the moment we pay about 8 dollar a gallon for that $^!#..) The oil that you put in the carbs (i use 10w40) burns of if there is to much in the carb.. after a 50 miles i think the oil should stand on the line or under (on the stick is a line for the oil.)

KONI makes them again, just a year in production i think? brand new, for the 280zx!! (look for the topic here on czcc!)

NO.. you didn't.. The missing data here is: we (europe) had the 260z till the new 280zx came in 1979, we had the 260z overhere.. (So buildyears are from 1974 till 1978 !!!) never seen the 280z! (That had injection, thus no shoke knob needed) All 280z's in europe are gray imports they were never imported official in those years.

Maybe the brake pads have (normally) a little play and are dry? just a good clean and some coppergrease behind the pads needed? Something stuck inbetween the brakes? Otherwise make a vid with the sound..
  10. What you say? a digital code of 1024 numbers? Oh it was something like: 101101100011110101011101101010011111010110110101010010101011000010111011010101011111100000 is that oké ? Yeah.. you say.. That lock is like a digital code. there are thausands of combinations for your lug! You got a gun? shoot it off!! 😉 You know what happens if there is changed only one "zero or one" in the program on your phones little computer? it will go wrong, if not instantly, some day later.. He's taking the micky out of you.. i believe is the term? (Bloody english hahaha) It's NOT gona fit unless it's the one of the previous owner of your car... Yeah. How many Z car forum members DOES it take to remove a locking lugnut? Hihi 60 ! and counting! How many members?? 5 !! 4 to turn the wheel and one WITH THE CORRECT LUGNUTKEY to hold it !
  11. Yeah and i can think of 10 solutions... drill a big 12mm hole in the middle of it! (Oh.. other advice start offcourse with a 4-5 mm one!) and buy a set of new bolts.. Next !!! 5 days and counting!
  12. AND remember everybody.... A GOOD set of tools is half the job !!
  13. Cut a slit in it and HIT it hard with a hammer! use a small chisel! You are now 4 days busy with only one bolt.. Later on install a new bolt (and a new set of Nuts.)
  14. Yes, And they are in between the chassis and the steel rail for the door rubber. i believe you can take out the doorrubber there and take out the big phillips screws (they are JIS* screws but phillips gets it done) and then you can take the side stainless of the screen.. pop back the rubber in the rail and you can close the doors .. Use some plastic sort of screwdriver stick to do the stainless off the upper stainless strip. (that way you don't mess up the stainless they are hard to find in a perfect condition.) Take your time. I think it's the same on a t-bar car but i had a non t-bar car. On a non t-bar car there is a piece of rainrail attached to the rubber rail that also has to be removed before you can remove the side stainless of the screen pfff... complicated but.. made/engineered very well! Then you can .. again use a plastic flat screwdriver of some sort to pull the upper or lower strip of the screen. IF there isn't used a lot of adhesive. Use a stanley knife to cut through the old adhesive, again taking your time, you don't want the stainless to get a kink in it! (On the rear window i used stainless off of 3-4 rearwindows! to get it good) If you ever want to polish those stainless parts.. do it on the car before you disassemble, why? you will end op with spagetti stainless when you even try to polish it on a machine. It WILL fly out your hands at some point.. (NO i didn't do this myself, there where people here who done this and ended up with a mess.. there are pic's on here of it!) If you want to polish them later, cover the rubber with plastic sort of tape like the electrician uses so you don't "polish"the rubber the stainless is in! (Make a new topic for your 280zx on here! please!! 🙂 ) * JIS = Japanese Industrial Standard. (a screw that looks like a Phillips but is not, it's a JIS.
  15. Yeah.. thats how they all start to desintegrate... YES! I did, but it was a bit of a pain in the ****.. haha.. My original windscreen was put in by CAR GLASS .. The people that claim to do the windscreen for any car in no time.. Yeah they made a mess of it. Normally the chrome trim is installed with clips, they were used but also some windshield adhesive.. i had to restore the clips and get rid of the old adhesive. I ended up with al the clips but 2.. so i think that went well. (especially when you consider that i needed to install it twice due to a broken 3th screen!) You first have to take the sides off? (and that means the part above the door.. that connects to the rubber-rail IN the top of the door (I had a nont-bar remember..) ) I don't remember correctly, look in the s130 serv .man. you can find it on this website. Btw.. i did the same in 1990.. (only in the opp. order..) haha.. bought a 280zx (ready to drive) and weeks later a 240z to restore.. but that 240z went noware.. i still have parts of it in store!
  16. Yep! Nice car! If it's a solid car (Not a sculpturers job i hope.. made from putty.. haha) then it could get in the high score list on 240z's, ofcourse you should make it an original car with all the paperwork that you have it's a good car to put on: "bring a trailer" !! I found also some pics of your car in your profile? from 2007? I think.. it is also a very red 240z.. (rosa corsa red?) I got wheels like those on my 240z! Put a orig seat in and put it on bring a trailer..
  17. First you could change the title.. what about is this thread?.. about a sale of a 1971 240z !!! If you had put that in the title, it got MUCH !!! more attention.. i think. and the foto's ... put some in the thread.. not download-stuff.. remember, people are lazy haha.. oeps.. 🙊 And how can i tell you what's it worth.. i need not 3 pics i need 50-200! pics and maybe i can tell what a right prize could be..

  19. Not even a Dremel? then weld a nut to it as already sayd here.. use imagination! 😉 !!!!!!!!! When you make two flat spots very undeep.. just enough for a open spanner..
  20. Grind 2 flat spots and you take it of with a spanner.. (open wrench) simple..
  21. I agree, maybe those plastic caps are honda? As far i've seen Datsun had the plastic bag..

I once found a pair of pliers under a seat of my new car, it was of a expensive brand! still use it! And a calculator under a seat of a used car.. it was in my latest 280zx, next year i'm gonna visit the last owner (Who drove the car before the subdealer that sold me this zx) and ask if he recognizes the calculator haha!

I thought that to.. better put it in a hot soap (where you wash your clothes with.) for a few days.. you'll see that there comes a lot of dirt out the rubber and the rubber refreshes a LOT! small cracks are gone also! and rubber gets like new! (Big cracks will stay there but the small holes are gone! done this with ball game flipper machine rubbers they were white some time and had a lot of holes in them after a week ik a solution of water and soap they were like new!!)
