Pictures could help a lot.. but i think your having a 280z or 280zx block.. 2753cc , The serial nr is on the head, near the headseal.. where it says N42?

I remember making one out of a inner tube of a car tire.. it works very well. ask for a punctured inner tube at a tire shop, they got them laying around!

You want a set of HJG46W ( also called round top) carburators? The standard (easy to tune) Datsun 240z carbs? (I do have a used set for 500 euro.. but i think to expencive to ship.. from the Netherlands... btw.. were is santa paula? (sounds californian..USA?)

If your thinking about buying them.. one set of bumpers, the shipping alone is around 400 dollars, (pure guess..) IF they want to ship them at all!!

I "found" 4 of them on my garage attic.. But here in the Netherlands no one wants to pay up for them so they stay were they are as i payed good money for straight ones.. (different types for EU and US. cars.) A nice new chromed ORIGINAL bumper costs overhere about 400Efor a bumper and 950E for anew layer of chrome.. (copper/nickel/chrome.) In total i got 8 bumpers left, they are 240z and 1 set i know is 260z.. chrome is not perfect but on the outside they are not rusty.

Would more likely be a 1989 car… ( the 300zxtt came out late '89..)

This conversation remembers me to one time a friend measured the internal resistance of the electric network… with in that time a common analog meter... the pointer on that meter acted like a fan! As schoolfriends we both bought a new analog multimeter... i'm proud to say: mine is still working on my bench… the secret? Look twice (!!!!) at how your leads are plugged in, then look if the thing you are going to test is free of load. not sure measure the voltage first and remember, capacitors hold voltage! But electronics is'nt something you learn in a few month's.. To measure the injection system of a 280z of zx, a oscillograf would be much better….

Just for fun… i put it on "marktplaats.nl" for sale.. It;s going to be interesting, has only 85317 km on it.. today new brakepads all around for the first time in 27 years! ( few years ago it had a set of new pads in the front only) It has it's 4th battery and 3th set of tires.. still the Original exhaust… it's a be-autiful car… ? new APK (MOT) for a year, (till 24-09-2019) Paint perfect, interior perfect leather and alcantara is perfect... need i go on about it? ?

Better buy a good used.. It is a lottery to repair it, if you never have opened a gearbox, it;s a big risk.. but on the other hand, if you have the parts laying around just try to repair it, you learn a lot.

At a certain airspeed something starts to vibrate, maybe it's in the air mass meter. Take the airfilter and stuff in front of it off and look if it's gone.. For the running of the engine, got an airleak? it's not running well..

Don't think they got that one for that price, and with warranty. I hope for you they do .. let us know!

In Europe.. these days it's more like 1500 euro for a garanteed good 5 speed.... who is selling them for 450 pounds or euro? I've seen none lately. Prices have exploded... The only one i see here in the Netherlands is a 5 speed from Greece for 750 euro? no warranty and shipping is an awful lot of money i guess?? It's a good but used one.. yeah right...

I'm sure the dutch/euro version of the 240z came with the stone guard.. They lasted not very long in our weather…. and were thrown away. My very Original 280zx 1979 has one to! (still in my cellar/parts shop hahaha… I got an Original stone guard plate for you if you want one ….. so you can now get a supporter of my restoration ?

Your refering to my picture? Yes that is a premuffler , for so far i know the latest type and partnumber.. Original nissan.

I would take it apart and put new grease in it. maybe you discover a brandname somewhere in it.. check the elec. motor and the antenna sliding contact, there you can see how many times it has been used. (i've seen contacts that where gone, just by going up and down.. to many times.. haha..)
