  1. Haha, good one.. but a radiator and some coolingfluid would be nice, then he could give it a longer run and high rev's!
  2. Let my say first... can't help myself… but emmmm.. SO YOU DO HAVE FLOW! I'm just not not kidding.. again… sorry. To your question, i don't have any experience with webers.. and i'm gonna keep it that way.. ?
  3. I also noticed a difference in color.. (They have been cept in a box in the dark and conditioned.) one day i'll install these as they are on my 240z (i hope) and we'll see what happens !!
  4. Nice Carl, Thanks.. So the 240z has 2 different spring rates in the front.. i learned something! ?
  5. As said earlyer, these Koni's are new old stock. I've heard that these were the shocks that where used in the south african rally cars? About my spring pic.. I'm 98% shure it's the Original Datsun 280zx 2+2 1979 (rear) spring.. I think technicians can tell what type of spring it is using the 2 colored spots on them, if someone could explain more i like to here it!
  6. Well.. Thank you very much Mr. Lee Grimes! Here some pic's from the shocks i've got laying around in my (big?) pile of parts for z/zx.. Front shock 82-R1811 Rear shock 82R-1812 front shock rear shock
  7. Here some pic's from the Original instruction manual that went with them.. (for use under the 240z) Also a pic from the spring of my 280zx.. it has 2 spots on it, orange and purple.. i guess it's a way to mark how strong they are?
  8. Yes, the 82R-1811 have 705 and the 82R-1812 have 007 stamped into it under the partnumber! It says also "special D" on it and have all 4 of them lots of patent numbers for different country's on them. (As i sayd these are new and thuss never used. I bought them few years ago, but the guy were i bought them from sayd they were from late 70 or begin of 80's?) I'm curious what the real dates are! so thanks in advance! (I also got some single grade oil with the whole deal.. it's probably to put some of it into the tubes of the orig. shock-housings to transmit the heat better ?) Mart.
  9. KONI was a Dutch firm from the start if i remember correctly? I've just reman. a set 280zx last week..and now i hear from these new KONI's.. For my 240z i've got a Original orange/red set of 4 shocks in stock for over 25 years at least.. new in the box.. haha what's left of the box.. ?
  10. Yes, but i think few people know what thread it is.. You could buy a tool.. it measures the threads (it has multiple plates with the thread in it.) and then buy a tap for tapping it in the housing..
  11. You could change your thermostat housing, a later 280zx housing has many sensor threads in it.. the rest you simply close.
  12. Wow.. a proper repaint costs overhere (the Netherlands) around 5 grant.. euro's .. say 5500 dollar?.. With a lot of repairs i guess under 10 grant? I'm the owner of a silver 240z from 2/1971 .. an early car.. It's very red now.. Bought it in 1998 after it was several years standing still here in Holland.. It has a new floor now.. and doglegs, and.. and… My car comes from Florida.. (Owner was J.J. Kavanagh.. from Margate Florida.. I Always wondered if he's still alive there.. who can investigate.. i can send the old pre-1994 adress. in a pm.) I'm thinking of selling my car, but it would be crazy to ship it back to California! And last but not least i don't think you will find a good one for that money.. your about 10 years to late....
  13. If you put the front of the lock on the workbench and pry the edge open with a little screwdriver... you'll never stab yourself.. it's like using a knife or wood chisel.. Never use the knife/chisel towards your self.. i know a man who did.. cut his arm open and now in a wheelchair! (he developt muscular dystrophy..) so be careful! ? EDIT: no not the capt'n said.. Zup said it..!! stupid computers... ?
  14. Undercoat.. bedliner?? i hate it! You cant see anything.. i've got my new floor in my 240z done with only zinc spray... yes i use my 240z a side of my beautiful 300zxtt as a winter car!! After now almost 20 years and say.. 25000km it has a little rust but.. ICAN SEE WHERE IT IS and repair it easy.. also i do a can of 500ml wd40 under my car before every winter.. If you really want to use a undercoating.. do a very light coat and keep it soft with a can of wd40. Layer over layer of undercoating … HATE IT!!! And if you ever going to sell your car, the new owner will like the clean look, no cover up's underneath!
  15. Thanks! (the thicker lash pads came with it! so, i'm complete..) Sorry riffa3y.. But you got also the answer, buy a Isky cam! To go stage III where can we get the performance springs? (That would be the better option than stick with the orig. (very old) springs..
  16. Hi.. I'm also interested in the answer.. i've got a L24 and L28 (N42) and a .275 new Datsun (slalom) camshaft in stock.. Thinking of using it myself in my 240 or 280zx.. But i don't know if i can use the same "rest of the parts "on the orig. head. It will have a bit more power but the fuelconsumption wil also skyrocket??
  17. Mmmm.. i've got a new name... maybe in april i change name Haha, that's when my 280zx slick top will be ready.. (or i'll have to ***** my painter… just kidding..) On topic, the facia of the doorlocks are removable with some clockmakers screwdrivers (yes the small ones.) later on you have some work to close them again.. but it can be done.
  18. Shot peen it is another approach.. google it.. they do this also with cracked cast iron motorblocks.. an old english? way to repair things?
  19. Think so yes.. On the european market it were AM radio's with 5 presets but not Hitachi's… they came from CLARION! On the facia (there were the midwave numbers stand.) was the name DATSUN also written.. (Datsun on the left and clarion on the right!) Also mono but no auto signal seeking.
  20. In europe you could only find them in the toy shop for those prices
  21. Oh.. so easy… if you're a handyman(!) .. Take apart the non working locks.. take your key that works on everything else.. now put that key in the non working lock..(after you have taken it apart..) now look at the plates (about 4 ?) change the plates from place, so they are flat with the surface or almost.. now if you have made the combination as flat as possible take a grinder and grind them flat on the round cilinder.. can be done with a file but a grinder go's faster and easyer.. now put your locks together again… Can't believe i tell these secrets! ?
  22. If not specifically mentioned you could Always use the universal amount of torque for that M8/M6 bolt? (don't know what metric bolt it is but there are universal lists for torque)
  23. I'll have to check. My buddy owns it. If it has, it will have a fat headgasket.. (or no flattop pistons, like in a L26 (euro)) I think that when i tested a E30 on my L24 it had a compression around 1:12 ?? or even higher, after a few runs the gasket went... And i installed the (revised) Original E88 back on it.. was in 2007..(car ran fine it just needed new gaskets and seals then.) till today it runs beautiful but after 48 years the pistonrings are getting very old.. Last year i went to a dealer in Germany and i drove it over 200km/h on the German highway and i think i have blown a valveseal or something.. (broken a pistonring? comp. is good at all 6) , since then it uses a bit to much oil.. ( my 240z is up for an complete overhaul after i finish my orig. dutch (euro type) 280zx 2+2 slick roof..)
  24. Does that L24 have the E30 head? I've got some of those.. Once had a L26 in a 240z with a E30 on it! Worked well that combination.. Later on i tested a E30 on a 240z/L24 but the compression was to much hahaha… (the starter had a hard time to start it!) i think it could have worked with a fat copper (selfmade) gasket!
  25. I've read it yeah.. you've took it to the garbage can.. Hihi..
